Hello CaroleHenson! I created an article in Greek and submitted it under my username in en.wikipedia, and it was rejected, with the suggestion it go over to the Greek Wikipedia. I then submitted the article to Greek Wikipedia (el.wikipedia.org,) and it was rejected without enough explanation for me to take remedial action. If what I am trying to achieve is to post a Greek language version of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beata_Maria_Kitsikis_Panagopoulos is there a different procedure I should take rather than trying to submit a free-standing Greek article? Sadly, my conversational Greek is severely limited. But, the two cited reasons in the rejection were 1) what appears to be a policy violation: "Entries should not be advertising or promotion of yourself, your friends, or your company."

And, 2) an additional notation is: "You are recreating a previously deleted page." [I read one comment that an attempt at submitting this, or a similar, biographical Greek-language entry had been rejected in June 2021.] 210-Minnesota (talk) 00:45, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

210-Minnesotaz In no particular order: Recreating a deleted page, from my perspective, isn't a reason to not create an article. But it would be good to edit for notable, relevant, objective content. There is a fair amount of unnecessary promotion / WP:PEACOCK language. I think thinning the article down to the most meaningful content would be helpful. For instance: During her watch, the Gennadius Library opened for additional hours and two evenings a week leading to a substantial increase in the number of people using the library. The physical structure of the library was remodeled. A new exhibition room and a section for archival research were added to the building. is not necessary.

It would be good to add information about her awards and anything else that adds to notability to the intro.

I am not sure that I can add anything about creating a Greek article out of this one. But if this article gets tidied up a bit, focusing on her noteworthy achievements, it will be easier. I'll do a bit of editing. It would be good to reorganize some of the headings, for instance, to make it easier to decipher the content in the sections.

The way that the article is written, it sounds like some of the content comes from a WP:Connected contributor, which brings up some additional issues. The linked article will explain the issues.–CaroleHenson (talk) 01:15, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Official606k, The archive url and date are only added if the link is dead (even though it may have been archived over time).

I am have researched Alonzo Barnard for years and years and here I find that you know incredible am't of stuff about him. Would appreciate corresponding. As I write, I am heading to visit Benzonia, Michigan to sniff about. I am focused on Fredric & Elisabeth Ayer who recruited Barnard to Minnesota missions and who lived at Belle Prairie where he apparently lived after leaving Pembina-St.Joseph, for a time and where he had a dauguerrean studio at Little Falls. The history of the "Oberlin Band" of missionaries and their collaboration with the Ayers is a remarkable one, given the sectarian nature of many of the mission projects. It could also be an aunt. What I am getting is a woman who wore her hair in lovely styles and statement jewelry pieces, like cuff bracelets. Classic, elegant - but not at all fussy - clothing. She didn't have to do a lot (hairdos, jewelry), though, to stand out. Hi Gerda Arendt. I have been trying to sort it out. The woman appeared before me with as much detail as if I opened my front door to her in real life. Very sophisticated, lovely in spirit, and poised. I don't have relatives quite like her either.

It very rarely happens, but I have had some people who have passed that are in the news, movies, etc. come through to me as I am hearing about them. I had just seen Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I - then read about Adele in Wikipedia, the subject of the painting and movie Woman in Gold (film), just before I messaged with you. I was really emotionally moved (and open spiritually), so the only thing that makes sense to me is that she was Adele from the painting or her family member. I'll try to get a reading from her and see if she comes through. And, if so, why. It's an interesting mystery.

We can agree that the article Nikki Hornsby is terrible. However, two things. First, it's a bad idea for anyone who's expressed an opinion on an article (or a part/aspect thereof) to remove others' comments from the article's talk page. I strongly suggest that you should only do this when the material is gratuitously and obviously offensive (crude comments on the subject's imagined sex life or lack thereof, and similar silliness) or appears to be libelous. Even if you haven't expressed an opinion, leave mere indignation: even if I hadn't expressed an opinion, I would not have removed what you removed. Secondly, proposed deletions (prods) are for uncontroversial cases, unsourced articles. The sourcing for this article is grossly inadequate, but some sources are provided: the article is not unsourced. And it's pretty obvious that the faction that, over the years, has been adding promotional blather would strongly object to the article's deletion; thus deletion would certainly not be uncontroversial. (Indeed, the subject may well satisfy WP:PERSON, for all I know. I'm not really competent to judge. I'd ask for Chubbles' opinion.) -- Hoary (talk) 01:23, 29 June 2023 (UTC)

First: I get your point about removing talk page content. It's highly rare, I get that. I don't regret it in this case, but I definitely hear you about doing that in the middle of request for input / resolution of an issue. If you want me to set things back in the Grammy section of the talk page, I will do it... with a note and link about talk page guidelines.

Second: I am not sure about meeting Notability guidelines for musicians or people... there's not clear notability that I have seen yet, but it's possible. Gotcha re: prod. I can update the BLP post, changing the prod info to Afd with the link to guidelines for that.

