Gershenfeld in Epstein Files 966 times

Reason: GreenC is blocking Epstein file information which is highly relevant to Wikipedia readers. I added this new information about Epstein file mentions from an investigative report published recently. I fact checked it. GreenC who discloses being paid by INTERNET ARCHIVE (founded by Brewster Kahle who is also mentioned in the Epstein files) has removed the added information from three different wikipedia pages. I added the relevant information (that Gershenfeld appears 966 times) to the edit that GreenC did and GreenC removed the brief sentence right away. I have reinstated that sentence and I am requesting page protection. This is the first time I deal with anything like this (targeted and personal) so please tell me if there is anything else I should do. GreenC was personally contacted by Gershenfeld about original edit. GreenC is unsure whether there is a conflict of interest since they know each other from graduate school. Here is GreenC's last edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Neil_Gershenfeld&diff=next&oldid=1348649555  Preceding unsigned comment added by DrJuana (talkcontribs) 20:31, 13 April 2026 (UTC) (diff)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.
  • ...the current protection is logged as an arbitration enforcement action made within the last year. Such actions may only be appealed to the protecting administrator, WP:AE, WP:AN, or WP:ARCA.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Semi-protection: Protected for nine years at ECP and has no connection to any contentious topics on Wikipedia. MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 06:07, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

@MakaylaHippo1998: WP:CT/BLP (WP:Requests for arbitration/Editing of Biographies of Living Persons) still applies to this article, and the reason for protection was sockpuppetry. Have you done anything to check to see if said sockmaster is still around? —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 06:40, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Said sockmaster does not still appear to be around, I checked the protecting admin's block and page protection history and the sockmaster seems to have died out by 2019 based off of limited evidence. Unfortunately, nowhere did they explicitly mention who the sockmaster officially was, so I'd put a question mark around everything. Will ping @5 albert square as protecting admin to make the call here but from what I see there is no clear evidence that the LTA is still active. MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 07:28, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, if you are unable to add a request to the article's talk page, you may use this page to propose a specific edit to be performed. Vague requests that don't propose a specific edit will be declined. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

2026 Minab school attack

On 28 February 2026, the first day of the 2026 Iran war... a girls' elementary school was destroyed by an ***American*** missile strike

Talk:Gamergate

I am requesting a reduction in the protection level of the Talk:Gamergate page. While I understand why the main article is locked under contentious topic restrictions due to historical edit warring, restricting access to the Talk page itself prevents new or unregistered editors from bringing up legitimate, policy-based concerns.

I have a specific, constructive discussion I want to open regarding the article's current prose—specifically addressing issues with WP:TONE, WP:QUOTEFARM, and WP:COATRACK. I am not looking to dispute the reliable sources or the FAQ consensus; I simply want to request a copyedit from experienced users to make the article more clinical and encyclopedic. However, because the Talk page is also walled off, I am completely barred from even suggesting these structural improvements.

Given that the height of the controversy was a decade ago, keeping the Talk page locked actively hinders WP:BRD (Bold, Revert, Discuss) and prevents the community from receiving good-faith feedback on how to improve the article's writing quality. I request that the talk page protection be lowered so constructive feedback can be submitted. ~2026-22957-49 (talk) 18:54, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

Lowering a page's protection level can be requested at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Decrease; please request this there. I am bad at usernames (talk · contribs) 19:42, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

Hi everyone, I've created 55 articles dating back to 2010. In that time, five have been deleted, but only one since 2017. Another one was recreated, so only four deletions overall. One of my fairly recent articles, Hymns from the Rig Veda, was selected a few months ago for the Main Page 'Did You Know' column. Hoping you will consider me for AP, cheers. merlinVtwelve (talk) 06:09, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Xtools shows you've created no articles in 2026 and 11 in 2025, with only one since August of last year. Do you intend to increase your content creation? Otherwise there's not really any benefit to being autopatrolled because at this pace your creations are not a meaningful burden for patrollers to review. Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:12, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
Indeed, I've been on something of a WikiBreak recently. However, I have some articles that I'm developing offline at the moment and intend to start getting back into article creation in the near future. merlinVtwelve (talk) 20:04, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

