Sai, a young thug, has a chance encounter with Sheela, a beautiful patron, at a nightclub. A year later, Sai agrees to meet with her once more at a local bar. As they profess their love for each other, Sheela regales her belief in "Chrysalis Day," an astrological-like event that marks a turning point in one's life depending how they spend Chrysalis Day. Sheela surmises, because they share the same birthday, that her Chrysalis Day coincides with Sai's, and wishes to spend it with him. Sai agrees to fulfill her request and hopes to build a "rosy" life with her.
When they arrive at Sheela's home, Sai sees that it's been trashed, with blood splattered on a dumbbell. Sheela alleges that someone has been stalking her recently and that she defended herself when they broke inside. She convinces Sai to kill him, so they can be accomplices together. After a brief knife fight, the stalker is shot by a group of Yakuza, lead by the clan's second in command Jumonji. He reveals that the "stalker" is actually a crooked cop that was conspiring with Sheela to steal nearly $3 million from the clan's boss and Sheela's boyfriend, Kurogane. After Sheela accuses Sai of being the thief, he is apprehended and tortured at their headquarters while Sheela confronted and sexually molested by Kurogane. Sai escapes and saves Sheela by shooting off Kurogane's penis. The couple escape in a red Corvette where Sheela explains that she pinned the blame on Sai out of fear and desperation; Sai forgives her out of love.
Back at Sheela's home, the crooked cop, Agri, rouses from unconsciousness. Despite being saved by a hidden bulletproof vest, he's oblivious to an injury on the back of his head, partially revealing his brain. He meets with Gon, another crooked cop, and his oblivious rookie partner Hoshi, and reveals he failed to get the money. Gon meets with Kurogane to take advantage of the situation. Still recovering from his wounds and having been threatened by his boss over the money, Kurogane agrees to pay Gon a large sum in exchange for finding Sheela and Sai. Kurogane also recruits a team of bumbling assassin to aide in the search, however, the assassins oafishly murder random couples they assume are the targets.
Sai and Sheela enjoy their time together while on the lamb. While Sai chats with Kuniaki, a beat cop, Sheela contacts Minoru, one of the lower members of the clan. She urges him to meet her with the money but he stresses that he's unable to leave the clan's gaze.
