DYK for Amors Baller
| On July 25, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Amors Baller, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Please read my latest replies there. I think they are greatly explaining what I meant and what I was doing. Because you have the administrator flag, I know you can actually block me if you want to. /HeyMid (contributions) 15:28, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!!
Thanks for the rv. It's rather unsettling. I haven't been fighting vandalism for quite a while. I think it's an inside job. ha ha. I must have rubbed somebody the wrong way. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:37, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Per this move, you userfied a page that had previously been deleted, supposedly to allow the user to improve the page. A new user has recreated the page. I have proposed the page for deletion -- what are your thoughts on the situation? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:10, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notification. I deleted the page under criterion G5, creation by a blocked/banned user. I think PapaDrom is unrelated to the sockpuppets (otherwise I would not have granted the userfication request). I have also create-protected the page for the time being. Thanks again for the note. Cordoba House
Tx for taking a look at it, and deleting the stub rating. Feel free to rate it -- I haven't seen a project yet that exercises ownership over articles within it, when it comes to rating them. Projects need all the help they can get! I've worked on it too much, so can't rate it myself. Tx.--Epeefleche (talk) 06:19, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Certain projects impose certain specific requirements for C-class, B-class, etc., and I recall being admonished for an incorrect assessment in the past. That's why I usually don't rate for projects which I am not a member of, but I suppose I could make an exception in this case. I have followed this article since its humble beginnings, and I have to say that you (and others) have done an amazing job with it. Regards,
decltype(talk) 06:33, 3 August 2010 (UTC)- Hang around these parts, and you are sure to be admonished by someone who enjoys admonishing ... no matter what you do. That's why some of our colleagues turn on their computer. I am aware that some projects have specific guidelines, that appear in the template, that push one to rate the article in various categories before giving the composite rating. But I'll keep an eye on your talk page for a day or two, so that if someone chastises you for this I can TROUT them. Tx for your kind words. I saw the NYT article, and thought this would be a good wiki article, as it must have a number of views on both sides. I was disappointed in what we had, so I've been putting some time into it the last three days. Tx again. It sounds as though the Landmark Commission meeting in seven hours will be anti-climactic, as the dye is cast (according to the Daily News).--Epeefleche (talk) 06:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I had a brief look at the WPNYC assessment page, and the only project-specific requirement I could find, was that a B-class article should have at least one reference, so I'm sure it'll be okay :). Have you checked whether your expansion exceeded 5x, by the way? (I'd do it myself, but I don't have the script installed currently)
decltype(talk) 06:54, 3 August 2010 (UTC)- I was just thinking about that myself. I imagine it is rather close, and should likely reach that level after tomorrow's meeting. What hook(s) did you have in mind?--Epeefleche (talk) 07:51, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- I did not have a particular hook in mind, I just thought that the article would be a nice addition to DYK as a reasonably comprehensive article on a subject of current interest in the US, if it did happen to meet the criteria.
decltype(talk) 08:59, 3 August 2010 (UTC)- I agree. I'll give it a thought -- feel free to as well. BTW, just took a look at the humble beginnings. Quite funny. And good of you to save it.--Epeefleche (talk) 09:33, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

- I'm thinking of going w/one or both of the following, and suggesting speedy movement on it as it is an issue in the news today ...
… that while most Americans and New Yorkers oppose the construction of the Cordoba House mosque near Ground Zero, its location was a selling point for the Muslims who bought the land?
… that while Mayor Mike Bloomberg said that Ground Zero was a "very appropriate place" to build it, most Americans and New Yorkers oppose the construction of the Cordoba House mosque near Ground Zero?
Thoughts? (though I may submit it shortly).--Epeefleche (talk) 03:47, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- I think both are good. Of course, Ground Zero needs to be piped, but I'm sure that's what you intended to do in the first place.
decltype(talk) 06:00, 4 August 2010 (UTC)- Thanks ... yes, but a reminder is always helpful. I've opened it up here. Hopefully someone picks up on my request for fast approval, to catch the wave of interest. Best, and thanks again for your help. Feel free to weigh in there, whatever your thoughts might be. I've, btw, asked the editor who helpfully put the circle in that photo if there is any way to make it bolder, so that it can be seen more readily.--Epeefleche (talk) 06:43, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm glad I read your note. It reminded me that I had not linked to the Ground Zero page that was specific to the WTC ... which I have now addressed. Tx again.--Epeefleche (talk) 06:47, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

