John Rosenberg (academic)
I am a little surprised that you accepted the article from AfC in the style it was in at the time-- unless you meant to immediately edit it to the minimum standard. WP should certainly have an article on every notable academic, but, equally, WP is not intended to contain academic CVs and press releases. Since I often work on these subjects, and since he is very clearly notable, I rewrote it--please compare the versions. DGG ( talk ) 04:33, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) The previous version was admittedly crass, but its standards somewhat was negotiably minimum for it to be accepted. It's just the honorifics I wish these people will stop using. So good job for rewording it, you deserve a no-Barnstar! ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 13:51, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I wish I could made it more as a FA or GA on other wiki especially on European language. (P/s:But it's too hard)

Why? I hope too that day would never come.. Sure, but on the ms.wiki I don't think it is necessary because here is the only my home wiki, this account been create here and it should be where it born. :P
- Btw Arctic, could you help me about this part here?.. (You can see below) Thank you. ;) — иz нίpнόp ʜᴇʟᴘ! 15:06, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- The article needs copyediting for sentences like: "a memorial which marks the site of the June 6, 1976 plane crash known as the Double Six Tragedy most notably the first Chief Minister of Sabah, Tun Fuad Stephens."
Request modification.
In the Assimilation part, i think the content is quite misleading and confusing. The Vietnamese people intentionally have adopted Chinese culture in term of clothing, language, traditions, politic system for thousands of year, not from Chinese immigrants, same things to Korea and Japan. Also the reference doesn't represent any idea related to Vietnam? Who gave in? I request a modification to this section. Ho Cam Dao is undoubtedly Sino-Vietnamese pronunciation, no different to other Sino-Vietnamese vocabularies. Sino-Vietnamese vocabularies dominate 60- 80% of total Vietnamese vocabularies. - Probably you want to source your changes? And please do not delete big chunks of information without explanation in the edit summary. Cheers.

- Sorry but i think there is no need for this part. All information about the Hoa are already in the Hoa people section. Deletion is necessary. I don't want people misunderstand. Also i request an add-on for the Overseas Chinese in Japan (East Asia region ). Anyway thanks for reminding me about this.Hiraki (talk) 08:52, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Restoring comments
This edit was a clear violation of WP:BLANKING, WP:OWNTALK, and WP:DRRC. There are specific exclusions reflecting items that cannot be removed, and warnings is not one of them. When an editor removes a warning from their talk page, it is an acknowledgement that they have received and read it. Restoring it is seen as an attempt to humiliate the editor by forcing them to display the reprimand as a "badge of shame". Please do not do that again. --76.189.109.155 (talk) 17:34, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions
We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
- Images
- Is the number of illustrative images about right?
- Links
- Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
- Sources
- For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

Alongside the Signpost's interviews with the Wikimedia Foundation's (WMF) Board of Trustees candidates, the Signpost asked the candidates for the Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC) and its Ombudsperson position a series of questions relating to the positions they may be taking on. For the FDC candidates, this will include specific recommendations to the WMF on how to disburse over US$11 million in donors' funds to affiliate organizations, something which appears to have garnered little attention from the editing community at large so far.
- In the media: Pagans complain about Qworty's anti-Pagan editing
In the continuing saga of User:Qworty's outing as author Robert Clark Young, several blogs and websites covered the now-banned user's anti-Pagan editing. In an article published on 22 May 2013, TechEye described Qworty's edits as a "reign of terror" and were pleased to find that he had not succeeded in removing several prominent Pagan biographies from the encyclopedia.

- Hey Bonkers, I did not retire from simple.wiki because of a failing RfA. If because of that, then I would have already retired from ms.wiki! I retired from simple.wiki because after careful consideration, I found it pointless and a waste of time to edit a wiki that is in simple English and so few article views. Your DYK nomination of Plastingia naga
Hi, if you want your second hook suggestion on Template:Did you know nominations/Plastingia naga to be considered, it will require some serious editing. It's currently 284 characters, excluding the (pictured), which doesn't count. This is way over the maximum limit of 200. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 20:22, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.
IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!

