History
The first Ely Pride event took place in 2018.[1]
The event took a break in 2021.[1]
In 2024, Ely Pride celebrated its fifth event in the Jubilee Gardens on 4 August.[2] Around 5,000 people were expected to turn out;[1] the actual number on the day was just below 6,000, the largest crowd thus far.[2] Reverend Catherine Dixon, minister at Ely Methodist Church, said she would attend again after doing so previously; she described the event as "a beautiful, wonderful gathering... for everybody."[1] Around 60 stalls sold food and crafts at the event, and over 20 performers appeared on the main stage. Ely Cathedral was lit with the colours of the rainbow.[2]
