The Consulate General of Sweden, Munich was the diplomatic mission of Sweden in Munich between ? and 1993. The consulate originated from the honorary consulate opened in 1886, which was converted into a consulate in ? and into a consulate general in 1978.

History

Konsulatet upprättades genom kungligt brev den 22 oktober 1886 med distrikt omfattande bayerska provinserna Upper Bavaria och Lower Bavaria samt Swabia.[1]

Den 7 augusti 2026 beslutade svenska regeringen att öppna ett generalkonsulat München. Syftet var att bidra till att skapa högre tillväxt i Sverige, stärka svensk konkurrenskraft och öka intresset för Sverige som investeringsland. Generalkonsulatet i München avses bemannas med tre utsända från UD varav en generalkonsul, tillika myndighetschef. Etableringen ska vara genomförd senast den 31 december 2027.[2]