I have created approximately 30 articles to date. On April 4th, one of my articles, the Pacific Marine Mammal Center was recently listed on the Wikipedia main page in the "Did you know..." section with the hook, "... that lungworms led to the creation of the Pacific Marine Mammal Center?" I believe this demonstrates my commitment to adhering to WP policies well beyond the basic requirements, having created a newly written article of sufficient quality to placement on the main page. @Gjb0zWxOb: why does PMMC meet WP:NORG? Why does Privacy4Cars meet WP:NCORP? voorts (talk/contributions) 04:33, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
For PMMC, the center received significant, in-depth coverage that focused on the center specifically in outlets such as the LA Times, Orange County Register, and many others, even about specific developments it was doing like the $14 million expansion and the organization's founding story. Privacy4Cars is covered extensively in many reliable sources and its products were described substantively in CNBC, Consumer Reports, Vice, and AP News coverage that is more than a passing mention but admittedly, a number of the sources discuss vehicle data privacy broadly and only mention P4C but I do think that the substantive description of the Corp's product from a diverse group of highly reputable sources does assist in having it meet NCORP. Gjb0zWxOb (talk) 15:22, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
@Gjb0zWxOb: WP:SIRS requires secondary sourcing. For PMMC in particular, those all seem to be primary sources or routine coverage. voorts (talk/contributions) 15:40, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
I would like to understand your concern better. The 2016 OC Register article is a secondary source written by an independent journalist about the organization's founding and history and the 2023 LA Times article substantially covers the $14 million expansion of the center. Many of the other sources I used are similarly staff-written articles from independent reliable publications that go beyond routine reporting. There may be a couple sources used that are routine coverage, but I believe that the article as a whole has sufficient independent, reliable, secondary sourcing to meet NORG. I have created over 100 articles on Wikipedia. Two of them were apparently deleted, but that was over 5 years ago when I first started editing and had no clue about Wikipedia policy. I frequently split new articles out of redirects from other ones, especially obscure language articles, and none of my articles violate major content policies. One of my more recent articles, being Solar eclipse of October 22, 2137 BC, was featured on the DYK column of the main page. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 05:20, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

I want to find all the pages titled Thout 1, Thout 2, Thout 3, etc and redirect them to Thout, and do this for all the other articles about Category:Days of the Coptic calendar. This is because those pages are hard to maintain, and all the information on them is on the month articles anyway. But there are 366 of them, so it would be very tedious to do this manually. 🎸平沢唯は俺の嫁🐱 ( talk | contribs ) 22:43, 29 March 2026 (UTC)

I checked with the "enforcing administrator" who removed my WP:XC privileges and they recommended that I post here since they did not have the time. According to the result from my ArbCom enforcement, this right would be removed "until Edittttor has made enough manual non-repetitive edits to earn the right." I regularly move pages on biological species and higher taxa. This can be because the taxonomy has changed based on new research or to help organise pages based on current project guidelines (titles for articles, monotypic taxa, etc). Generally I have just asked someone else with the rights to help on talk pages, but it would be more convenient for all if I could do this myself. I'm a template editor, so am already trusted to have the technical expertise to make edits that can affect many pages.    Jts1882 | talk  13:53, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Hi! I previously held page mover for two months but then got distracted by my personal live, but now am back. I didn't think I'd want it back already but while working the trenches in recent changes and NPP the odd situation with new and confused users presented itself on a few occasions already. I think being able to help these users quickly and right then would make their experience a lot better than explaining RMTR and its workings, potentially making them stay as an editor.

I don't think I'd want to do mainly page moves from the get-go but rather helping where I come across it.

User:Itcouldbepossible

I have been active for around four years now, and have become involved in New Page Patrol recently (though I don't have the right yet!) As a reviewer, I come across articles that have potential but are not yet ready for mainspace, and I have to draftify them to follow the most constructive path forward. However, moving these articles currently leaves behind a cross-namespace redirect in the mainspace. Granting me the page mover permission would allow me to suppress these redirects at the time of the move. This will also eliminate the need for WP:R2 or WP:G8 speedy deletion requests, thereby saving significant administrative work. I had the right granted for a period of 3 months in the past, and I would like to have them permanently for the ease of my work.  Itcouldbepossible Talk 13:00, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

