Hi there! My editing activity has been on and off over the past few months due to school, but with finals now over, my schedule has opened up considerably. I would like the ability to review more than six account requests per day (from the same place) and to create accounts that may be similar to existing ones but are still permissible under the guide. I've reviewed over 500 account requests and believe that this right would allow me to better assist with the ever-growing backlog. I've created 43 articles overall (of which 31 have been made since I returned to semi-regularly editing en in January 2026), with two of those getting on DYK (plus a third in the queue, which is set to be on the main page on May 6, as well as three currently active nominations). I do have two articles that have previously been deleted, but both of them were originally from 2020, and eventually were recreated by others later. ShadowBallX (talk) 04:55, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

  • Isn't this request moot due to the move functionality in AWB only being available to admins (as well as being really bad)? Trialpears (talk) 17:14, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
No, the proposed AWB action as I understand it is turning articles into redirects, not page moves. * Pppery * it has begun... 05:10, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
That would be LUGSTUBS3, if it passes; LUGSTUBS2 will involve moving the articles that are unimproved and have not already been redirected to draft space. I intend to use AWB as part of the post-move cleanup, including removing categories and applying the relevant template - moving the page will be done with a different tool. I made a request last month to help with work I was doing on a college basketball template, and was told to wait a month due to issues in the changes I made. Since then, there have been no issues, and I have some other copyediting tasks I want to complete for other subject areas that this tool would help me with, in addition to the college basketball work I have been doing. I would like to create lists of articles I might want to edit based on Regex and categories. Because of my current computing setup I will need to use JWB, which, unlike AWB, requires being on the check page for all actions, including generating lists. I do not intend to actually make any semi-automated edits until I'm more confident in my Regex skills, and am willing to make another request when that time comes. Extended confirmed

User:Happypenguins82

Hello, I am reapplying for the Extended Confirmed permission following the resolution of an Arbitration Enforcement request the AE result from January 2026. My EC permission was previously revoked due to 'permission gaming' and a shift into contentious topics. According to the AE result, I was instructed to wait at least 30 days and complete 500 additional constructive edits before reapplying. It has now been over three months, and I’ve reached that milestone with 500 new edits. Since the initial block was removed, I’ve taken the advice I received here initial unblock request to heart and I’ve been using the "Preview" button every time before I publish changes just to double check my self, to avoid making too many small edits. I’ve focused on trying to know and better understand wikipedia, which i find fascinating, i joined a couple of projects, such as merge, redirect, short descriptions, and discovered how important it is to perform these maintenance edits to keep the encyclopedia better and safe, i plan on joining more projects, and improve my understanding of wikipedia. I'd appreciate it if you could reassess my edits and consider removing my current restrictions, and restore my EC. I would not repeat my previous mistakes. @Happypenguins82: Which CTOP areas and/or articles that are under ECP do you want to edit? voorts (talk/contributions) 22:05, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
Hi @Voorts,
Thank you for the question. After my initial block was removed I took the time to better understand this massive platform. I've joined projects like Merges, Redirects, and Short Descriptions, every day I discover something new whether its templates or backlogs, this place is huge, and so much bigger than one single topic or a couple of them for that matter, and because I’ve discovered how important maintenance is, and good sources, and good content, I need the EC permission not for a specific single topic, but for handling technical and content related issues such as merges, or to be able to contribute quality edits to any topic I might come across, including contentious topics weather its Palestinian Israeli topic or Ukraine war or sudan or k pop figures, sports figures and music legends that might be EC protected. I discovered I like working with random options inside backlogs or articles, that's how I ended up in the PIA in the first place. but i can say that i learned so much in the past 3 months, and if I should come across a contentious topic, I would handle it with extra care and without repeating my previous mistakes. Happypenguins82 (talk) 06:53, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
Let me ask you this. This is for my own interest so feel free to not answer. Would you regard it as a 'mistake' to advocate for or against any of the belligerents in the Arab-Israeli conflict in Wikipedia given that WP:NOTADVOCACY is policy? The reason I ask is because this and this resemble advocacy more than they resemble arguments based on reliable sources and Wikipedia policies and guidelines. So, I guess my question boils down to - do you think you can comply with WP:NOTADVOCACY even if you see other editors not complying (and of course you will see people not following the NOTADVOCACY rule probably everyday)? Sean.hoyland (talk) 11:27, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
Of course I don't mind answering, I'm always happy to talk to fellow editors and I appreciate the question. I think everyone should follow all wikipedia's policy and guidelines, including the no advocacy policy, even if i have an opinion on the subject, or any topic for that matter its not relevant for a global encyclopedia, in here editors including myself should stick to dry secondary sourced facts, regardless to any editors opinion, however its not my place (not that im aware of) to instruct other editors how to behave. Happypenguins82 (talk) 12:21, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting new page reviewer rights

