Calcarisporiella thermophila has a basionym of Calcarisporium thermophile Evans, Trans. Brit. Mycol. Soc. 57:247. 1971[2]
The growth temperature range of c. thermophilia is 25-40 °C. It was originally thought to be an anamorphic member of the Pezizomycotina (Evans 1971 and de Hoog 1974), but phylogenetic analysis of rDNA found that it was separate from the Endogonales and Mucorales clades.[3]
The fungus has been found on coal spoil tips in Staffordshire, England. It can be described as a thermotolerant.[2]