I'm not seeing consensus to move here. voorts (talk/contributions) 00:01, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Your rationale also has some issues. Nobody discussed COMMONNAME in the discussion, and the Google Maps name isn't relevant in determining the official name of a place. voorts (talk/contributions) 00:02, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
I would suggest relisting the discussion. voorts (talk/contributions) 00:03, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
To be fair, I would have closed it the same way because of a mix of WP:RMNOMIN and WP:IAR. The only other participant isn't really contesting the move, no one has outright opposed after two relists, and searching myself plus the links given by the nominator show that the name is probably an error. The rationale could be better though. HurricaneZetaC 00:22, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) Though outside of that there's not a lot of activity in RMs or moves. @Itcouldbepossible you just returned after 2 years, so I think you should get more experience before re-requesting this perm. WP:RMCI might be helpful, and you can always review WP:NC and its various subpages whenever relevant. HurricaneZetaC 00:28, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Hi @Voorts, thank you for your feedback. I agree that my closing rationale was poorly phrased should have explicitly referenced the official Boulder County plat documents that the nominator had provided in the nomination, but I will still stand firmly of my action of moving the page, rather than relisting it for a third time, mainly because of two reasons. The request had been open for over a month and had already had relisting been done twice. There was no opposition, and the only other participant Speederzzz, had initially asked for proof, and the nominator duly provided the official government plats, and Speederzzz's response was, I presume, positive. Therefore, relisting an unopposed move for a third time felt unnecessarily bureaucratic. Secondly, even though no one had explicitly mentioned about WP:COMMONNAME in the discussion, I felt that the nominator's evidence about local HOA names and bus routes, was a fundamental COMMONNAME argument, and the country's plat evidence did establish WP:OFFICIALNAME. And hence, I weighed the strength of the evidence against our naming conventions, rather than just counting which shortcuts were name dropped.

Hi @HurricaneZeta, thank you for pointing me to WP:RMCI and WP:NC; I am going to read through those and will try and spend the next few weeks participating and gain some experience.

If the reviewing admin feels it is best to decline this request for now while I get those "reps" in, I completely understand and will reapply when I have a stronger recent track record.Thank you everyone for the constructive feedback! Itcouldbepossible Talk 09:12, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Rollback

User:Sigma440

I've been patrolling recent changes for a while now and I'd like to try using some of the more semi-automated tools (Huggle, RedWarn, etc.) to make the job a little easier. I've just been using the "undo" function, but being able to warn users through a program would be helpful for the task. Sigma440 (talk) 06:03, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Sigma440 FYI Redwarn, Ultraviolet and Twinkle don't require the rollback permission, and all allow for easier warnings of users. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 13:23, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Speaking on the merits of giving rollback; I did a spot check of some 20 or so reverts in the mainspace within the past 500 edits and they seemed all good, though I focused on reverts with 'rvv' or no custom edit summary. Sigma440 has a good ratio of mainspace to user talk, indicating they are reliably giving warnings. The lack of edits to AIV (only 16) is a bit strange. There doesn't appear to be a solid month of counter-vandalism (at least recently), more on and off, but it appears to have been happening since January 2024. I think there is low risk in giving complete rollback, or if a trial is desired maybe something like 3 months would be best. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 15:07, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback.
I'd say I go through phases of being able to spend time looking out for questionable edits on Wikipedia; it mainly depends on how much extra free time I have besides work. There are honestly weeks (sometimes months) where I'm just so exhausted that I don't find myself doing much else. I checked my calendar and saw that I'd likely have more availability for Wikipedia business in the near future so I figured I'd apply for rollback and try out some of the tools that actually require that particular permission. Anything to make the patrolling job easier or more efficient is a plus in my book.
In any case, I appreciate your thoughts on the whole thing! It's nice to hear advice from folks who know a thing or two about things around here. Sigma440 (talk) 03:53, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting rollback rights: I have been primarily reverting bad faith edits by confirmed sock puppets on the page Average human height by country. I also edit a variety of other pages, but the primary one concerned with reverting vandalism is that page. This page has had at least one confirmed user who constantly vandalizes the page and creates new sock puppets to do so. It would be appreciated if I were granted rollback privileges, because it takes a long time to manually undo vandalism, especially when it happens at a fairly high frequency. My account has over 200 main page edits and I do not have a history getting in trouble, edit warring, or vandalizing pages. I do have a history getting multiple sock puppet accounts banned and reverting their vandalism. Quantum Mechanical Engineer (talk) 21:53, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Quantum Mechanical Engineer, I'm not seeing the month of experience patrolling Special:RecentChanges that is expected of rollbackers. Reverting bad sock edits is good, but looking at the page history of Average human height by country rollback wouldn't help much. Template editor