Hoary, We don't need to worry about that at the moment, and I realize it would have to be approved. I am gathering by your response is that it likely would not be approved, so it wouldn't make a difference what I thought. I agree that talk page history should be preserved as maximally as possible, even if benignly off-topic; I think even our guidelines probably go too far in what can be removed. I recommend that prior discussion be retained. I really enjoyed looking back over your wonderful contributions on art, the Colorado Springs area and all your well developed biographies of both men and women. Many of your articles which had been successfully classed earlier had suffered from those who had added WP United States (without a class rating) and your own use of WP Virtual art (which has none). Virtually all your detailed articles on Van Gogh therefore became "unknown". I look at the people who recently died, and those I care about (music, German, whatever) I try to improve to a state that they can appear in the section for Recent deaths on the Main page, which means everything has to be referenced, and a biography has to have some substance. Then it takes (normally) three supporters. Most names there I never heard before, such as the two now on the Main page. I have been crying through this. It makes me think of the Christmas truce during World War I with the dead in "no mans land" and the soldiers cold and wet in the trenches before they call the truce. Angelique is daughter of Thomas and Cecile. Cecile and Jacques Louzon had a large family so John R, Catherine and Angelique had many half siblings. Cecile’s maiden name was Cecile Campau. Curiouserandcurioser From the sources I have found, Thomas Williams and Cecile Campau (also Campeau) had three children, Catherine, Elizabeth, and John R. And, they are almost always spoken of the same way,

She lived a single, chaste lifestyle, like a nun.[19][b] In 1809, Catherine married Jean Baptiste Peltier with whom she had two children.[4] John R. was the first mayor of Detroit, and served several of times more. He married his cousin, Mary Mott Williams, in 1804. They had ten children.[4]

Yes, I have that Cecile was a Campau, which is mentioned in the article. I also added a link to an article that I started, Campau family. Sometimes the surname is spelled Campeau. Was there a particular reason that you said Cecile’s maiden name was Cecile Campau.?

Regarding Angelique, is there, by any chance, confusion with Angelique Campau, who like Elizabeth taught at the Catholic school with Gabriel Richard - from here?

Angelique Campau (not Williams or Loson) married someone with a similar name to Catherine's husband - Angelique's husband was Jean B. Piquette here. That could have caused some confusion if someone mixed up Angelique Campau with Catherine Williams.

I am having a hard time finding Angelique, including in the French Catholic Church records from Detroit. And had to remove the citation that I had for her, because she wasn't there. It would be great to know what sources you have for Angelique.

Cecile had a second marriage to Jacques Lozon. They had a lot of children. So John R had many half siblings, which seem to be more or less ignored in the Williams family history thereafter. Could one of them be Angelique? The half siblings of John R aren’t related to Thomas, but still there are some amusing elements to this part of the story. One of John R’s descendants was a younger Thomas Williams who was a military man and at one time the commandant on MacInaw (?) island. The Louzons had family connections with some of the Indians in the area. Also, the St. Clair farm was the only piece of land that was saved from original Thomas’ estate. Jacques Campau, I believe, at one time tried to claim it. I found an old lawsuit by John R and the half siblings relating to this. This is all old research of mine. First I’ll send the genealogical info I have which I will have to extract from ancestry.com. Catherine’s descendants did a great genealogical study which at one point was public and outside of ancestry.com. I think maybe I confused Angelique and Catherine when I wrote to you. More to come. PS As far as Cecile’s name I have always seen it spelled Campau. Interestingly they seem to have been a French speaking family. I have an old letter written by her to John R and it is in French. Curiouserandcurioser Interesting info about the Williams - Campau - Losan families. I couldn't find anything in ancestry.com - but if you pass me a link, I can look it up there. Or, tell me what to search for... I have tried Angelique - born 10 years more or less from 1684 when Williams died. And, Angelique with Williams and Campau. If you could point me to a specific record, that would help a lot.

I have also searched through Early history of Detroit books and books about the Campau family.

I wanted to attach a pdf of my ancestry page on Cecile but cannot figure out how to do it. I did find some original documents that are in ancestry. I took a look at some of the source documents such as her marriage to Jacques Lozon. That document is in French and calls her Campeau, but her brother Campau. I can give you viewing rights to my family tree if you want. I’ve never been on wiki before so it is a bit difficult for me to navigate. The Louzon’s had one daughter Marie Angelique but she only lived a year. And Thomas Williams seemed to have only John R, Catherine and Elisabeth as you thought. Curiouserandcurioser, What you found about Marie Angelique Louzon makes a lot of sense. There were a series of epidemics in Detroit and its surrounding area that kept the priests busy to manage the ill and dying.

While I did make an error with the sentence for identity theft, I stand by the rest of the edit and I have re-added the same information with the correction and minor reorganization for clarity and reflect separation of the theft matter. Regarding your comment, Additional info without a source. you may note in my new edit summary that I referenced parts of the article to support the edit but did not place particular references in the infobox since references are not usually added in keeping with MOS:INFOBOXREF.

As to your question, why a range of years, sentences are often in a range allowing possible parole of the offender after serving the first part of the range. For instance, a sentence of one to 15 years means the offender must serve one year but could ask for parole after that; however, if the parole board never grants parole, the offender must be released in 15 years (or less if the jurisdiction allows time off for good behavior, etc.).

It's extremely rare that I get talked to in this way. I think we both have the best of intentions, so perhaps we can continue this conversation from that perspective.

I was really confused by the range of years. I am used to "sentenced to xx years, with the possibility of parole after xx years". The range of years confused me - not a hard thing to do these days - and that's were I think things got muddled.

I now understand what you are doing - and see that the information was cited in the document - so it looks good to me after clarification.
