Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Edward Coristine sources call him an engineer, what sources are you using to call him a programmer?
Please explain. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 12:01, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- A previous edit had changed him from a software engineer to a "software worker" stating that he doesn't have any qualifications to be referred to as an engineer. This edit broke a link and there is no wikipedia page for "software worker" so at first i fixed the link to say software engineer, then after checking the edit history i noticed the previous edit and changed it again to programmer as this is a generic term not dependant on any qualification that has its own wikipedia page and that was in the spirit of the previous edit.
- I have no strong feelings either way, if the previous edit was incorrect in making the change away from "software engineer" i have no objection to changing it back. Giuliotf (talk) 13:46, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- As we go by what reliable sources say, and not our opinions, it should say engineer. That may seem nuts, but that's what the sources say. If we have good sources that haven't been found using other terms, we might be able to use those as well. Doug Weller talk 14:11, 11 February 2025 (UTC)

Help Verify Italian Ref
Hello @Giuliotf, I'd appreciate your help in verifying the following Italian publications I listed on the ADF, to determine whether they meet the criteria of WP:GNG: iltitolo.it, notizienazionali.it, liquidarte.it, and, donna glamour. All of these appear on Google News, and the publishers are identifiable and accountable. There are some concerns regarding potential WP:PROMO and neutrality issues, both in the article itself and on the subject’s official website. While many of the mentions are relatively trivial on top-tier European newspapers, the subject has recently been featured in higher-profile Italian media for his film Anime di coraggio, which was showcased at a the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on 5 September 2025. - I did add an edit summary which was "removed vandalism". This was an unreferenced redlink with no context added by an IP editor at the very bottom of the page in 2011 that appears to have gone un-noticed because all edits made since were bots or bot-assisted as this is a low traffic page. Giuliotf (talk) 00:22, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi Giuliotf! My name is LivelyRatification, and I have just reviewed your DYK nomination of Alexander Vasilyevich Krasnoyartsev. On the Siege of corfu draft
Hi Giuliotf,
Thank you for taking the time to review my draft and for your feedback. I would like to clarify that this event is quite niche, which makes finding detailled mainstream coverage challenging. I might find 2 or 3 other sources but again the level of detail will be quite similar to the other sources. Could you please advise if there is a specific threshold for notability for niche historical events like this? If I can find one more high-quality, independent source that discusses the event , would that be enough to meet the criteria?
Best regards SCTJC (talk) 12:15, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello,
- There is no specific rule about number of sources, but the general rule of thumb is three in-depth sources independent of each other and the subject. Given that this is an obscure event its possible that most decent sources are only accessible offline.
- I have had a look into it and I have found a few sources that talk about the event on Google Books:
- The first source in particular raises some concerns as it states that the siege is only reported in one source from the time and disputes the nature of what happened.
- I personally think these sources plus what you have already would be borderline enough for an article, though other reviewers could reasonably disagree as some of these aren't very in-depth. As an alternative, if you are struggling to find sufficient information, consider incorporating information about this event into an existing article (e.g. Venetian Crusade) rather than making an independent article. Giuseppe Zadra
Hello, Giuliotf I hope this message finds you well, I just wanted to ask how i could further emprove the Giuseppe Zadra draft as most reviewers say there are no reputable sources yet the sources used include:The EBF, Reuters , the Italian Banking Associations own News Outlet (Bancaria) and SKY TG24, not even mentioning the other sources which not only are considered trustworthy in the Italian financial landscape but are also prominent and Respected. Regarding wether his Biography is worthy or mentionable, i have looked over his accomplishments and he played an undeniable role in Italy's late post second world war transition to modern baning working not only in the public institutional sector (ABI director General and Head of Markets at Consob "Like the SEC in the US") but also in the Private sector(President of Italy's largest independent asset manager ANIMA ) he also held Istitutional roles at a European level becoming president of The European Banking Federation twice. I would appreciate any feedback you can give very much to further improve the page kind regards ~2026-28186-29 (talk) 14:17, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you getting in touch.
- With regards to sourcing, sources need to provide significant coverage that is independent of the subject. Some of the sources are just giving coverage of his speeches or publishing statements by him (such as the SKY TG24 link) which are primary sources and while they might be useful to provide content for the article they do not demonstrate notability and a lot of the sources are obituaries or press releases which are routine coverage which could help to fill out an article, but by itself does not demonstrate notability. The sorts of articles that would show notability are articles about him in independent sources, such as newspapers, that provide some sort of analysis of his work.
- I will also say that what didn't help was that the article had been re-submitted 4 times with no changes and apparently no attempt to engage with the other reviewers. For that reason I opted for outright rejection rather than simply declining, as re-submitting the draft multiple times with no changes and no comments is just wasting reviewers' time. The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

- Firstly, you just submitted a blank page without even a name or anything to go on.
- Secondly, to demonstrate notability the burden is on you to demonstrate that the subject has receive significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. The way you go about doing this is by writing an article and backing up claims made in the article with citations to reliable sources, if you provide enough reliable sources and the article has no other issues (e.g. if its promotional) then it is likely to get accepted.
- Thirdly, assuming you are talking about Draft:Sudhan Subedi, you need to provide references that are independent of the subject. The sources you provided in that article are mostly primary sources, i.e. they are too closely affiliated to the subject. While such sources might be ok to source some basic un-controversial facts, they are not sufficient to demonstrate notability. For notability to be established, as the other reviewer has stated, you need to provide ideally at least 3 sources that provide significant independent coverage. Giulio 10:37, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: User:Ethan3805
Hello Giuliotf, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Ethan3805, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: no idea what this is, but it isn't promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ca talk to me! 05:35, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
DYK for Gangfang
On 14 August 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gangfang, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the village of Gangfang was ceded from Burma to China in 1960 after a 50-year dispute? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gangfang. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (Gangfang), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.
AfC August Backlog Drive: Only ten days left!

