Chapel in Oriveto Cathedral
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The San Brizio Chapel (Italian: Cappella di San Brizio, or Capella Nuova) is a side chapel of the Orvieto Cathedral in Italy. Begun in 1396, it was first decorated by Fra Angelico and his pupil Benozzo Gozzoli in the mid-15th century, and later completed by Luca Signorelli between 1499 and 1504. The chapel’s fresco cycle is of significant art-historical interest for its treatment of Renaissance themes such as nudity, references to classical antiquity, and dramatic narrative composition.
