- During March 1884, the Sneath Glass works burned in Tiffin.[2]
- Sneath Glass to start in Hartford City, Indiana (June 1894).[3]
- In 1897, the company received a single order for 50,000 dozen lantern globes, and it was estimated that it would take five months to fill the order.[4]
- Issues with railroad service caused difficulties for the factory in 1897. Raw materials and products had to be hauled by wagon from the other end of town.[5]
- During February 1900, Sneath Glass Company closed because of a strike by about 50 mold boys. This caused 200 workmen to be not working. The non-union company makes railroad lantern globes and semaphores (signaling apparatuses).[6] The strike "came to nothing", since the strikers were replaced and the company had so many applications that they had to turn some away.[7]
- During March 1900, the non-union glass blowers at Sneath Glass went on strike for higher wages. The plant has a 12-pot furnace, and makes chimneys and lantern globes.[8]
- By 1905, the Sneath factory was without close shipping facilities, and would soon be switching to coal as fuel for its furnaces. This meant that the company would have to move to another location because the coal would arrive by rail. The town began raising money to help the company move to a better location. An abandoned plant owned by the American Window Glass Company was the choice for the new location, and it would need to be remodeled.[9] The new plant (for Sneath) would have more than double the capacity of the original plant located on the city's north side, and would employ approximately 180 people. It had excellent railroad shipping facilities, and consist of multiple buildings.[10]
