Ancient book market and street in Baghdad, Iraq
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Souk al-Sarai is a marketplace in Baghdad known for the sale of stationery and schoolbooks.[1] It is an extension of Al-Mutanabbi Street. It is approximately 300 metres long and the alley is 3 metres wide. It is lined by stationery shops on either side.
In the 15th century, the marketplace was known for the manufacture and sale of leathers (and hence was called "Souq al-Sarajeen").
