Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Zionism

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because ....... . ~2026-18119-88 (talk) 08:47, 24 March 2026 (UTC) Reasom: The protection, specifically on the talk page not the article page, is not necessary because turning it on was abuse of power. The page for Zionism has multiple inaccuracies that push an antisemitic rethoric. The first paragraph claims that Zionism is the goal of Jews to colonize Palestine and have a state with as many Jews and as little Arabs as possible. That is wrong and harmful in multiple ways. Zionism is the believe that Jews have the right of return to their ancestral homeland and the goal of having the country in said homeland, the land of Israel. Notice how this definition does not include "as many Jews and as little Arabs". First of all it's true that by Zionism all Jews have the right to live in their homeland and it is supported for Jews in the diaspora to make an Aliah- or move to Israel. That would be fine to mention but that is not a part of the basic definition of Zionism. As little Arabs is just plain lie, the definition of Zionism has nothing to do with the percentage of Arabs living in Israel, which is a significant one, and puts up no goal to get rid of them. This sentence was added to push an Antisemitic rethoric that Zionism is Jews coming and just wanting to kick out Arabs from their homes, when it is just the believes that Jews also have the right to have a country. Forever- In Palestine through colonization. Calling this land Palestine lacks historic context. It was added to make it sound like there was a Palestinian country named Palestine there was a specific goal to colonize. When in reality, as pointed out by the Author the Zionist movement was started when the land of Israel was under Ottoman rule, and colonized by the Ottman empire, in which point In history it was not called Palestine. In fact the name is an ancient greek/roman name for the land, to which they changed it from Judea after colonization to further it from it Jewish origin. The name of the land returned to Palestine/Palestine(The Land Of Israel) in hebrew under the Beitish mendate- again under colonization, and under a name that is colonized. Than regarding the occupation of Palestine through colonization - we have discussed already that at the start of the Zionist movement there were no "Palestine" since the name was revived under british rule, and that by the definition of Zionism is building a jewish state in the jewish ancestral homeland. Now returning to the use of the word colonization - this is pushing a rethoric yet again that the goal of Jews with Zionism is to push out indigenous Arabs out of the land, first of all the goal was to mave to the land, not to push anyone out. Second of all, there are archeological finds dating Jewish civilization in the land of Israel to times BC, while the first remaining of Arab civilization is under colonization of Arabic empire in the 7th century. How can you colonize a land you are indigenous to? Proven historically. All and all the page is filled with inaccuracies that were written to fuel a hate of Jews. I an requesting to open the discussion page because locking it enables users to shine a light on all the wrong details in the page. If you are unwilling to do so I will request that the page will be fixed to a more historically accurate and less biased definition and portrayal. Because now it is plainly wrong and hateful, and you living it up on your site with no option to even comment on all the wrong and biased details should feel responsible for promoting misinformation in a subject that is full of it as it is.

Declined It's a contentious topic related to the Arab-israeli conflict, so people must be logged-in and extended-confirmed to edit or discuss this topic on any page (except for making edit requests, provided they are not disruptive). Lectonar (talk) 08:57, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

Portal:Current events/2026 February 28

I request that sections such as 2026 Iranian strikes on Israel, 2026 Iranian strikes on the United Arab Emirates, 2026 Iranian strikes on Kuwait, and 2026 Iranian strikes on Bahrain be added to Portal:Current events/2026 February 28 to organize entries about the start of the 2026 Iran war. For example, several entries concerning the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain would fit under these sections, such as:

One person is killed and seven others are wounded in an Iranian airstrike on Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, while four are injured in a similar airstrike on Dubai International Airport.

Autopatrolled

User:TinaLees-Jones

User has created over 900 live articles, mainly all relating to Asian people and places. None of the articles I've randomly spot checked have any major issues that would prevent them from passing muster in NPP. SnowyRiver28 (talk) 01:15, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

@Toadspike You might be more of a domain-knowledge expert on Chinese topics and be better positioned to evaluate this request (I don't see any obvious problems tbh). Sohom (talk) 03:21, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
@Sohom Datta Last time they requested this right I found worrying source-text integrity issues . I'd have to take another look to see if that has improved. I have no concerns about the notability of their creations. Toadspike [Talk] 07:00, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Veggiegalaxy

Hi! I'm hoping to be considered for autopatrolled. I've created 77 live mainspace articles spanning biographies, film, NYC landmarks, and internet culture. My articles are well sourced and I consistently adhere to WP:BLP, WP:RS, WP:NPOV, etc. I'm also responsive - if one of my articles needs something, I'm responsive! I try to take care to go through the AfC process if I'm uncertain about notablility or something about my article.