help needed
Hi Decltype, I have gotten photo from adil to upload here with the permission, since I am so good in making mess, I have uploaded 3 of the same picture, can you please delete those 2 which does not have "Information |Description". moreover, I havn't been able to upload his picture on his urdu page, can you please, do that for me, or tell me how to do that. thanks a lot, forhånd takk. Regards.Jogibaba (talk) 21:33, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Jogibaba. Since you have uploaded the picture to the same filename, there is no need to delete the older versions, as they do no harm. To use the file on multiple projects, you should upload it to Wikimedia Commons instead of here. However, you need to make sure that your permission explicitly releases the image under a free license compatible with commons, and the permission e-mail must be forwarded to the OTRS. All the information you need to do this is located at Commons:Permission. Regards,
decltype(talk) 05:38, 5 August 2010 (UTC)- thanks for the reply, the email I got from Adil is a long one, because that is in a reply form, both the person replying each other on the same mail, which turned the email into an extremely long email, but here is the last email which Morten has written to Adil
" Hei Adil,
beklager at jeg ikke har fått svart deg før nå. Det går litt fort i svingene her. Du må gjerne bruke bildet på wikipedia og det er helt greit for meg at det kan lastes ned. Trenger du noe offesielt fra meg eller holder det at jeg sier det er ok i denne mailen?
Håper du koser deg i solen :-)
Med vennlig hilsen
Morten "
does this cover the required condition for common license. Sorry, I am writing this without logging, because I am sitting on a public place. But i am Jogibaba. regards77.40.175.1 (talk) 09:45, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there. The e-mail does not quite meet the requirements, as Bendiksen does not explicitly release the image under a free license. If you do not mind, I'll be happy to contact Bendiksen to get a proper release, which will ensure that it can be uploaded to commons and used on all Wikimedia projects without being deleted. Regards,
decltype(talk) 10:06, 5 August 2010 (UTC)- Hi Decltype, there is one admins who want to delete adil khan's photo, an other has written an email to the photographer, can you please put adil khan's picture in the same mode as Kjersti Alveberg, I have sent an email to Adil Khan about this, but this might take some time before he sort things and in that time the photo might be already deleted. Can you please put adil's photo in the same mode as kjersti.RegardsJogibaba (talk) 17:32, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- I e-mailed Bendiksen earlier today. If he responds positively within a week, the file will not be deleted. There's not really that much Khan can do, since he is not the copyright holder of the image. Regards,
decltype(talk) 17:42, 5 August 2010 (UTC)- thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it, can you please help to write a same kind of the email to " noahalveberg@gmail.com ", I got this email id from Kjersti alveberg, her picture, is also in the danger zone, could be deleted anytime after 12th August, her son Noah is the author of the photo which I uploaded for Kjersti. Moreover , right now i tried to upload Adil's photo on his Urdu, profile http://ur.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%B9%D8%A7%D8%AF%D9%84_%D8%AE%D8%A7%D9%86 , but I havn't been able to do that, can you please do that for me, I would check how you have done that, so that I can do the same for others in future. I had written an article about GRo Harlem Brundtland in Urdu, and I managed to upload her picture there * ur: گرو ہارلم برنت لاند , but having no luck with others, sorry for nagging so much, but I find it easier to ask you for help because we are from the same country. Thanks again, regardsJogibaba (talk) 19:01, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sure, I can do that. I tried to fix the Urdu article, but have no idea if I messed something up, since it is really incredibly difficult for me to navigate that page :) Regards,
decltype(talk) 22:43, 10 August 2010 (UTC)- I have now received a positive response from Noah Alveberg as well, so the image will not be deleted. Regards,

