Taylor Hobson, formerly Taylor, Taylor and Hobson (TTH), is a company based in Leicester, UK, now specialising in metrology instrumentation.
T. S. Taylor, an optician, his brother W. Taylor, an engineer, and a Mr Hobson, a businessman, formed the company in 1888, initially as a lens manufacturer. For the early history of the company and its previous ownership, see Cooke Optics. Taylor Hobson Ltd is now a subsidiary of AMETEK Inc., a US corporation based in Paoli, Pennsylvania.
During World War 2, TTH added surface measurement equipment (product name: Talysurf) to its traditional production of lenses. Talyrond roundness measuring equipment and other metrology products followed.
The optical products division was bought out in 1998 and trades as Cooke Optics.
