Aka David Lovett or D. F. Lovett.

Wikipedia editor and enthusiast for accurate information. I especially like editing pages for people, places or things in or related to Minnesota, including local politicians (regardless of party), restaurants and businesses. I'm also an enthusiast for books, movies, pop culture, etc, so that's where my other edits tend to be focused. Lately I've decided to work on the absolute mess of a page for Search engine optimization, plus List of companies based in Minneapolis–Saint Paul and the various companies listed on that page. Wish me luck. I also work in marketing (I'm self-employed) and I write books.

Plus I write a Substack about the nature of truth on the internet. It's called Edit History. A lot of it is about Wikipedia. You should read it: https://edithistory.substack.com/

(Arguable) COI Declarations

1. When I first started using Wikipedia, I made some dumb edits. Chief among these is creating the article for Corridor Digital. It's a good article and I'm proud of it, but it was foolish of me to make it, as Corridor Digital are friends of mine and we have subsequently collaborated on work that I've made money on. I have not edited that article or any related articles for a long time. Because the article now mentions me by name, I am definitely never editing it again for obvious reasons (and I haven't edited it since 2021, although even that was probably foolish of me.)

2. I make various edits related to SEO, digital marketing, etc. I don't consider these to be COI but I've been accused of it over these edits previously. I understand that SEO really brings out some big opinions and that my work in the overall search industry can potentially create some questions. If I have specific instances of debatable edits, I'll flag them in my edit, on this page and on the Talk page. I consider this editing to be akin to a lawyer making edits on the Law page, but I realize it might not be that simple.

3. I like to make edits related to Minnesota and I also know many Minnesotans and Minnesota-based companies. I believe that my edits have all been clean and above-board regarding Minnesota landmarks, businesses, living persons, etc, but I'll continue to exercise caution and flag anything that could be a concern.

4. In 2019, I worked on a project for Trolli x Deadpool. Some people have subsequently tried to claim that created COI for me regarding Ryan Reynolds and others. I think that's bogus but, sure, I'll list it here.

5. I am not affiliated with the CIA. Nor have I ever been.

6. More on specific companies related to digital marketing: I have done some contract SEO work for Scrunch, an AI visibility tool, and have also been a client or customer of Scrunch, Profound, Semrush, AlsoAsked, BrightEdge, Conductor, and Moz. I also realistically know people professionally at all the major SEO/digital marketing companies (whether tools, software, or agencies.) However, I believe my edits to articles related to digital marketing, SEO and AI visibility articles are unimpeachable and adhere to all best practices.

7. I'm also mentioned on the article for Norbit. This is kinda weird and I swear I had nothing to do with it. If anyone notices that and would like to do me a favor, update my name so it's D. F. Lovett instead of D.F. Lovett.

Because I publicly write about Wikipedia and also edit it, I don't try to keep my identity under wraps (at least not anymore.) Feel free to reach out to me at DFrederickLovett@gmail.com if you have a good lead I should be writing about or just want to talk about Wikipedia.
