Notes

  1. Texas A&M finished in first place, but was ineligible to win the Southwest Conference title due to sanctions. Rice was declared co-conference champions along with Texas, Baylor, TCU, and Texas Tech.
  2. Overtime rules were added for NCAA football in 1996, eliminating ties.
