Geonotices

A few points following up from the discussion on the NN geonotice. Firstly, sorry I didn't get to look at it - it was a bank holiday weekend here and I haven't been online much. Secondly, having added my name to the list of people to poke, I'll now have to admit I have no idea how we judge which requests should be actioned. My guess would be, either there should be an explicit consensus somewhere or we expect the request to be uncontroversial; is that about right? GoldenRing (talk) 11:15, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

@GoldenRing: Thanks again for volunteering! I was out in the sunshine as well most of yesterday :-)
In general, they're pretty much never controversial. The vast majority of them are local events and the most controversy that can arise from posting those is a bit of "well, I'm in XYZ and I personally don't care about that" grumbling.
It's rare that anything else gets posted - there were South African and Australian ones in 2017 (both to do with copyright campaigns), a couple of WikiProject ones targeting Indian users in 2016, and a couple of job ads in 2014 and 2013.
None of those seem to have been particularly controversial & so in this case, I sort of assumed that people would have a consensus for posting the notice before it went up - my fault for not digging deeper, really. I think you'd be safe to post anything that looks routine and only check details if it looks likely to be a particularly hot-button campaign. Andrew Gray (talk) 11:42, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

Welcoming myself to Scotland

Hi Andrew, I'm settling in to my new home and I found List_of_listed_buildings_in_Jedburgh,_Scottish_Borders which looked interesting. I've started to add bits but the "Notes" column holds "Category B" info and the Category column doesn't display.... and another had added "commonscat" but the reason is not obvious and this may be the cause of the problems I see. I see that its five years since you created this, so you may have just "moved on". Should I just charge in and make it how I want it or is there a model of best practice that I could use to fix it. Hope you're enjoying life. All the best. Roger Victuallers (talk) 20:37, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
