- NASA research pilot Bill Dana takes a moment to watch NASA's NB-52B cruise overhead after a research flight in the HL-10. On the left, John Reeves can be seen at the cockpit of the lifting body.
- USS Iowa (BB-61) fires a full broadside of her nine 16″/50 and six 5″/38 guns during a target exercise near Vieques Island, Puerto Rico (21°N 65°W / 21°N 65°W). Note concussion effects on the water surface, and 16-inch gun barrels in varying degrees of recoil.
- USS Annapolis (SSN 760) rests in the Arctic Ocean after surfacing through three feet of ice during Ice Exercise 2009 on March 21, 2009.
- The N700 Series Shinkansen Set G13 high speed train travelling at approximately 300 km/h through Himeji Station. This photo was captured with a line scan camera using strip photography.