I've also been getting more involved in other areas of Wikipedia — I review AfC submissions and participate in AfD discussions, both of which have made me a more careful article creator.

My one mainspace deletion was a lesson well learned — it taught me a lot about WP:NOTNEWS and has shaped how I evaluate topics going forward. I'd love to help reduce the review backlog! Veggiegalaxy (talk) 01:06, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

Not done. This is very rarely granted ahead of the usual automatic granting criteria. I think you may have intended to request event coordinator instead of extended confirmed? If so, you should request on the correct page. stwalkerster (talk) 11:17, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Falcão Alado

Hi. I'm an autopatrolled user in ptwiki, and we're running some tests to change the URC rules locally (me and other sysops). I need the extendedconfirmed status here, beacause we are trying to leverage the existing code from the English project, and I need to have the rights to upload files without barrers. I do not pretend to upload any file locally, just want to run some tests to see the File Upload Wizard working. If there's any questions, you shall see my user sandbox in ptwiki. Thanks. Falcão Alado (talk) 14:30, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

What is URC? Is there a reason you can't use the test wiki for this? voorts (talk/contributions) 19:52, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
Ey. URC is the portuguese for the English WP:NFC. We call that "Ultra Restricted Content". The main reason that I'm asking the role is because I don't know exactely how the wizard works here. I'm unable even to see what's next after clicking "upload a non-free file". It's just to be able to view all the boxes and questions in a script which is really working before going to the Test Wiki with a working .js, that I already have for my test page, cause' I do not pretend to upload any file. Falcão Alado (talk) 20:20, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
I don't think this is really a sufficient reason to grant extended confirmed, but I'll keep this open so a more technically-minded admin can tell you how to test this without extended confirmed here. Best, voorts (talk/contributions) 20:26, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
@Chaotic Enby can you help with this? voorts (talk/contributions) 20:27, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
From what I understand, you could request interface administrator on test.wiki (this seems like a good enough reason for it) and do your tests there, uploading free or even blank files for testing if needed. I've done a similar thing when working on the Unblock Wizard. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 20:45, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello User:NDNT. Could you tell use more about the event you're organising? And will you be organising things on English Wikipedia or on French Wikipedia, where you seem to have more edits. You're very new still on English Wikipedia, and while we sometimes grant temporary event coordinator rights to very new users, we'd like a bit more information. —Femke 🐦 (talk) 19:40, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
It is on French Wikipedia, my Project was approved by WikiFranca. NDNT (talk) 20:06, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
In that case, you can request the user role on French Wikipedia, which takes place on their administrators' noticeboard. The roles on French and English Wikipedia are separate, and most of the benefits of each are localized to their respective projects. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 20:57, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

I previously applied for this permission some years ago (August 2023), and was granted a 1-month trial. I then applied for full rights, but was declined due to some problems with nominations and approvals (including in draftspace). I've taken some time to review the basics for surviving AfD, and am requesting another shot at this (even if it is only for another month). I feel like I can contribute meaningfully to NPP, especially given that the backlog is rapidly growing. If it will not be granted due to those concerns, I completely understand.

Thank you for considering my request :) Losipov (talk) 21:39, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

I've created, edited, and fixed a lot of articles. I mainly contribute to Pakistan-related articles and have been monitoring new articles feed for some time now. User:JournalJane

I would like to apply for NPP and AfC reviewer permissions. I believe I meet the prerequisites for both.

I’ve continued contributing to Wikipedia, initially in sailing-related topics and now expanding more broadly. Following prior feedback, I’ve also spent time participating in AfD discussions, which has helped me better understand notability, sourcing, and distinguishing between articles that need improvement versus deletion.

I’ve enjoyed learning from other editors and my wiki mentors, and I would be glad to help reduce the backlog while continuing to improve my own understanding.