User:StefenTower

As I am expanding my WikiProject development work, I need the ability to change the content model of some Wikipedia namespace pages to set up .CSS pages for styling purposes. Also, I anticipate occasionally having the need to make edits to high-use templates, especially related to WikiProjects - although certainly in those cases, if there is the least possibility for controversy, I will ask on the Talk page. I should have enough background with template creation and modifications, but note I've done a lot of template-like creation/editing in the Wikipedia and user namespaces which may exceed that in the Template namespace (ex. Wikipedia:WikiProject Louisville's front page, which transcludes much of what is displayed, most of which are my template-like creations in subpages).

I've also recently modified a couple semi-protected high-use templates with no issues from my work since the change ({{Assessment Class Summary}}, {{New entry}}). Additionally, I have created a couple modules (so far). I realize creating database reports may not appear to constitute template/module creation on their face, but the many I've worked on demonstrate a reasonably deep technical capability, including the common need to create subtemplates that reports transclude.

Last, I will handle TE requests on an ad hoc basis, although I admit that's not the core rationale for my request.

I have thoroughly read the guidelines with respect to this user right, and I will abide by them. the Stefen 𝕋ower 08:49, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

Stefen, I'm a bit confused as to why you want this perm, because from my read of your request none of what you want to edit is likely to be template-protected. Primefac (talk) 10:00, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Well, these instances will admittedly be unusual (although I recently requested a change in a high-traffic template recently), but I'm more interested in being able to change the content model of a page for .CSS when necessary. It's a shame that capability cannot be given to experienced editors on its own. But yes, running into high-traffic templates to change is not on my regular path of wiki work. the Stefen 𝕋ower 10:26, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
.css files are not locked by default, which is why I am having difficulty assessing your need for the perm. Could you give some examples of what sort of edits you would be making, and examples of where you weren't able to do this because of protection? Primefac (talk) 10:54, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Changing content models is restricted to template editors. – SD0001 (talk) 15:53, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
How often will do you need to change the content model though, could you point to examples? Sohom (talk) 17:38, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Examples of when I've had the content model changed before was for Wikipedia:WikiProject Louisville/Infobox/styles.css and Wikipedia:WikiProject Louisville/Navigation/styles.css.
This is one of those kinds of things where I'm not busy doing it right now but I anticipate needing to do it in the coming months to improve WikiProjects. It's either going to be me 1) changing the content models myself (with the TE user right); or 2) pestering a TE/admin to change them for me. I don't like to pester people for simple changes - it's somewhat disincentivizing to me getting things done that depend on such changes. the Stefen 𝕋ower 21:54, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Create a subpage of Template:TemplateStyles sandbox and move it wherever you want. (also the next meta:Tech/News tells me there will be software changes which will allow anyone to create such content model pages anywhere on wiki). I'm leaning decline here. Sohom (talk) 03:45, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
I also just got the tech news. So I tested creating pages with sanitized-css in user and project space, and it works. Thus, I am withdrawing my request. Any necessity for me having this right is now very much diminished, thanks to this unexpected development.
Thank you all for considering my request and asking pertinent questions. A very good solution fell into our laps. the Stefen 𝕋ower 19:55, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
They are not locked in the template space, but they are in the Wikipedia and user namespaces, per my experience. And not being able to change the content model in my user space makes it impossible to test a .css subpage for a page I'm developing. the Stefen 𝕋ower 21:57, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

I would like to request the "temporary account IP viewer" permission to help fight persistent vandalism by IPs using multiple temporary accounts more quickly and efficiently, as users who engage in dynamic IP hopping while vandalising Wikipedia cannot be as easily traced. Most of my 2500-plus edits over the last three years are related to reverting vandalism using Huggle, and I ensure vandals are warned appropriately after reverting their edits. However, this IP information would allow me to make more useful reports, so that temporary accounts and the underlying IPs/ranges performing similar actions on similar pages can all be reported and dealt with efficiently.
