Blacklisted sandbox
My sandbox User:Growpath/sandbox is blacklisted. Could you kindly remove this blacklisting? Many thanks. Growpath (talk) 16:39, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I don't know anything about how or why it might be blacklisted (or how to remove it). older ≠ wiser 16:51, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the fast response! But where do I go from here? (I'm relatively new to editing) Growpath (talk) 16:53, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @Favonian who sorted out your user page back in October might be able to help?
- But if your name is tangled up with some blacklisted entity, I wonder if it might be easier to change to a different username, at this relatively early point in your editing career? User:Pathgrow? Favonian might be able to advise, as they presumably understand what the blacklisting is about! PamD 18:04, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Growpath: I'm inclined to agree with PamD: changing your user name is the easiest way out of this. If I'm not mistaken, the blacklisting is due to the antics of a certain long-term nuisance who favored names somewhat similar to your preferred moniker. We don't mention that one's name – it's a Voldemort kind of thing. The (ab)user in question is, AFAIK, no longer active, but they have at least one admirer who practices the sincerest form of flattery. Giving in to the forces of imbecility is a a drag, but it's the easy way around the problem. Favonian (talk) 18:57, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for all your help and advice. I was hoping to stick with the current name as I've done quite a lot of edits. I think that the sandbox (which I've not looked at until now) was blocked at the same time as my user page, which you successfully unblocked; so I was hoping that you could just unblock the sandbox as well. But, of course, if its a problem doing that, I'll change my user name. Thanks again! Growpath (talk) 19:05, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Fixing one page (home page, sandbox, ...) is easy enough (for an admin), but the problem will recur every time you try to create a page with your username in it: user subpages, talk page archives, etc. A losing proposition in the long run. Favonian (talk) 19:20, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- OK thanks for that explanation. I'll apply for a name change. Growpath (talk) 19:23, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Favonian Is there any way in which the list of blacklisted usernames could connect into the username registration process, so that we don't get this situation where someone can create a username for themself, edit happily for some time, and only discover the problem when they try to create a user page? PamD 20:36, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Growpath See Wikipedia:Changing username, which explains that your previous edits will still be credited to your new name, which may be reassuring. PamD 20:41, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

Hello. I made an edit to ISCC yesterdat adding a description of the ISCC International Standard Content Code there with a link to the relevant ISO standard. Deleted my entry?
Hi. You removed my entry on re: John Bender. This lawyer has been covered in Time, Wall Street Journal, and many other publications. Is there something I need to change or edit so that it won’t be deleted again? ~2026-43852-0 (talk) 19:24, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- Each entry on a disambiguation page should have exactly one blue link that leads to an article that describes the subject. You linked to K&L Gates which contains no mention of anyone named 'Bender'. older ≠ wiser 20:33, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- I could have sworn I linked to the lawyer’s profile on the K&L Gates website. Sorry about that. I will resubmit with a correct link. ~2026-43852-0 (talk) 06:52, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) But that wouldn't be a reason to keep his link in the disambiguation page. Dab pages are a guide to information which already exists in Wikipedia articles, so if he isn't mentioned in a Wikipedia article he doesn't belong on that dab page. If and only if he is mentioned, adequately sourced, in the K&L Gates article, then he should be included in the dab page. PamD 08:57, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

Re-publish article with disambiguated title
Hi! Yesterday I edited the Bill Hill page to have the biography for an Alaskan educator/fisherman. Of course, this was a mistake on my part to put this under the ambiguous title "Bill Hill", this was my first edit. I resubmitted the content under Draft:Bill Hill (Alaskan), which hopefully is a better title for the page. I don't think I have the permissions to move this draft to the published namespace, but I was hoping you could? Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. NickCrewsAK (talk) 20:01, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
- @NickCrewsAK: Please read the comments I left there. More importantly, please read WP:PAID. You're violating this site's terms of use by not disclosing the reasons why you're contributing this content. The notion that the Hill campaign can buy exposure on Wikipedia disgusts me. I have no doubt that many others feel the same way. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 04:42, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Plugg music
Why did you revert the cut and paste move? You broke all the redirects. And most sources say "plugg" not "plugg music" per [[WP:COMMONNAME]] articles need to have the most common name used in sources. Also when you look at the page for moves it tells you to be bold and make the move yourself when its uncontroversial. Aradicus77 (talk) 19:32, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- Cutting and pasting is NOT the same as moving. If you think the article needs to be renamed, the process is at WP:RM. older ≠ wiser 19:40, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

- Anything in particular concern you? When reviewing changes to pages on my watchlist, I do not necessarily review anything beyond the specific edit. older ≠ wiser 17:43, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- I did a ctrl+f for "NES" on Nuno Espírito Santo and only found the string as a part of a word such as "Chinese" or a surname. Considering the entry I added was alphabetically adjacent to that one, I assumed consistency would be easy.
- Regardless, when reverting an addition for a particular reason, especially a relatively obscure reason, it's likely best to review the entire page for other entries which might not be in accordance with that reason. It's not difficult to go from your watchlist to the DAB page, really. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 17:49, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Also, for what it's worth, the abbreviation "NES" for Nathaniel Erskine-Smith is verifiable. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney" (hihi) 18:03, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Then add it to the article. And no, I am not going to review an entire page when all I'm looking at are the specific changes. If other crap has been on a page for some time that is not immediately obvious, it's not anything I'm going to get too worked up about. And BTW, obscure is relative. Speedy deletion nomination of Khirbet Mudayna (disambiguation)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Khirbet Mudayna (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is:
- a disambiguation page with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" which lists only one extant Wikipedia page (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- a disambiguation page that lists zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" whose target is neither a disambiguation page nor page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. enbi [they/them] • [talk] 19:37, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.