Thank you for your consideration. JournalJane (talk) 21:02, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) @JournalJane, I hate to ask but are you using LLMs to vote in AfDs? All of your votes sound similar and have the LLM tone to it, and here one was even hatted. Remember that participation in AfDs is to determine if that page is worthy of inclusion, and generic LLM comments don't add much. Constructive, human-written comments improve the discussion and help admins to gauge your understanding of notability here. NPPs and AfC reviewers run into a lot of LLM-generated content that is in violation of a recently updated guideline and try to curtail it. HurricaneZetaC 21:22, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing that out, I understand the concern.
I’m not using LLMs to generate AfD votes. I’ve been trying to follow a consistent structure in my comments so they stay neutral and policy-based, which may be why they read similarly. I can see how that comes across, and I’ll make an effort to vary my wording more and tailor each comment to the specific discussion.
I do take each AfD seriously, and all of my votes reflect my own assessment.
Appreciate the feedback. JournalJane (talk) 22:16, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) I have raised this issue at WP:LLMN#Possible LLM-generated AFD participation. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 01:25, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
Not done: like the people at the LLM noticeboard I don't find your response credible (indeed it seems to be LLM-generated itself), and at any rate I don't think you have enough experience for this right at the moment. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 16:42, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Rollback

User:Phlogiston Enthusiast

Hello! I am Phlogiston Enthusiast. I would like a moment of your time to request rollback rights. I believe that I could use rollback permissions to assist in anti-vandalism in the recent changes tab. There are multiple reasons for this. For one, it would streamline reverts on articles that need them, and be a useful tool against vandalism. This is because if a user is making edits of a vandalistic nature, they are likely to have made multiple. Rollback would assist with these issues and prevent long and drawn-out revert wars by vandals. Second, I believe that I meet the qualifications for the role. I possess experience patrolling the recent changes section, and have reverted many vandalous edits. If need be, I can attempt to provide a comprehensive list of the articles on which I have combatted vandalism. Finally, I understand that it looks bad to have had two arguments over vandalism-related subjects in the past. However, I would argue that this is almost the opposite, as having a clean record with no mistakes would mean that I had no mistakes to learn from, and as well I have apologized to all parties involved in both. In summary, I believe that I should possess rollback rights as to better combat vandalism, and if need be there can be elaboration. If not, I completely understand.

Ammending: this was written roughly a month ago. I was told that I would need one month's experience more before I should re-apply. I have since aqquired more than this. I have been the cause for scores of blocks and have better since de-vandalized the Wiki. Following my embarrasing mishap recently reguarding confusion over the tool, I have better researched it and now believe I would be more fit to utilize this. Also every instance of this one. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 17:20, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

After doing both again today I'm up to 1093. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 16:25, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) That isn't really relevant to rollback though; admins will check your edits when they review this, and reverts and counter-vandalism is what matters for rollback. HurricaneZetaC 16:40, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
Okay, sorry. Just trying to say I understand to an extent what does and does not break syntax. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 16:51, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
Also worth ammending is that it would provide access to interceptor, which is a useful tool I believe I could do a great deal of antivandalism with in a way that is more efficient than the typical recent changes page. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 18:33, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Also of note: I am now a Pending Changes Reviewer. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 14:49, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) Phlogiston Enthusiast, an admin will review the needed information. I don't see how a lot of these notes are relevant to rollback; pending changes requires some overlapping skills with rollback (such as the ability to effectively determine what is vandalism), but it is an entirely different right for good reason, and does require different skills. Rollback's primary purpose is to assist with recent changes patrolling. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 21:53, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Adding comment so it is clear this is still open and so it doesn't get archived from inactivity. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 16:01, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Not to sound picky, just wanted to make sure two weeks of inactivity and lack of approval/denial wouldn't make this stagnate and die. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 19:21, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Adding another comment, since it has now been 22 without this being responded too and I don't want this to get archived. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 18:03, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
It has been twenty-seven days and there has been no administrator response, or even so much as a comment. In the most respectful way possible, I would like to know why, as other people have recieved responses in that time. (Talk) PHLOGISTON ENTHUSIAST 13:12, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

I would like to renew my rollback rights, because I have been using AntiVandal constructively, and the same other reasons as my most recent request. Theeverywhereperson talk here 11:14, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Namely:
  1. I am a recent changes patroller and have been patrolling for a few months now,
  2. I have made more than 700 edits in mainspace and more than 1700 edits in total,
  3. Since I am already a pending changes reviewer, I am also used to reverting vandalism in some areas where it isn't visible to everyone yet, so I think I am trained for the job,
  4. This would allow me to use tools like AntiVandal to revert vandalism easier and faster, for the benefit of Wikipedia as a whole.