Reply to your message on my talk page.
I very much agree with your assessment. However, I think there is just about enough room for the possibility that it is a kid who wants to contribute, and needs encouragement to settle down, for me to take a friendly warning and then wait and see line. My talk page message, while intended to be friendly, does contain two warnings of possible blocks, and I have every intention of keeping an eye on the editor, with the block button available when needed. I find that 85% of times when I do this sort of thing, the result is that the editor very soon makes one or two more vandalism edits, and is blocked. In that situation the indef block is really unquestionable, and won't be overturned by another admin. Very little has been lost by giving the editor a chance which they didn't take. Another 10% of the time the editor never edits again, so it nothing at all has been lost. The remaining 5% of the times, the editor takes the point, stops vandalising, and we get one more constructive editor on board. Taking this line is thus a net positive for the project.
One more point. The fairly low-level silly editing is certainly not the sort of thing that justifies an immediate jump to a level four warning. Loads of times I have seen AIV reports declined in this sort of situation because an administrator thinks that the user has been inappropriately warned. Also, as far as I am personally concerned, I am much less likely to block the user for his or her next vandalism edit with the level four warning in place than without it, because the user has not been given a chance to take on board a friendly message and reform. Although I did not post one of the standard template warnings, my message included two warnings that continuing the same stuff might lead to a block. A warning which mentions the possibility of a block is, as far as I am concerned, a level three warning, whether or not it comes in a templated level three message, and, following those warnings, I will be perfectly willing to block this user for just one more vandalism edit. I think that your warning is at best unnecessary, and at worst may even be counterproductive, and I would encourage you to consider reverting it. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:18, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Seen your reply - thanks. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:37, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Declining unblock request
I have just seen your edits at User talk:Atthaftheband. Even though you posted a {{nao}}, you should not have declined the unblock request. Your comment was, of course, perfectly valid, but you should have posted it underneath the unblock request. Whereas a non-admin post at one of the admin noticeboards does not prevent anyone else, including an administrator, from seeing the thread and contributing, declining an unnblock request has the effect of removing it from the list of pending unblock requests. This is likely to mean that no administrator ever sees the request at all. On this occasion, not only did I see it, but Bwilkins had already seen it and reverted your edits, so no harm was done, but there is no guarantee that that will always happen. The drop-down box containing the texts to post to decline or accept an unblock request is headed "Administrator use only", and it really does mean what it says. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:36, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- I've just seen that this has already been the subject of a section above. However, I will leave my comment here. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:39, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Um
IIRCIf I remember correctly, you're not an admin - you may never action unblock requests - there is not opportunity for NACNon-administrator closes on those (✉→BWilkins←✎) 09:15, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Bwilkins, I don't get what you mean by IIRC and NAC? Arctic Kangaroo (✉ • ✎) 09:17, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
And just taking the opportunity to ask, are non-admins allowed to decline AIV reports, especially stale ones or those that are insufficiently warned or not vandalism, as long as we use the non-admin observation template and we use the "thinking" of a WP admin? Arctic Kangaroo (✉ • ✎) 09:37, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know of any guideline or policy that deals with that question. Certainly you shouldn't post one of the closing templates without also posting a non-admin observation template, to avoid giving a misleading impression, and my own feeling is that it is probably safer to just use the non-admin observation template on its own. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:46, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
WTF?!?!? You might want to start leaving ALL requests for unblock completely alone. I'm getting tired of edit conflicts caused by your errors (✉→BWilkins←✎) 11:23, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry about that. I saw that the thing was blank, so I thought just to remove it. Arctic Kangaroo (✉ • ✎) 11:29, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- It was very obvious that his line above was intended to be his unblock request. I had already moved it into the unblock template - you actually removed his edit AND my edit - please pay closer attention. Besides, we typically give people (especially noob's - although WT isn't a noob) time to actually see the error and correct the error before simply removing the template. Admins will often say "so, what's the reason you want to be unblocked" in order to poke them into filling it out correctly. The unblock process is very personally-sensitive for a lot of editors. Being blocked is an embarassment (usually) - don't screw with their emotions by undoing their template when it's wrong - we guide them towards fixing it (✉→BWilkins←✎) 11:34, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Hey, AK
I notice that you have interacted with User:Arosariorivera and I am curious if all his (her? not likely) edits are vandalism? in any case the one on my watchlist was not verifiable by me and then I saw all his other edits and then ran into your warnings. BTR-80
Hello. I want to start by saying that what I intend to write should not be taken as criticism in any way, but only as information for future use. BTR-80 has a long standing problem with overenthusiastic users from Bangladesh who keep adding totally unrealistic, and totally unsourced, numbers, claiming that the Bangladesh Armed Forces have thousands of BTR-80s, when in reality they have a bit over 100, almost all of them earmarked for peacekeeping operations and paid for by the UN. So I have reverted the edits made by User:Mnakash today, both because the reference he/she provided is not a reliable source and because not even that unreliable reference supported his edits. "Militaryforces.asia" is a brand new bloglike website, launched 2 June, 2013, that until yesterday had an email address at Yahoo as its contact email, and that doesn't say where their information comes from. Making it worthless as a source since it could all be just made up. In addition to that the link provided by Mnakash to militaryforces.asia didn't support his claim about 600 BTR-80s, and in fact mentioned no numbers at all. Making it a faked reference, and technically vandalism (for which he has been warned). And that is typical behaviour for the nationalistic/youthfully enthusiastic users from Bangladesh who almost daily try to sneak in their overinflated numbers in the article, trying all the tricks in the book and then some. Vandalism that is the reason why the article is PC1-protected. Cheers. Thomas.W (talk) 15:55, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
U23 Singapore National Football Team
Hey!
Following our win against Philippines U23 in a Friendly Match that have just ended a few moments ago, I have found out that we do not have a wiki page of our nation's U23 team. The wiki link of our U23 team on our Singapore national football team wiki page brings us to Courts Young Lions, the Courts Young Lions wiki page was also wrongly classified as the National under-23 football teams of Asia (AFC).
The nation's U23 team should instead be referred to the SEA Games squad and also the friendly squad the coach has picked because not all of the players are from Courts Young Lions. For eg, goalscorer, Safuwan Baharudin for the game earlier on.
Hence, I am thinking of opening another new wiki page about the nation's U23 team and am wondering if you want to help me out as well!
Let me know what you think!
Yienshawn (talk) 14:08, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Haha. I don't really take note of them too. But it just bugs me that the wiki U23 page brings me to Courts Young Lions which shouldn't be that way! I shall see if I will be free to start another new wiki page! Haha Yienshawn (talk) 18:44, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

