About Me
Software Engineer and FOSS nerd living in Chicagoland. She/her pronouns please.

I'm new here and doing my best to abide by the community's norms. If something I've done seems off, please let me know.
How I Work
Since I'm new I'm trying to avoid pigeonholing myself into a particular role or editing philosophy. I'm mostly just trying to find places I can feel useful. I like work with a nice long backlog that I can pick stuff off of. To that end I have been enjoying answering WP:COI edit requests, and I'm dipping my toes into copyediting.
I am experimenting with trying to take COI requests proposing a complete replacement of an article in poor shape currently as a form of WP:TNT. I am documenting that experience here: User:Packrat3860/Accept as TNT.
Conflict(s) of Interest
I'm a regular volunteer and donor at Care for Real, a Chicago food pantry. They have not asked me to edit Wikipedia on their behalf, and they do not pay me for anything. I'm not acting here as their representative.
I'm disclosing this in the interest of openness because they are a partner and at times a "competitor" of sorts (to the degree that charitable organizations "compete") with other organizations in the Chicagoland food distribution network. If I'm making edits to articles about Care for Real or about related organizations, I'll do so through Edit requests.
Pilfered words of wisdom
First, do no harm. The rest is wikilawyering

The Original Barnstar |
| For your hard work and diligence reviewing edit requests, I hereby award you this barnstar. With the COI edit request queue growing and growing, I am glad to see there are other reviewers out there besides me, and your rationales for approving or declining edits have been well reasoned. It looks like you have a knack for giving requests the appropriate level of scrutiny. Keep up the good work! Altamel (talk) 17:31, 12 September 2026 (UTC) |
