I'm CaptHugh. I'm a Wikipedia editor and location sound mixer based in Michigan, United States, with over four decades of experience in broadcast, TV & Film Productions (yes, even ads) and podcasting.

I got into editing because I kept finding gaps in articles about music and television from the 1970s and it was driving me crazy. I have a pretty good collection of primary sources for that era, including a complete run of TV Guide from late 1974 through 1980, which I use to verify cover dates, featured articles, and regional edition details that are hard to find anywhere else.

I spend a lot of time on articles related to AM radio hits, soft rock, and yacht rock from roughly 1972 to 1985, and I've created or significantly expanded several artist and album articles in that space. I also work on historical calendar articles — I like filling in what was actually happening in popular culture during a given month, like what was on TV, what was on the radio, what movies were out. Stuff that makes the article feel like you were actually there.

The TV Guide collection comes in handy a lot more than you'd think. Cover art, issue dates, article citations — a lot of 1970s television articles are missing that kind of detail and I try to fill it in when I can.

My background in the entertainment field gives me a decent ear for what's missing from music and broadcast articles — not just the facts, but the context of how things actually sounded and felt at the time.

Always happy to talk 70s music or TV Guide. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page.
