In addition to emergency medical services, SARS operates a K9 Search Team, an EMS Training Center, a Tactical EMS Team, and provides administrative billing services for other EMS organizations. Under its original charter in 1938, SARS was formed to provide Firefighter rehabilitation service, modeled after the nearby Second Alarmer's Association of Philadelphia.
