Oliver George Shield (born 25 September 2006) is an English professional footballer who plays as a right back or right winger for Premier League club Brentford.

Shield is a product of the Southampton Academy and began his professional career with Brentford in 2025.
Career
Shield began his youth career in the Southampton Academy at the age of 10 and signed a two-year scholarship with Brentford U18 in 2023.[2][3] He had a successful 2023–24 season, captaining the U18 team,[4] being named its Player of the Year and making concurrent appearances for the club's B team.[5][6][7] By August 2024,[8] Shield had been promoted into to the B team,[9] while continuing to play for the U18 team.[5] He made 38 appearances for the B team during the 2024–25 season.[2] Though he was not part of the 2024–25 Professional Development League Final-winning matchday squad,[10] Shield received a winner's medal in recognition of his contribution earlier in the competition.[11]
Shield signed an undisclosed-length professional contract in July 2025 and made a first team friendly appearance during the 2025–26 pre-season period.[12][13] He was an unused substitute on four occasions during the 2025–26 regular season.[14]
Personal life
Shield's identical twin brother Harry also became a footballer.[2][15] He roomed with Brentford U18 teammate Emeka Peters during the 2023–24 season.[5]