Hi Giuliotf, thanks for participating in the Articles for Creation August Backlog Drive! We've done amazing work so far, dropping the backlog by more than 3000 drafts already. We have around 1300 drafts outstanding, and we need your help to get that down to zero in the next 10 days. We can do this, but we need all hands on deck to help make it happen – if everyone who signed up to the drive reviewed just 1–2 drafts a day for the next ten days, we'd be down to zero in no time! A list of the pending drafts can be found at WP:AFCSORT, where you can select submissions in your area of interest, or you can find a random submission here. Thank you so much for your work so far, and happy reviewing! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted

Hi Giuliotf, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! Dclemens1971 (talk) 01:02, 28 August 2026 (UTC)
Draft:Giuseppe Zadra
Hello Giuliotf,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to ask whether you would be willing to review Draft:Giuseppe Zadra, as I have substantially revised the article from a sourcing perspective.
I have added several reputable Italian and international sources that provide direct coverage of Giuseppe Zadra, his life and career, and the projects and reforms he was involved in during his career. I have also revised the article to give greater attention to some of the more significant aspects of his work, including the modernization of the Italian stock market, the privatization and restructuring of Italian banks, and the development of PattiChiari, an initiative aimed at increasing transparency and comparability for retail banking customers.
I have tried to address the concerns raised in the previous reviews, particularly by distinguishing between independent secondary sources for notability and institutional sources used only to verify specific factual claims.
I would be very grateful if you could take another look at the draft and let me know whether you think the current sourcing and coverage address the previous concerns.
Kind regards,
James Anderson ~2026-47355-38 (talk) 15:27, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- I've had a look at the article, it is clear that there has been a good faith attempt to improve it so I have no objection with you re-submitting the article at WP:AfC, though I am not confident it would get approved.
- On the sourcing, I would recommend you read through WP:GOLDENRULE and WP:3REFS. Having a look through them it appears that most of them are still WP:PRIMARY or otherwise to closely connected to the subject (e.g. just presenting a quote from him, or an organization he worked for saying he worked for them), and also a number of obituaries which we should be careful about (see WP:OBITUARIES).
- While I am not familiar with Altreconomia's reliability as a source, the article you used is the sort of coverage we are looking for, if you can find two more sources that talk about him similar to how that one does then that should be enough to establish WP:NOTABILITY.
- Given the history and length of the article I would recommend that before re-submitting it you add a comment explaining how you have improved it and stating up-front which are your three best sources that would establish notability. Giulio 23:23, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hello Giulio, I will have a read through the wikipedia pages you have advised me to look through and I'll send you a list of the best sources explaining what the articles talk about and why they are considered reliable (one must consider that while some of them might not be international newspapers they are definately among the most important in Italy when talking about finance) ~2026-47348-16 (talk) 13:21, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- I can have a look and give my opinion on the sources you are thinking of using, however at this point I don't think it would be appropriate for me to be the one to formally re-review this at AfC Giulio 00:51, 3 September 2026 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you reviewed
Hi Giuliotf. Thank you for your work on Basilica of Saint Eutropius, Saintes. Another editor, Gurkubondinn, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
I'm unreviewing this page because it is AI-generated, see WP:AIN § User:Fifernai
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Gurkubondinn}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

On AI Noticeboard
Hi Giulio.
I’m concerned about this discussion, especially given what happened in March. I genuinely try to edit in good faith and have reviewed and cleaned up the few issues I’ve found. I’d appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks. Carigval.97 (talk) 02:26, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
- If you take a look at the diffs I posted on the WP:AIN thread you made significant expansions of not complete re-writes of 3 pages and a full page translation within less than 1 hour.
- I'll assume you complied with WP:LLMTRANSLATE for the translation by working on it offline as you said
- So that leaves the three other pages. You haven't declared those edits as being translations, and with your with your other output I don't see when you would have had the time to write that much material, particularly as they are complete re-writes and not just adding a little bit extra material.
- If they are translations (LLM assisted or not)) you need to attribute them properly per WP:TRANSLATE. Giulio 09:11, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks, Giulio. Yes, those three were translations as well. I’ll be more careful about properly attributing and clearly declaring translations going forward. Thanks for pointing this out, and sorry. Carigval.97 (talk) 20:28, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
August 2026 AfC backlog drive award
Minor edits are often-overlooked, but essential, contributions to the Wikipedia. The Minor Barnstar is awarded for making minor edits of the utmost quality. This is awarded to Giuliotf for accumulating more than 30 points during the August 2026 AfC backlog drive. Thank you for sharing your time, knowledge and dedication; together, we reviewed over 12,700 drafts during the drive and brought the 3+ month backlog down to just a single week, which we couldn't have done it without you. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:45, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
