Question from Hbwindows (23:03, 30 July 2025)

I have a business called Hal Bennett Window Cleaning that has been around for 21 years and I bought it in 2016. I was trying to create a page to tell about our backstory, how do I do this?

-Thanks --Hbwindows (talk) 23:03, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

@Hbwindows: Writing about the company you own isn't a good idea as you have a conflict of interest on that topic. Also consider reading the username policy on company names. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 05:56, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Question from Liza Popjeni (22:05, 10 August 2025)

1. What's the best way to format citations for articles? 2. How do I handle conflicting sources when researching an article? 3. Can you explain Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and how to apply it? 4. How do I know when to use bold text or italics in an article? 5. What's the process for adding images to an article, and what are the copyright requirements? --Liza Popjeni (talk) 22:05, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

@Liza Popjeni:
  1. Wikipedia uses a custom citation style, and you should use the {{cite ...}} template which you think best fits the citation source
  2. I haven't really done research for an article, so try to raise an issue about that on the article's talk page?
  3. TLDR: Articles must not take sides, but should explain the sides, fairly and without editorial bias. This applies to both what you say and how you say it.
  4. You generally shouldn't use any bold or italic text in articles. The manual of style explains in what cases to use those text formats
  5. To add an image to an article, it must be relevant. To upload an image, follow directions on WP:UPLOAD. The licensing requirements depend on where you are uploading the image

Caricias album cover

Hello Leonidlednev,

I have recently uploaded a 500px scan of the album cover for Caricias, and you have undone that edit. I was almost sure that that size would be too large, so I have attempted to reupload it at 316px, the size acceptable to the bot that downsized the file previously. However, I have found that this does not work either. The file uploads fine, but it is not shown on the Caricias page and attempting to click its link takes me to the previous file; I can only view my file in the Media Viewer. I see that if I attempt to press "undo" on my update it says that it seems like that's already been done. I know you have not done that individually, but have you somehow placed a hold on any updates to that photograph? I would like to add a better representation because the current is crappy-looking, but I cannot if you have prevented me in some way. Please let me know. Thank you. Zach12211 (talk) 17:37, 16 August 2025 (UTC)

@Zach12211: If an album cover image already exists, there shouldn't really be any reason for a new version to be uploaded. The guidelines state that images should be rescaled as small as possible to still be useful as identified by their rationale, and no larger. See WP:IMAGERES. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 19:34, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
I see. I uploaded it only for cosmetic purposes, because the current version is over-compressed and the colors are inaccurate. Zach12211 (talk) 20:33, 16 August 2025 (UTC)

Is there anything I can do to improve this page without being a historian? --Felanta (talk) 01:31, 20 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from Browzor (12:11, 28 August 2025)

Good day Leonidlednev Just wanted to introduce myself and perhaps, if I may this early, ask for a reference on the "markup" structure Wikipedia prefers these days, as well as a link to a brilliant article to learn its structure as a contribution with value on Wikipedia. Question from Szeremeta (21:46, 2 September 2025)

Hey man, I'd like to get some help getting my Draft published. It's been over 35 days since I last resubmitted it, and I noticed in that time the volume of drafts awaiting review has nearly doubled to over 2000. I was wondering what was going on and if there was anything you could help me with? --Szeremeta (talk) 21:46, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

@Szeremeta: The number of drafts fluctuates, but they are usually reviewed within a few hours. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 23:15, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
So what happened if mine hasn't been reviewed in a few hours? More like 5 weeks? Szeremeta (talk) 00:08, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
@Szeremeta: You have to wait longer. You can also improve the draft while waiting for it to get reviewed. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 13:32, 3 September 2025 (UTC)

An attack on a page you recently edited

Hi @Leonidlednev I see you recently edited Carlos Vasallo's page, but I am sure you have not noticed much of the rubbish thing added by an IP editor on 26 and 28 September to attack the page without any evidence, May you have a look at it for a minute? They have even made it bold, so that it is very noticeable. ManIxal (talk) 12:45, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Castor Z3 (06:38, 3 October 2025)

Note: Castor Z3's mentor CanonNi is away.

