Salim Kikeke is a Tanzanian senior journalist, editor, television presenter and political analyst. He is best known for his work with BBC (BBC Swahili),[1][2][3][4] and he is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the development of professional Swahili-language journalism at an international level.[5][6][7][8][9][10]
Early life and education
Kikeke was born in Mbeya,Tanzania on 6 November 1978, He received primary education up to university in Tanzania. and his father influenced him to pursue a career in agriculture,He earned a Diploma in Agricultural engineering(Irrigation) in 1994,
on 1998, Kikeke decided to study a short course in journalism at the Tanzania School of Journalism.[11]
on 2015,He earned a Bachelor of Arts of Global politics and International relations at the Birkbeck, University of London in London, England.
Career
Early career
After graduating from University, he made efforts to find employment and it was difficult for him for a whole year, This pushed him to settle for menial jobs, then he decided to become a Mwanaapolo of tanzanite at Arusha, Tanzania, one of the hardest and roughest times of his life. Due to the work being very difficult and the pay being low and hard life, he decided to quit and go to Dar es Salaam.
My mother was the first to inspire me to enter broadcasting. She loved listening to the radio news and encouraged me to follow every news story that was happening in the world. I became able to pronounce words well and read the news.

Kikeke later joined BBC Swahili, where he worked as:Journalist, Broadcaster, Editor of BBC Swahili
As editor, he oversaw the production of Swahili-language news for a global audience. He played a key role in strengthening editorial independence, accuracy, balance, and high standards of Swahili language use. Under his leadership, BBC Swahili became one of the most trusted sources of news for Swahili speakers across Africa and beyond.
After leaving the BBC, Kikeke has been involved in:
