LLM cleanup at Human brain development timeline

Hey there. I am helping cleanup after a user who was using LLMs to mass-rewrite article leads without any review. This was discussed at ANI and WP:AICLEAN . One of the articles they edited was Human brain development timeline, which prior to their edit had no lead whatsoever. I saw that you edited the lead afterwards but this editor was not reviewing their leads at all, demonstrated no subject matter expertise in this subject, and I am pretty sure the LLM introduced unsourced content. So I just blanked the entire lead.

Giving you a heads up as a courtesy here. Of course, if you have the expertise to write a lead for this article that would be great :) NicheSports (talk) 15:51, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

Sorry about that. To be fair, it was still being heavily edited a few hours ago. Chess enjoyer (talk) 19:22, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of World Heritage Sites in the Soviet Union

Hello, Chess enjoyer,

Please revert your closure of this AFD. This was a very bad choice for a non-admin closure especially for an editor with your limited editing experience. If you haven't already, read Wikipedia:Non-admin closure and follow the guidelines closely. If you have questions, please bring them to the Teahouse. Liz Read! Talk! 23:05, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

Done. Could you please explain what was wrong with my closure? I did read NAC, and I thought I knew what I was doing when I made the close (in hindsight, perhaps I fell into pit #1). Do you think my reading of the consensus was wrong, or just that it should've been someone more experienced? Chess enjoyer (talk) 23:55, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. Hipal (talk) 20:14, 30 October 2025 (UTC)

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Non admin comment

Hi Chess enjoyer. Is there a reason you put Template:Non-admin comment on your comments at ANI? 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 02:24, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

@45dogs, I use that template when I think it's important to mention that I'm not an admin. I'm a little confused by your question. Chess enjoyer (talk) 02:51, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
Sorry, I am just not particularly used to seeing that template be used at ANI. Apologies for the confusion. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 03:06, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
No need to apologize, it's all good. Chess enjoyer (talk) 03:36, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

WP:ARCA

When you make that request for clarification, please add me as a participant. TarnishedPathtalk 05:07, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Will do. This is my first time doing anything like this, so I'm not sure who to add. Should @Springee be added as well? Chess enjoyer (talk) 05:11, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
Yah Springee also. 45dogs has also commented in the discussion, but not sure whether you need to add them as a participant. You probably also need to link to the discussions at WP:AN and Springee's talk also. TarnishedPathtalk 05:14, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
Chess, I'm not sure how I'm 7 words over the limit. You said I was 54 over. Per this edit I removed 54 . I wasn't aiming for exactly 54 but it worked it that way. I'm not sure how the counter shows me still over. If you agree with my count would you remove the overage claim? I can probably trim a few more words. I think the answer to the original question is clear but now I worked like a discussion regarding the lack of any way to ask for an extension. Even if the answer would be no in this case it seems like a bad idea to make it no in all cases. Springee (talk) 06:00, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
On review, using two word counters, one says 507 and another says 505. I guess there's some ambiguity over what counts as a word (I'm including every time you said someone else's name), so I'll update my statement to reflect that. By the way, "Chess" is someone else's username, so maybe don't call me that. Chess enjoyer (talk) 06:14, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Sorry about the name thing. I wonder if the counter saw things like two words with/slash as one. The overall count may be over, I was just going on the 54 words I removed (per my count) after you said I was 54 over (after letting out a long sigh :( ). Springee (talk) 06:22, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Oh, you're actually the third editor to call me that, so I'm kind of used to it. On the word count, you're not even ten words over now, so it's not a big deal. Chess enjoyer (talk) 06:29, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Funny.

I loved that submission for CSD of that excellent example for LLM content, EzyRecon. Just want to say that that was hilarious! Just wanted you to know that I literally started crying when I saw it! r f q i i talk! 07:23, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks. When I patrol new user pages, I often find pages that were probably made by an LLM, but it's not blatant enough for G15 and they're usually G11able anyway. This is a rare case of the reverse being true. Chess enjoyer (talk) 07:37, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

A suggestion

Occasionally I see a newer user clerking around noticeboards. It's generally a bad idea to hang around ANI (for example), even if your intentions are 100% pure. What tends to happen is that bad actors are brought to a noticeboard, so the page gets on their watchlist. Sometimes the bad actor decides they should involve themself in other board discussions. While I don't see anything in particular wrong with your work there, I thought I'd drop the friendly suggestion. So long as you don't plan on running for admin, you're just fine. Do what you want. If you have any ambitions to the mop, only show up at ANI when absolutely necessary. Love your work, btw. Thanks for everything you do. BusterD (talk) 10:47, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

If I'm reading you correctly, @BusterD, you're saying that:
  1. Closing discussions at ANI could draw the attention of bad actors? (If so, noted.)
  2. I'm not doing anything wrong? (If so, thanks. No one's said anything so far, so that's good to know.)
  3. Closing discussions could harm my (potential) future request for adminship? (If so, I'm currently neutral about it, but I would like clarification as to how exactly.)
On the last last part of your message, you're welcome. I'm just trying to do the right thing (which makes #3 a little confusing to me). Chess enjoyer (talk) 11:38, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
You are doing right things. You are doing nothing wrong. But various choices sometimes bring various consequences. If I didn't see things to admire about your works, I'd have simply said nothing. My comment is intended to make you aware of the sometimes unexpected consequences of clerking at ANI, assuming users would consider it helpful. BusterD (talk) 13:51, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the link, that was an eye-opening read. It's clear that the general community opinion of my actions at ANI is... mixed at best. Like I said, I don't know if I want to be an admin in the future, but I would like to keep the door open. If I ever make a bid for the mop, I wouldn't cite my closures as a particularly good reason to give me one (and I would never call myself an ANI clerk of all things!). My only intention is (was? This conversation is giving me second thoughts) to save admins some time by closing the more obvious cases. It's a minor thing, really, so I don't have any issues with stopping. South Asian controverian articles?

@Chess enjoyer: Would you please consider whether the articles Harappan language and Indus script should be semipritected per WP:CT/SA? (I give a short motivation for my question at Talk:Harappan language#This subject is controversial and should be edited and sourced with great care. However, on the other hand, happy to say, I'm not aware of any particular case of abusal POW-editing of either article now; it's more a general worry.) Regards, JoergenB (talk) 22:23, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi @JoergenB. I'm not sure why you're asking me this, as I'm not an administrator, but I'm inclined to say that protection of these pages is probably unnecessary if there hasn't been any disruption. Certainly they fall under the South Asia contentious topic, but pages are not usually protected as a preemptive measure. There are exceptions to this, however. The ones that are relevant here are if they fall under the subtopics of Indian military history or social groups, which are under the extended confirmed restriction. I don't think these articles fall under those subtopics, but maybe I'm wrong. If you're worried about disruptive editing, you can make a request for page protection, or just keep them on your watchlist. Chess enjoyer (talk) 01:42, 14 January 2026 (UTC)

Death date on entry

Hello, I hope this is the appropriate way to contact you. I received your message regarding a recent edit on Helen Leach's Wikipedia entry. Her death will be published in the local paper on Tuesday 27th January and I was expecting to be asked to provide details when making the amendment but did not see anything. Perhaps you could suggest me as to why that might be and presumably I will have to wait till the death notice has been published before trying again. Regards Janey Thomas (daughter). JETNZ (talk) 02:09, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

Hello. Yes, this the appropriate way to contact me. If no reliable sources have reported on her death yer, then unfortunately we can't say so on our article. If you're right about it being published in a newspaper, that should be an appropriate source to cite for this. I'm sorry that we can't update the article immediately. When that paper gets published (or if another source reports it sooner), feel free to update the article. You may also leave another message on my talk page or on the Biographies of living persons noticeboard if you need any help. Chess enjoyer (talk) 02:34, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Hi again, the death notice has been printed in the local paper but not yet picked up online. Would a jpg of the notice suffice or should we wait till it's online. Thank you. JETNZ (talk) 21:24, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
@JETNZ, can you provide details on the newspaper, such as its name, title, and date? Sources do not have to be online in order for them to be cited. Once it's published online, then a url can be added to the reference. A photo of the picture could be useful until then, but it can't be uploaded here, as we only allow free content with limited exceptions. If you could upload an image somewhere else, that would be helpful, but you don't have to. Chess enjoyer (talk) 21:35, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Other editors have handled it now. Again, I'm sorry that couldn't have happened sooner. Chess enjoyer (talk) 22:55, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you I see the entry has been updated, the family will be glad that's done. Thanks to the editors for updating so promptly. JETNZ (talk) 05:27, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Notice of a board under user [chess enjoyer] regarding edits

On the mha page for izuku midoriya, people keep listing him as having a significant other. As of 2026, he does not have a significant other of any gender. This is not a shipping wiki. Please see to it the page is CORRECTLY maintained or others will keep doing it for you. ~2026-73876-9 (talk) 03:49, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi. I made that revert because it was not accurate to the cited source. However, it doesn't look like the source is considered reliable. Given that, I don't have any problems with the Midoriya not having a partner listed in the infobox. If other editors try to add one, you or anyone else can revert the edit or discuss it on the talk page of the article. Keep in mind that we go by what reliable sources say, not our personal opinions. If a reliable source said that so-and-so is Midoriya's partner, we would have probably have to include it in the article. I was just passing by, and Midoriya's romantic status isn't something I have a strong opinion on, so I'm not particularly interested in maintaining the article. Chess enjoyer (talk) 04:10, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
Alright. Thank you for clarifying. The page seems to have become a sort of "mini war" which is embarrassing as there are other fandom wikis specifically FOR shipping. I have no idea why people do this kind of thing on wikipedia of all places. Me and others will handle it i suppose. ~2026-73876-9 (talk) 04:16, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

Moving the article Onek Dame Kena to draftspace

Hello Chess enjoyer, Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This refer to the article Onek Dame Kena, which you moved to draftspace as Draft:Onek Dame Kena. Draftification was not appropriate per WP:DRAFTIFY, since this article was last edited less than 60 minutes before you moved it to draft (). Please consider using the MoveToDraft script, which guide editors through the draftification process and provides a warning when moving an article to draft space is inappropriate. Regards. QEnigma 论 08:16, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

You're right. It was close, but it hadn't been long enough to draftify the article (I'm not counting the edits by myself and the one that requested speedy deletion, since those aren't improvements to the article), and I'll check the edit history more carefully next time. However, given that it was close to an hour and that page definitely isn't ready for mainspace, I don't think it should be moved back just because of this (of course, any editor can move it back if do think it's ready). MoveToDraft is what I used to draftify the article, and a look a this diff should confirm that. I moved it despite the warning it gave me because I assumed that it was only giving it because of the CSD tagging. Chess enjoyer (talk) 08:41, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi. Just an FYI; the link I posted was taken directly from a Wikipedia article created by that user, I assumed that since they posted it to WP, it was fair game to repost it. The original link posted by the editor is visible several times in the edit history (for example here), and in others; I don't know if you can remove it from there as well. They added it themselves and they don't say that that's their website, so there's no need to suppress it as far as I know. Since they haven't said on-wiki that this is their website, I don't think it was appropriate for you to add it like you did. I didn't know that when I requested oversight, though. You're welcome. Even when you don't know what an editor's preferred pronouns are, it's better to just use they/them to be on the safe side. Chess enjoyer (talk) 03:20, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

Talk:Lee Drinkard Warwick

This is probably the most trivial edit I've seen in 10+ years on Wikipedia. I'm not trying to get this page promoted to a featured article, I'm trying to get it deleted, and I'm pretty sure the admin who will do this would have figured it out. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:10, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Um, hi. Yeah, it probably would have gotten deleted either way, but the page isn't patent nonsense. The long string of text is (I think) an attempt to add an image, and the rest is just the start of an article. You're right, it was trivial, but is there any harm in making sure a page is tagged with the right CSD? Chess enjoyer (talk) 19:20, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted back for editing a user's main user page instead of their talk page. This was fun to watch unfold, hahaha. Thanks for the trout, it was my first! FaviFake (talk) 17:39, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

File:Meningioma Removal 1.png

Hi Chess enjoyer! Long time no chat! I was pinged by your edit summary a few moments ago about this image and exporting it over to the Wikimedia Commons (here). If you believe that moving it to be hosted there would be more beneficial than keeping it hosted here locally, then hell yeah - go for it! ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:42, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

Hi! I also just exported File:Meningioma Removal 2.png while I was at it. This'll let other language wikis (or anyone at all) use the photos, so I thought exporting them could only be a good thing. I was just surprised that it took this long for someone to think if it; File:Brain Tumor MRI.jpg was exported almost a year ago! (Also, most of that happened either before I was active or while I was still a newbie, but I'm glad everything turned out okay. You happen to be one of the nicest editors I know, and this place is definitely better with you than without :)) Chess enjoyer (talk) 23:06, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

Sincere apology

I am SO SORRY for everything that happened on Earth. I want to be better than this. Please forgive me. 😔 Epicazowski (talk) 12:00, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Relax, Epicazowski. The other editor was arguably being more disruptive, given that consensus on the talk page is against keeping the blue marble as the lead image, so I don't blame you as much as the other editor. That said, you need to start using the talk page when you're reverted instead of just reverting back, and you should explain any revert that isn't obvious vandalism with an edit summary. That said, they didn't use edit summaries either, so everything I said applies to them, too. Chess enjoyer (talk) 16:57, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
Ok. Epicazowski (talk) 17:25, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Reminder: WP:FAITH

Hi, I'm The username filter bot is way too sensitive. I noticed that you provided a warning to a user after reverting vandalism(thanks!) but jumped immediately to their final warning. As per WP:FAITH, users are generally supposed to assume that others are acting with good intentions. Next time, it might be better to start with the first warning({{subst:Uw-vandalism1}}. Thank you! The username filter bot is way too sensitive (talk) 16:14, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

I can see why you think I was harsh (and maybe I should have used the second-level warning instead), but how could changing the short description of a living person to "twat" possibly be in good faith? Chess enjoyer (talk) 16:17, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
Also, @The username filter bot is way too sensitive, I see that you've been reverting vandalism, too (thank you!). You should consider enabling twinkle. It makes reverting and leaving user warnings a lot easier. Chess enjoyer (talk) 16:22, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) Second-level would've been fine, probably (maybe can change now...?). The edit could've been a joke or nonserious, so first-level is fine, unless it's repeated behavior. That's the point of warnings, but you know that. I'd just say that final was WP:BITEy. 🫀 Crash // Organhaver ( it / he | talk to me, maybe? ) 16:47, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
You're right. I went overboard because it was a biography of a living person, and we're supposed be more cautious around those. I tend to go straight to level two if there's no chance the edit was in good faith and it contained slurs or something, but using an only warning there was excessive. Chess enjoyer (talk) 16:57, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
Yeah, it probably was clearly not good faith. I definitely agree with level two-ish for this warning. Also, thanks for the recommendation of Twinkle. I'll see if I can install it soon. The username filter bot is way too sensitive (talk) 17:34, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

Your response about word count

I will gladly stop replying, but just noting that (I think) I am at just about 1000 words, or a little over, within that discussion. I'm assuming the extra 800 also encompasses the many other discussions on that page. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 18:40, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

See my recent revert. I may have gotten confused. Chess enjoyer (talk) 18:41, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
I was wrong. You've still got ~60 words, not counting the quotes and the text you struck. Sorry about that. Chess enjoyer (talk) 18:50, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

Thanks, Chess enjoyer!

Just wanted to say thank you for fixing my spelling mistakes on the userbox categories. Yikes. I don't even think "humourous" is the correct spelling in any dialect?? Yeah, uh, the redirect HumourousHumourous is an {{R from misspelling}}. Another yikes.