I'd like to help clear the current backlog by participating in the May backlog drive. I've been moderately active in AFD (with my votes/nominations predominantly aligning with the final outcome of the AFD). I have created four articles on Wikipedia (including one that is currently awaiting a second opinion for GA status . EaglesFan37 (talk) 18:29, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

User:Crestfalling

I'm interested in helping out with the May drive. I've helped write five GA articles (three of them having had minimal content prior to being rewritten), created a reasonably substantial new article, and participated in AfD three times with thorough votes each time. I also have experience patiently explaining policies and guidelines to new users, as can be seen with my answers to mentee questions on my talk page. Thanks for your time, and I'm open to answering any questions if needed. Crestfalling (talk/contribs) 00:26, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

User:Flyingphoenixchips

I had been working on removing promotional and non notable content particularly, SOAP and brochure-style language, tagging pages under notability concerns, and nominating for CSD G11 or AfD where sourcing relies entirely on the subject's own materials. I understand the distinction between articles that need improvement and those that cannot be salvaged, and I know to use the Curation Tool to tag and communicate rather than make unilateral calls that discourage good-faith editors. New pages are where promotional abuse hits hardest and earliest, and I want the NPR right to address it at that stage, consistently and correctly. I also would like to help with the backlog. Hello, I'd like to request New page reviewer rights, I have been actively contributing by creating multiple articles and improving existing content. I consistently aim to follow community guidelines and ensure the accuracy and quality of the information I add. I'd like to get more involved in the present day on Wiki and this seems a good place to start.

Thank you for considering my request. Sir Banking (talk) 06:45, 5 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi @Sir Banking, this permission is normally given to people who have experience of evaluating articles and content because new page patrollers have to assess new articles for things like notability, promotion, and copyright. Do you have any experience of that? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:30, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
Good morning sir, yes, I am experienced in terms of notability criteria, promotion, and copyright issues. I am familiar with the rules governing this Wikipedia and am willing to demonstrate this experience during a trial period if necessary. I would be happy to help. Thank you very much. Hi, I'd like to request NPP rights to participate in the May NPP drive. I primarily do counter-vandalism work, and I have rollback rights. I believe that I have gained enough knowledge from my vandalism work to warrant being eligible for NPP permissions, and I would love to be able to help during the drive. I believe that I meet all of the criteria, but if I don't please let me know what I can work on! Thanks in advance :) NuggFrog (talk) 12:15, 6 May 2026 (UTC)

So I totally glazed over the 500 mainspace edits part, so unless I am somehow eligible, I apologize for putting this in. I very much did not read the requirements properly NuggFrog (talk) 13:05, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
No worries NuggFrog, that's a common and understandable mistake.  Not done for the bot, feel free to reapply once you hit the prerequisite (I'd also encourage participating at WP:AFD and/or creating new articles yourself, as these are the main two areas of activity that are looked at for considering this permission and you don't appear to have been active there yet). signed, Rosguill talk 14:46, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
I am curious, is the participation in XfD and New Article Creation just to show knowledge of how the wiki runs, or is it an actual requirement that can't be substituted? I feel very confident in my Wikipedia knowledge and how a good article is supposed to look from my CVU work, so would that be a substitute, or would I be required to participate in those areas? I'm very much more of a reviewer, not a writer, and to be honest internet discussions somewhat terrify me. Cheers, and I appreciate the advice. NuggFrog (talk) 16:46, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
NuggFrog, it's not a strict requirement, but generally speaking it's a much stronger signal that you understand the relevant core content and inclusion guidelines than CVU work, which often is a lot more about spotting and reverting problematic diffs rather than assessing a whole article. I'd add that if you do participate in new page reviewing, you should expect to end up at AFD fairly regularly to discuss articles that do not quite meet notability guidelines. signed, Rosguill talk 19:05, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for your clarification. I'm currently working on trying to get some AfD comments in now, so we'll see what happens. Cheers :) NuggFrog (talk) 19:20, 6 May 2026 (UTC)

Merely a question: I started recent changes patrolling on March 16, which is when I started using Twinkle. I had assumed my original request was rejected based on the fact I hadn't yet reached the required mainspace edits, which I've reached. Am I incorrect on this fact?
