Architecture of the medieval cathedrals of England
Hi there, I'm just letting you know that the above Good Article (promoted between 2006 and 2009) is very far away from the the current good article criteria (specifically criterion 2b); I was going to nominate it at WP:GAR before I noticed that you, the original nominator, are still semi-active. If you would like to work on it to try and retain the rating, or if you feel that you can't bring it to current standards, please ping me and let me know. - I am just looking at some of the nonsense in the discussion. Such as "It's the bit about "Winchester, St. Albans and Peterborough" having short towers. :I took it out. You put it back! --Northernhenge (talk) 21:12, 23 December 2024 (UTC)" .
- Oh dear! I suppose that MY knowing the heights of these towers and saying that the three are short is OR. Even i9f they are from 140-144 feet high, which is low for a cathedral. The reason why the statement needs to be in the article is to give a FULL pi8cture of what the cathedrals ar4e like, in comparison with each other. Universally, central towers on cathedrals aren a rare form. They are very much part of ENGLISH cathedral architecture. So the statement is not random or out of context. Even those Cathedrals where the tower is LOW, still have a tower.
- Does an encylcopedia needs EXPERT contribution to articles?
- Or does it simply need references?
- The article on Gothic architecture has been effectively ruined by t5wo people capable of finding references, but very short on real knowledge.
- I got sick of the arguments and took a long sabbatical.
- If you look at a number of my older articlers, you may find that quite a number do not conform.
- My suggestion is that they remain intact with a Grandfather clause.
- You eithern want well-written, logically composed articles that a student might use, or jumbles of well-referenced facts, that meet the ever-tightening criteria imposed by people with the mentality of Dolores Umbridge. imposing rules is the easy and untalented thing to do.
