A bit about me

By profession, I am a librarian. I also write and conduct research on topics of interest, whenever I can.

I research and write about things that, first of all, interest me. Much of what I do is aimed at addressing topics that I feel are underrepresented, misunderstood, or are often dismissed outright as not being "serious," "scholarly," or "important"--the 1970s, disco and soul, "throwaway" pop culture, movies and TV shows, actors and directors, authors, other countries and cultures, and gay people. I'm especially interested in all things Canadian, British, Australian, French, Spanish, Mexican, and African, so I try to contribute offerings to those bases of knowledge. We can never know too much about the world we inhabit, even if the meager offerings I contribute are the smallest and quirkiest of facts.

It's classic microhistory, to my thinking. Sometimes from the innocuous details you can extract greater meanings and understandings.