Lina Leandersson page
She is half Iranian, I posted an external link that proved it. You deleted it, but if you do a google search for "Lina Leandersson Iranian" there are sources that prove her biological father is Iranian. Since I didn't edit the page correctly due to your standards, would you be kind enough to edit the page so it says she's half-Iranian? Thank you and have a great day, friend! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.239.152.156 (talk) 15:01, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Just type Ctrl+F and write "Iranian" and it will zoom to the part of the article it says she's half-Iranian. Thanks friend! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.239.152.156 (talk) 15:06, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there. What you entered into the article is that her father is Iranian. There is no mention of her father in either of those articles, and therefore the statement was unsupported by the citation. That was the reason for the removal. Regards,
decltype(talk) 15:09, 14 August 2010 (UTC)- I have performed the edit and added the citations. I used some other sources as "The Groove Guide" may or may not be a reliable source. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards,

I had read her biological father was Iranian, and it says somewhere on Google search that she has a stepfather, so I had added two and two together. Thanks for the edit man! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.239.152.156 (talk) 15:56, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
A Slumdog Millionaire Goes Dancing
I will never understand why admins are so counterproductive... I don't mean that in a bad way, but I was writing a further explanation on the Discussion Page, which now is lost because of editing conflicts due to your commenting on the same page. Maybe it is just a shortcoming of Wikipedia's technology, that makes it so laborious and frustrating to get anything actually done on this website. But I will forgo this process because it is not worth spending hours on having a trivial movie that most likely will never be made, deleted... Regards Stevenmitchell (talk) 02:17, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the article is well-referenced and there may be information that could be preserved or incorporated into another article. May I offer a different perspective? Is it not unfortunate that a new editor may forgo the process of adding new information and references to Wikipedia, because it is not worth spending hours on writing an article that most likely (but not certainly) will end up deleted - (Especially if it were to be deleted against policy)? In the long run, I think it is more counterproductive to (ab)use the PROD process to delete articles that warrants discussion, because, while deletion may seem like an obvious outcome for one editor, there are many ways a subject may meet the treshold for inclusion, and new information and sources often comes to light during a deletion discussion. This is why PROD is only for uncontroversial cases, and can be disputed by anyone. Regards,

deeyah
Deeyah's article was edited by 84.202.79.190 , i think this ip is from oslo. this is what has been added first " + dafa ho jao " which means " get lost/ fuck off ", later this was added "| Background = Merasi, Occupation = Singer/topless dancer. I hope you know the problem Deeyah got for her video named "History", where she had shown her naked back and got so many problems at the hand of conservative Pakistani community that she has to flee the country at a very tender age. The word "Merasi" is used to show the contempt toward a caste who has been practising music for generation. This is considered a very low caste in pakistani caste heirarchy, and used to insult someone, next was "Thothal kanjar family Caste", kanjar family means "pimp family". I think this person who has done this does not like Deeyah because of her views on religion and other social issue. I have edited the page but can you ban this person for future vandalism or take some appopriate action.Regards Jogibaba (talk) 17:36, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
After seeing in details, found some more " we came to norway for converting norwegian nation into nation". "Khan was aware of the talent the little girl held in herself and urged her to openly sing in public so she started topless dance in open street for public"
I think her page to needs to be reverted, but I want you to do that because I am not an admin. Thanks in advance--Jogibaba (talk) 17:55, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the notification. I have reverted the edits by the ip. You do not need to be an admin to revert such vandalistic edits. I can't block the IP at this point, as it is probably a dynamic ip that is being used by many people. If it becomes evident that the IP address is being used by the same person to vandalize further, it can be blocked from editing. Regards,
