Oxford Meetup 6
Thank you for attending the fifth Oxford Meetup, and it was a pleasure meeting you. I intended to send this message on Monday, but I've been a bit busy, sorry.
Several of us would like to continue with the monthly plan, since trying to make a two-monthly cycle fit into the University terms doesn't work very well. A page has been created about the sixth Oxford Meetup; please sign up if you think that you are able to attend - if the date or venue are unsuitable, please comment at its discussion page.
Please spread the word to anybody else who you think might be interested. The next UK meetups are at: London, 16 June; Manchester, 22 June; and Coventry, 7 July. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:10, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, it was pointed out to me that 7 July 2013 collides with Coventry 8, who have a prior claim to the date. Since nobody has (yet) claimed 14 July for any UK meetups, I have decided that Oxford 6 should be held on 14 July 2013, and not 7 July as previously advertised. In this way, those who wish to attend both may do so. I hope the revised Oxford date is convenient for you; and if it isn't, why not give Coventry a try? --Redrose64 (talk) 15:45, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
Revived interest in Infernal Affairs
Invitation to participate in the poll for Infernal Affairs.
From your edits for the film Infernal Affairs there is presently a poll taking place on The Departed film Talk page regarding whether you believe a separate subsection should be included for (a) Infernal Affairs as a source for the plot of The Departed film, and/or (b) a second subsection for the recently captured crime figure Whitey Bulger as the source for the character played by Jack Nicholson in the film.
The recent capture of Bulger has revived the question from two years ago of Infernal Affairs from when it did have a separate subsection on The Departed film page which was deleted by User:RepublicanJ, now known as User:OldJ. Invite to visit The Departed Talk page, to the Bulger section at the end of the Page, to participate in the Poll currently taking place. 208.120.96.227 (talk) 11:12, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Oxford Meetup 9
Hi, I've created m:Meetup/Oxford/9 with no date, would October 13 or October 20 be most convenient for you? There's a discussion page at m:Talk:Meetup/Oxford/9 so that a date may be agreed. Please comment there. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:52, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- See List of Doctor Who serials#Series overview. I make the total down to the end of 1989 as 695 episodes broadcast: the first six seasons account for 253, of which 97 are missing. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:39, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Question
Hello. You on February 12, 2005 added some more countries to the article List of nuclear reactors, among them Uruguay with a "URR Reactor" (URR = «University Research Reactor»). In which source of information did you find this?
I am asking for this because I am working on an article jointly with user Ganímedes about Nuclear energy in Uruguay (es:Energía nuclear en Uruguay).
Regards, --Zerabat (talk) 14:24, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, I think the info was from http://www.iaea.org/worldatom/rrdb/ but is now a deadlink. The following page shows Uruguay but reactor is now listed as "decommissioned": http://nucleus.iaea.org/RRDB/RR/ReactorSearch.aspx?rf=1 . Hope that helps, --Mervyn (talk) 16:41, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Marsh Awards

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Marsh Awards, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Alexf(talk) 14:13, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Your article Guido Brunetti
Welcome, and thank you for contributing the page Guido Brunetti to Wikipedia. While you have added the page to the English version of Wikipedia, the article is not in English. We invite you to translate it into English. It has been listed at Pages Needing Translation, but if it is not translated within two weeks, the article will be listed for deletion. Thank you. A page you started (Guido Brunetti) has been reviewed!
Thanks for creating Guido Brunetti, Mervyn!
Wikipedia editor Killer Moff just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:
I agree either a merge or possible a move to Commissario Brunetti (series). The description section is largely unneeded, but might be replaced with fictional bio.

Hi Mervyn!
I notice that you had this page on your "To-Do" list. I've now created a "starter" page, but it needs more work, for instance, I'm not sure what categories to assign to it (I tried "Cellists", but someone else deleted that category, so the page is currently almost category-less). Would you be able to make any improvements? Cheers, ErkDemon (talk) 14:35, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

Inline links and copyvio
Hello! I took out the chateau list on Chateau DIY as we do not generally provide external links in the body of the article, per WP:EL. It is also getting quite trivial when a list of owner first names is added without sources. The article is definitely notable, but has only two weak independent sources. It needs to be less of a spam farm. Thanks. --- Possibly ☎ 13:12, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Can I suggest that the ext links are removed but the chateau names retained - since they are major part of the series. Section could be marked as improvement needed. Thanks, --Mervyn (talk) 13:18, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hello. I will reply on the article talk page, so that the discussion is archived there. There also seems to be a bit of a copyvio problem; see the talk page. Thanks. --- Possibly ☎ 17:01, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- BY the way, I fixed the copyvio on Escape to the Chateau DIY. Please be careful not to add material that is directly copied form copyright sources. Your edit here added material from The official series' site. I didn't see any kind of release on the Channel 4 site... in fact it says "©" at the bottom of the page. It's now clean. --- Possibly ☎ 01:10, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited James Dyson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Var. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Copying within Wikipedia
You did not identify the source of the material in . It appears to be S. P. Hinduja. Copying within Wikipedia is acceptable but it must be attributed.
This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.
While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I hope you will do so.
I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors, but there are some t's that need to be crossed.S Philbrick(Talk) 11:44, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
