Hi. I was conversing at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_countries_by_system_of_government and saw your comment, but there was no reply button, so I came here.

I feel similarly to you, but we should try to figure out what to base the colours on. The colourblind map ( https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/19/Forms_of_government_%28color_blind_palette%29.svg ) has all systems with legislature-elected heads of government in shades of red to yellow, while those with directly elected heads of government are in shades of blue.

The standard map could copy this, but we should consider other ways of splitting the categories. Unfortunately, all systems differ in important ways: whether the head of state and government are different positions, how the head of government is elected, whether the head of state is elected, and the effect of votes of no confidence. We could base the colours on the method of selecting the head of government like the colourblind map, but we could also use any of the other variables. So we could lump the monarchies against the republics or whatever else.

I think we should find something, though. All of them are very different, but not enough for Guyana to look more like Iran than it does like Canada. 159.2.250.177 (talk) 21:27, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

Hello, Barjimoa.

The term "hyperpower" is used more widely than the term "foremost power" in English-language publications and sources, and it also appears more frequently on the internet.

The word "hyper" from the original English term "hyperpower" is used in other Wikipedia articles about this very same topic.

Shouldn't the article foremost power be renamed to the more widespread term hyperpower?

On second thought, I think the term "cultural superpower", even though it is used by various sources, may indeed sound somewhat peacocky, so I would prefer to avoid it in the Spain article's intro. A few days ago, I made a proposal to keep certain objective/historical cultural mentions of the country in the lead, while removing that term in favour of the wording proposed by user Moxy.

Could you restore the cultural content in the introduction of the Spain article? According to the majority consensus on the Talk page, restoring it is acceptable according WP rules.

You are probably one of the fairest users, particularly when it comes to potential WP:Puffery, and we both know that restoring Spain's cultural component in the introduction is a matter of fairness and consistency. That is why I am asking you this, and because I genuinely believe you share the same view.

I personally cannot add it myself, which is why I am making this request. I also do not want to do it myself nor comment in the Talk page because, honestly, I do not want to get involved in controversy or problems.

There have been various discussions about that topic, I have made the case that Spain's culture should be mentioned.
