Avon Island is a river island located along the River Avon in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Although not known well outside Stratford-upon-Avon, the island has become an urban legend. According to the legend, the island hosts an underground tribe of people that survived falling in the River Avon, with the earliest sightings originating from the seventeenth century. Although there is no genuine evidence to support the existence of these people, it is rumoured that they speak a mix of old English and modern English.
