For the past ten years I have been creating, specifically for the internet, a narrative encyclopedia of world history under the title HistoryWorld. It amounts already to more than a million words, and has two companion sites: OCEAN Index (an edited index of more than 40,000 entries to the best history articles on the web) and, from February 2007, TimeSearch (a search engine using timeline menus as a way of finding online history).
I am a frequent and devoted user of Wikipedia, an extraordinary global cooperative effort of which the best articles are unsurpassed and the worst rapidly improving.