- Also there is a difference between a generic representation of a swordsman in black vs. an entity named or consistently referred to as the Black Swordsman. older ≠ wiser 20:46, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

whats it like editing for long time
March 2026
Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Rok, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Wikisam240 (talk) 17:25, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Wikisam240 Please note that new posts go at the bottom of a talk page, not the top: posts at the top are likely not to be seen, so I have moved this one.
- It is not helpful, and rather rude, to use this templated message on the talk page of a very experienced editor of disambiguation pages in our encyclopedia. Note also that they have never edited the page you mention, the redirect ROK (disambiguation).
- Your latest edits to Rok showed an unfamiliarity with our policies and guidelines: you piped entries on the dab page, and you added a second blue link to a page. I have reverted those changes, while leaving your change to the opening of the dab page. On that point, I think I agree with you rather than Bkonrad: where there is a primary topic for one or more of the terms being disambiguated on a dab page, it is probably helpful to include the bolded link in the opening line as you did.
- But please do not Edit War. If you disagree with another editor's edits, discuss it with them calmly on their talk page or the talk page of the article involved. PamD 16:58, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Castlevania's Saint Germain
I didn't realize we needed citations on a disambiguation page, but he's in one of the games (Curse of Darkness) and two seasons of the TV series (totaling 14 episodes). Should I have structured the entry differently? CaptHayfever (talk) 15:07, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- No, a citation is generally not required in disambiguation pages as they're not articles, says this page. I think what you should've done was instead of linking on simply Castlevania, which was too broad, linking to Castlevania: Curse of Darkness would've been a better idea. I think that simple link change might've kept that mention there. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 15:56, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- Citations have no place on a disambiguation page. What is needed is a link to an existing Wiki article that supports the claimed usage. Why did you remove my edit twice? There is clear evidence that the game exists. Whatever it's mentioned on the linked pages or not doesn't matter. It's a disambiguation page! ~2026-22534-68 (talk) 20:09, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
- No, that is exactly what is required for an item on a disambiguation page. See WP:DABNOMENTION. older ≠ wiser 21:12, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

Why did you retract my edit about the end of the world?
Surely you'd agree that people often mention this hypothetical place, like finding someone at the end of the world or taking someone there, right? So this concept deserves its own Wikipedia entry. IgnacyPL (talk) 19:48, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
Why did you removed my "(best metro)" on hong kong Metro in the metro topic is actually the best metro clean always esrly

Mill Creek, Virginia moved to Draft
I find it interesting how you moved the Mill Creek, Virginia article to a draft based on the GNIS being the sole source, yet an article called Pinero, Virginia (Pinero and countless other articles of unincorporated communities with just the GNIS as a reference alone have not been moved to drafts. Can you please explain why? SAYITWITHYOURCHEST (talk) 19:26, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
- Also, it has been established that Mill Creek is indeed an unincorporated community in Gloucester County, Virginia, which can be corroborated on a map, and it didn’t show up as being in a bay, like you mentioned, it showed up as being on land and there were numerous houses and buildings around the area labeled as Mill Creek. 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride
Hello! You seem to have reverted many of my edits regarding the capitalization of 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, insisting no letters are uppercase. However, this contradicts your argument and accordingly states the correct spelling is the one I chose. Your edits will now be reverted to follow the style guidelines for chemical substances. ~2026-33494-90 (talk) 17:59, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

