Abkhazia-Georgia relations are the political and economic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia.

History
Abkhazia has historically been a central region of Georgia, dating back to the Egrisi (Colchis), a group of Georgian tribes who settled in the region in the 13th Century BC.[1]
- Apsilae and Abagois migrate into Abkhazia, a different ethno-linguistic group to Georgians
- Georgia a disunited collection of polities, subject to competition between the Romans and Persians
- Abkhazia first established as a polity, breaks away from Rome/Byzantium
- Established unified Georgian Kingdom
- Abkhazia rebels from Georgia, Principality established as Ottoman vassal
- Kept language but had separate identity
- Created Sukhumi District of the Russian Empire
- After February 1917, Abkhazian Public Safety Committee established
- Joined Union of North Caucasus in Civil War, fearful of Georgian influence
- Initial hopes of peaceful relations, united in Transcaucasian Comiserriatt
- March/April 1918, Bolsheviks breakaway in Abkhazia
- Georgia invades, autonomous Abkhaz People's Council
- After dispute over governor of council, Turkish volunteers come, conflict with Georgia
- Fully annexed into Georgia. Autonomy briefly restated.
- 1921, Soviet invasion. Abkhazian Soviet Republic
- 1930, reduced to ASSR of Georgia (why?). Majority Georgian population
- 1989, Georgia seeks independence, Abkhazia wants to stay in USSR. Anti-Georgian uprising
- 1991, Georgia leaves the USSR. Local autonomy in independent Georgia
- June/July 1992, uprising in Abkhazia, independence declared. (Fears that autonomy was rescinded)
- War until 1993. Ceasefire, but border closed til 1994. Georgia retains Kodori Valley
- War in 1998
- Independence declared in 1999 officially
