Career
Abdelaal's professional background is in the research and development of robotic hardware and geographic information systems (GIS). He has held engineering roles at Micropolis Robotics in the UAE and Legend Technology in Sudan. He currently works as a UAV pilot and R&D engineer in Kuwait, focusing on multispectral data analysis for industrial and agricultural applications.
Projects and Inventions
Smart Agriculture Payload
Abdelaal developed the Smart Agriculture Payload (SAP), an airborne agricultural drone system designed to plant seeds and monitor crop health using aerial imaging to address desertification in Sudan. The project qualified for the semi-finals of the UAE Drones For Good Award and received international media coverage from outlets including Sky News, Deutsche Welle (DW), and Al Jazeera English.
SIRAJ-03 Ventilator
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Abdelaal was an engineer for the Sudanese Initiative for Manufacturing and Maintenance of Ventilators (SIMMVEN). The volunteer coalition developed the SIRAJ-03, an open-source, non-invasive pressure support ventilator intended for rural hospitals lacking stable electricity. Following the outbreak of the war in Sudan, the initiative's laboratory, manufacturing tools, and the final pre-production model of the ventilator were destroyed.[1]