Sitta
Greetings,
I noticed you did a cut-and-paste move of Sitta to Sitta (disambiguation), I object to this as, due to the vernacular spelling of Flagpole Sitta people might just search for it by searching 'sitta' similar to how people might search for Hot In Herre by just searching 'herre' (so Hot in Herre is listed at Herre). Also, Flagpole Sitta usually gets more views than the Nuthatch page anyway, and the most views that the Sitta page has got was when it was converted to a disambig, meaning it is most useful as a disambig 1. In solidarity, PokemonPerson (talk) 16:29, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- I think you may be mistaken. I reverted your earlier copy and paste move of those pages. I think any change in this primary topic redirect should be discussed as the vast majority of the many incoming links to the page are for the bird. People searching for other uses can find the disambiguation via the hatnote. Sitta has been a redirect to the bird group since 2012. older ≠ wiser 17:35, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- I created the Sitta page before Sitta (disambiguation) was created. However your argument is valid, and as such I'll start a RM on the talk page. In solidarity, PokemonPerson (talk) 16:15, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
Explanation?
At America (disambiguation) you reverted my edit with no explanation. Would you mind giving a reason here? Deor (talk) 13:38, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- It was not just a revert. I corrected the year in the red link and added a blue link to the director's page which does mention the film. older ≠ wiser 13:43, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Ok. What threw me is that (1) I didn't notice the date correction and (2)the Robert Downey Sr. article didn't turn up in the "What links here" page for America (1986 film), since the film isn't linked in that article. It helps to give even a brief explanation, such as "Corrected date", in the edit summary. Deor (talk) 13:57, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Ronisia (wasp)
@Bkonrad:
You reversed my efforts without even an attempt at dialog. This needs to be disambiguated with a singer of same name. Why not use the talk feature if you were concerned the alternative page does not exist? That took me time to make the initial disambiguation, and then I was updating multiple things externally on wikidata and other animal websites linking to this disambiguation. The answer to the concern of lack of page for the singer was simply to create one, a well made page (that can act as a template) already exists for the singer in several other languages (frwiki etc).
I need the disambiguation to have functional wikilinks on several other websites such as https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/466258-Ronisia that are getting conflict by the singer name - and i need to work in multiple languages, each pulling from wikipedia in different languages.
Here's a suggestion. You remake the disambiguation page [with move again to Ronisia (wasp)] as i had before, and i'll do what you thought was lacking make a quick page for the singer - so the disambiguation page then has two functional links in it as you wanted? Deal? Sjl197 (talk) 11:44, 25 June 2026 (UTC) Sjl197 (talk) 11:43, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- There is no existing article for the singer. I was not able to find any article with a good description of the singer that could be linked to. Without any other article, there is nothing to disambiguate. Disambiguation pages are navigational aids to help readers find articles about topics in Wikipedia--they are not an index of persons or things that exist or have existed. I don't see how anything in some other website like iNaturalist has any relevance here. You can link to the article whatever its name is (or use the redirect). If you do create an article for the singer, we also need to consider whether the wasp is the primary topic. I know nothing at all about the singer, and if they are a minor celebrity, it might be just as well to use a hatnote to the singer from the wasp article. older ≠ wiser 12:29, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

- @Bkonrad:
- Further to this, i presumed you could see the preliminary content for the singer on my own user-page, but i will soon delete that as i now updated a live version under title Ronisia (singer). I'm sure with your extensive wiki experience then you'll have some insights in how to improve that new entry. I also knew nothing on the singer before what i now learnt and cross-referenced. As i now listen to her music and see extent of output, i think well worth this singer having a enwiki page. Regarding your new concerns about whether one "Ronisia" content should link back from another via hatnote (i.e. one with primacy for title), then as per the format i'd previously setup - i strongly prefer the two articles get fully differentiated titles [i.e. Ronisia (singer) versus Ronisia (wasp)]. I would suggest there's no need to even debate on whether the "wasp" or the "singer" should get primacy, the answer is to make the basic title page into a disambiguation page. My strong preference however to have the wasp moved to Ronisia (wasp) is absolutely driven by how (several) external natural history sites pull data from enwikipedia [i just showed example iNaturalist that fully reflects content]. Having the insect with such a modified page-name will really help prevent other sites from pulling in the wrong information. These usually link through wikidata Q4048418 [contra singer Q110409384] which is a resource i edit on far more extensively than enwiki - where i find many users act impulsively. I appreciate your long and valued experience here on enwiki and i appreciate your reply above, and i'd like you to appreciate how i'm concerned with how simple modification of enwiki would be super useful for correct and interactions with wikidata etc and other websites beyond.
- Sjl197 (talk) 13:51, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- How external sites reference wiki articles really should have no bearing on Wikipedia naming conventions. In any case, the link at iNaturalist appears to work perfectly regardless of how the article is titled since Ronisia (wasp) is a redirect. However, after looking into it a bit, at this point there seems no reason to presume either is the primary topic and it makes sense to have a disambiguation page now that there is an article for the singer. older ≠ wiser 14:58, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Bkonrad:
- Thank-you. With your modifications now, i'm glad we can close with this from practical side now. I'm glad you can accept that now with two articles these can balance with a shared disambiguation. I just again highlight that at outset the core of your concern was about only one active article on the disambiguation page. I just wish you'd highlighted that to me as a direct concern at outset, as with creation of the second page we'd never have needed any of this back and forth. Else, for setup, on other past cases, i've worked external backlinks into existing "hatnote" setup you mention, but it just makes interlinking other external stuff i've been working on more convoluted if done that way. While i accept external sites should have no bearing to drive Wikipedia conventions, the external stuff leads me to a preference between different implementation at this end - between variant schemes that each achieve the same purpose. Further, i note that even "internally" the wikis of other languages each have different naming conventions, i.e. "Ronisia (Gattung)", "Ronisia (wasp)", "Ronisia (género)" and differ in preferences for how to setup disambiguations - it's an absolute pain to get external stuff pulling from all those different setups consistently! The iNaturalist setup now works as i spent many hours revising setup just for this one group of wasps out of hundred of thousands of them.