Hello! I am already doing antivandal/recent change patrol work, and am alredy familiar with Twinkle, but wish for rollbacker permissions to be able to use more powerful tools, such as AntiVandal. Thank you for your consideration in advance! Legendbird (talk) 19:35, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Recently I have been facing disruptive editors who have been making edits extremely quickly. For example, HermeneuticMind, who was adding LLM-generated content to articles en masse, and Goldfishgonnabedeadsoon.

With rollback, I will be able to revert these unconstructive editors much faster than pressing the [vandalism] button with Twinkle for every one of their edits, which is inconvenient, inefficient and slow. -- ozmoozmo@enwiki (talk:contributions) 11:38, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

And will also be able to use more powerful tools such as WP:HG and WP:ANVDL. Thank you, ozmoozmo@enwiki (talk:contribs) 06:19, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
I'm a little concerned by the recent use of Ultraviolet to do a BLP revert on an article on someone who has been dead since 1984. Access to instant rollback needs to come with a pattern of not just automatically reverting without carefully checking the context. --Ahecht (TALK

I’d like to request rollback rights. I’ve been reverting clear vandalism and unsourced edits on several pages, using concise edit summaries and staying out of any edit warring. I understand the purpose of rollback and would use it only for obvious vandalism and disruptive edits. AriuCH (talk) 01:22, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi! I am requesting rollback rights today so that I can be more effective in my work within the CVU. My two primary areas I work in are counter vandalism and copyvio, and my job in both departments would be a lot easier if I had rollback permissions. I am very interested in trying tools such as Interceptor, AntiVandal, and Wikishield so that I can be the most efficient counter vandalism volunteer as I can. Thanks in advance :) NuggFrog (talk) 05:26, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Template editor

User:CharlesEditor23

I am once again requesting the template editor right. I have met the guidelines for granting, especially number 4, which is that I have had no behavioral blocks or WP:3RR violations for a minimum of six (6) months or more. The main reason why I am requesting the template editor right again is so that I may be able to make productive, meaningful contributions to protected templates such as Module:Gridiron color/data & Module:College color/data that are in line with established WP:CONSENSUS with many other editors. I believe that if granted the template editor right again, I can demonstrate that I will avoid the first criteria for revocation, which is performing obviously controversial edits without first determining WP:CONSENSUS. I will also demonstrate that I will only use wise & prudent template editing and test my changes in the sandboxes first. CharlesEditor23 (talk) 05:47, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

See and for previous requests  Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:21, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
I'm a bit torn. On the one hand, they have had all but one module edit request accepted (and the other partly done) since their last request in September. On the other hand, I am concerned about these edits; they were rightly made in the sandbox, but only because the /data module is template-protected. This is the same sort of thing that was happening as far back as 2021 and led to their rights being revoked. I also found this which is not the right way to make a dummy edit.
Now, have I done similar things in the past? Sure, I'm pretty sure there are a few from this year even. We shouldn't be expecting perfection out of a TPE, because that is just unrealistic. However, mistakes should be few and far between for a TPE or admin, and not happening often enough to get repeated warnings going back five years. Primefac (talk) 00:08, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
OK, so no, I guess I can never get approved again to get the WP:TPE right? What should I do or say to better my chances of being approved? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 07:10, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
I never said that; I am considering some things, primarily another short-term trial, but am waiting on other admins to comment. Primefac (talk) 14:52, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Temporary account IP viewer

User:Yerlo

I've been patrolling recent changes for a while now and would like access to TAIV rights. When I encounter an instance of clear vandalism, I usually check the editor's other contributions for other inappropriate edits. It is quite frustrating to see 2-5 or 6-10 other TAs on a shared IP address without being able to see the edits they made. Yerlo (talk) 21:27, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

I've been doing recent changes patrolling for quite awhile now, my account is 6+ months old, not including my IP address's old edits at Special:Contributions/71.59.186.230. I would like this IP viewer right because I believe it would make anti-vandalism easier and more streamlined for me. I am used to the old process of reverting and reporting IPs; and when we switched over to using temp-accounts instead, anti-vandalism got a bit more challenging. That being said, I believe I am ready and am willing to use the tool according to Wikipedia's policies. Thanks! ConnerTT (talk) 03:34, 23 March 2026 (UTC) ConnerTT (talk) 03:34, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