- (edit conflict) Oh sorry about that, I didn't notice that I was actually removing content. I only noticed that the previous editor reverted your edit. Arctic Kangaroo (✉ • ✎) 15:40, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, I don't know why he removed the content at all in the first place but in any case, thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicolee92 (talk • contribs) 15:42, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
Hi again, the same person 'Harry the Dirty Dog' removed the things I posted again and is not responding to me. Could you maybe explain why he did? I'm still new to this. thanks! Nicolee92 (talk) 16:21, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

Omarion
Omarion has talked about his up bringing in inglewood and looking up to O.G.'s like Taco, ghost, and boner on his Maybach O series 5. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.237.154.17 (talk) 01:51, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
He is closely affiliated to the Inglewood Neighborhood Piru gang area in Northside Inglewood. He also talked about former cte recording artist 211 and Ice Burgandy being his friends from the "sandbox". UAC isn't a real gang it used to be a clique around here called looney tunes who were a sub-set of the Neighborhood Piru bloods at the time. Omarion is said to have been from that sub-set as a kid by locals who know him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.237.154.17 (talk) 01:59, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

- Op-ed: Two responses to the 'Tragedy of Wikipedia's Commons'
Following last week's op-ed by Gigs ("The Tragedy of Wikipedia's Commons"), the Signpost is carrying two contrary opinions from MichaelMaggs, a bureaucrat on Wikimedia Commons, and Mattbuck, a British Commons administrator.
- Traffic report: Most popular Wikipedia articles of the last week
The season finale of Game of Thrones ensured that the epic high fantasy series would dominate the top 10 again last week; however, it was joined by Maurice Sendak and Man of Steel.

- News and notes: Swedish Wikipedia's millionth article leads to protests; WMF elections—where are all the voters?
With erysichton elaborata, the Swedish Wikipedia passed the one million article Rubicon this week. While this is a mostly symbolic achievement, serving as a convenient benchmark with which to gain publicity and attention in an increasingly statistical world, the particular method by which the Swedish site has passed the mark has garnered significant attention—and controversy.
- Featured content: Cheaper by the dozen
Eleven articles, twelve lists, and eleven pictures were promoted to 'featured' status on the English Wikipedia this week.

The WMF's engineering report for May was published recently on the Wikimedia blog and on the MediaWiki wiki ("friendly" summary version), giving an overview of all Foundation-sponsored technical operations in that month.
- Arbitration report: The Farmbrough amendment request—automation and arbitration enforcement
Richard Farmbrough was set to have his day in court, but as events transpired, this was not to be so. On 25 March 2013, an accusation was made against Farmbrough at Arbitration Enforcement (AE), claiming that he violated the terms of an automated edit restriction. Within hours, Farmbrough had filed his own request with the arbitration committee, citing the newly filed AE request and claiming that the motion was being used "in an absurd way" in the filing of enforcement requests: "I have not made any edits that a sane person would consider automation."

Incomplete DYK nomination
Hello! Your submission of Template:Did you know nominations/2013 Southeast Asian haze at the Did You Know nominations page is not complete; see step 3 of the nomination procedure. If you do not want to continue with the nomination, tag the nomination page with {{db-g7}}, or ask a DYK admin. Thank you. DYKHousekeepingBot (talk) 20:53, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Suggestion
The number of !votes do not measure whether or not actions should be done; it is to be based on the argument's merits. You are also WP:INVOLVED in it; so closing is usually a bad idea. If this was a contentious action you could have found yourself in a bit of hot water as some of your actions in that discussion can be seen as problematic; like the repeated tallying.
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. Regards from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker. -- SuggestBot (talk) 23:27, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
