Kasimabad is a town in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, India. Several residents of Kasimabad and nearby villages of Sonbarsa participated in the Indian freedom struggle against British rule between 1857 and 1947.
1857 Rebellion
- Kazi Sheikh Mohammad Zulfiquar Ali Balkhi: Resident of Ghazipur region, served as a commander in Babu Kunwar Singh’s army. He led guerrilla attacks against British forces in Ghazipur and Ballia.
- Doolareh: Resident of Ghazipur, fought against British forces during the 1857 uprising. He was captured and executed by hanging in 1859.
Quit India Movement, 1942
On 18 August 1942, a group of unarmed youths from Sherpur village near Kasimabad marched to Muhammadabad tehsil to hoist the Indian tricolour. Eight of them were shot dead by British police:

- Risheshwar Rai – Sherpur
- Vansh Narayan Rai alias Lalta Rai – Sherpur
- Vashishth Narayan Rai – Sherpur
- Narayan Rai – Sherpur
- Ram Badan Upadhyay – Sherpur
- Raja Narayan Rai alias Raja Rai – Sherpur
- Raghupati Rai alias Vansh Narayan Rai II – Sherpur