You're welcome. I thought it was a British-English spelling. I looked it up on Wiktionary, and it turns out we're both right; it's a misspelling that only occurs over there. Chess enjoyer (talk) 20:28, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Unless they have reverted it, which they haven't, there is no reason to remove the CSD. – LuniZunie(talk) 19:05, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

The CSD actually also helps bring admin attention, the only reason to wait until the block is if you know they are going to edit war. – LuniZunie(talk) 19:07, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
@LuniZunie, I just thought it was too soon. You and I both knew we were looking at a duck quacking into a megaphone, but that G5 couldn't be actioned until they were actually blocked as one. I hadn't thought about it bringing admin attention, though. Chess enjoyer (talk) 19:40, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
It can actually be actioned before they are blocked, the being blocked is based on the master account; which is blocked. – LuniZunie(talk) 19:42, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Kim Ju Ae

back a couple hours ago i did a edit on your wikipedia about Kim Ju Ae and i was adding one of Kim Ju Ae’s latest appearances not putting in deceased people in it or anything just writing about that in march this year she was for sure driving a tank with kim jong un and top officials on top of it and just check the internet and news articles you may find this sorce of information Isaiahs role plays (talk) 06:08, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi. Was this edit you logged out? I was able to find a source that covered most of the content and cite it in the article, but you should really be citing sources yourself instead of expecting others to do it for you. Otherwise, editors are likely to remove it as unsourced, like I did initially. Chess enjoyer (talk) 06:41, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Chess enjoyer. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
  • Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!

I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate use of rollback. If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin) and Wikipedia:Rollback. Good luck and thanks! ASUKITE 16:05, 6 June 2026 (UTC)

Game Show Congress

Does it seem a little WP:POINTy to you that Katzrockso deliberately reinstated unsourced information to justify their "keep" !vote in the RFD? Ten Pound Hammer (they/them) • (What did I screw up now?) 18:25, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

Well, that guideline is about making edits you don't actually agree with to make a point, and I assume that Katzrockso genuinely thinks the information should be there. I don't think WP:POINT applies. That being said:
  1. @Katzrockso, I would prefer that you add sources when you reinstate challenged material, not later, per WP:BURDEN.
  2. @TenPoundHammer, I don't think this was a valid use of Rollback. It wasn't obvious vandalism, and none of the other uses of Rollback seem to apply. Per point one, I think the edit was otherwise okay, it just needed an edit summary.
Chess enjoyer (talk) 18:52, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
I was at work at the time, which is why I was unable to go search through the references I had previously uncovered when researching for the AfD nomination. No WP:BURDEN challenge was stated, the material was initially removed for mentioning a "non notable org", which is an invalid reason for removal. WP:ARTN and WP:NNC make it clear that non-notable topics can certainly (and very often are) included within other articles, but they just don't warrant a standalone article. Katzrockso (talk) 20:27, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
Notability aside, I don't think any content that has a {{cn}} tag should be restored without a reference to a reliable source, regardless of whether the edit summary had an explicit burden challenge. However, I knew all of that would become moot once you added those sources, and that's why I didn't revert you myself. Chess enjoyer (talk) 20:51, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
@Katzrockso: my apologies for assuming bad faith. I still think the history of the article (again: A7'd, restored, AFD'd, deleted, upheld at DRV, then re-created by me anyway to mitigate off-site harassment) is enough that the redirect should not stand, per both WP:UNDUE (other game show personnel were also at Game Show Congress; why this one in particular?) and WP:NOPAGE (given the contentious history of the page). Ten Pound Hammer (they/them) • (What did I screw up now?) 13:05, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
WP:REDIRECTPURPOSE states Subtopics or other topics that are described or listed within a wider article. (Such redirects are often targeted to a particular section of the article.). A7, AfD deletion and a DRV are not under the list of reasons to delete a redirect.
But this is not RfD, so I'm not sure why we are discussing the merits of the redirect. Katzrockso (talk) 23:37, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