If I make (credible) changes to an article, how and who will check if my adaptation is in fact true and legit? How can you guarantee validity of information when the readers of said information are the once writing it too? @Castor Z3: When you add information, other editors will check if it is factual. Generally, you should look at WP:RSP when adding sources, as the community will determine which sources to trust. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 19:34, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

@Aberbrothock: After a quick Google search, I could not find enough significant coverage to create the article. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 16:02, 20 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from Colette2204 (06:30, 21 November 2025)

I would like to edit Higherlife Foundation page but I am being told on Teahouse talk page that I must not edit it myself because of a COI - I have a declaration on my userpage and not sure why I am being told I cannot edit the page. Please help clarify? --Colette2204 (talk) 06:30, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

@Colette2204: Generally, if you have a COI, you should open edit requests with {{Edit COI}} on the article's talk page instead of editing it directly. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 07:31, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

Administrator Elections - Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • November 25 – December 1 - Call for candidates
  • December 4–8 - Discussion phase
  • December 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for admin elections candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. Later, a user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

About removing lines

Why did you remove the lines from my user page without my permission? I will Complain against you! Wiki - Read and Write (talk) 16:37, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

@Wiki - Read and Write: Sorry about that, I should have asked you about the userpage instead. In general, you should not add infoboxes or topicons of permissions you do not have. For example, you are not extended-confirmed as you do not have 500 edits yet. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 16:57, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
Oh so for this you edited my userpage. Ok then. But remember to inform me earlier please. By the way nice to meet you Dude. Wiki - Read and Write (talk) 17:35, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

Administrator Elections - Discussion Phase

The discussion phase of the December 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • Dec 4–8 - Discussion phase (we are here)
  • Dec 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • Scrutineering phase

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Discussion phase.

On December 9, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which typically lasts between a couple days and a week. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate who has not been recalled must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. A candidate that has been recalled must have at least 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Misdescriptions

Per m:Meta:Requests_for_adminship/WikiBayer_(removal) WikiBayer repeatedly fails to maintain PROPER identification of abusers, instead using concealed insult-redirects contrary to w:en:WP:do not insult the vandals. Compare:

Administrator Elections - Voting Phase

The voting phase of the December 2025 administrator elections has started and will continue until Dec 15 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • Dec 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote has a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for a few days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a non-recall candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes. Recall candidates must achieve 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Speedy deletion nomination of User talk:Mkashifsultan

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User talk:Mkashifsultan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Wiiformii (talk) 17:54, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Jlm0424 (13:52, 6 February 2026)

Note: Jlm0424's mentor Alyo is away.

I am having a terrible time trying to get my page published. --Jlm0424 (talk) 13:52, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

@Jlm0424: All pages that are in the article space have to meet Wikipedia's guidelines on verifiability and notability. It doesn't appear that your draft meets either of those, nor does it meet the notability guidelines for biographies. If the subject of the article has multiple articles written about him in reliable and independent sources, and they don't just mention him once or twice, then you can add them to the article See H:CITE for help on citing sources, and WP:RS for sourcing guidelines. Also, you have a conflict of interest related to the subject, and should follow the guidelines related to that. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 17:00, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
Alright. Thank you Jlm0424 (talk) 17:03, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

Edited page reverted to old page

I spent a couple of hours editing my page but the page has reverted to the old page because I used a chatbot for help. Can I continue to work on my edits so that the changes I already made are not lost? Yana V Rodgers (talk) 23:16, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

@Yana V Rodgers: You generally shouldn't edit pages that are about yourself. If you plan to do that, you need to follow the guidelines on conflict of interest. The older version of the article exists in the article's history. Also, you already edited your article using another account. Could you explain why you switched accounts? Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 23:21, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your helpful response. The entry was woefully out of date, especially the list of publications, so that is why I edited it myself. I did not know that I have 2 Wikipedia accounts and will be more careful next time about consistency and following the guidelines on conflict of interest. Question from Andrew Spackman (15:57, 11 February 2026)

Hello. Thank you for being my mentor. Do you have suggestions how I can fix my entry. I am struggling to get the in-text references to work properly. My entry is heavily reliant on the BBC references and coverage in Electronic Sound Magazine but I’m not sure they are being entered by me correctly. --Andrew Spackman (talk) 15:57, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

@Andrew Spackman: The references you inserted are formatted correctly, but you shouldn't write articles about yourself. If you still plan to, follow the guidelines on conflicts of interest. Your submission was declined, as it didn't meet Wikipedia's guidelines on notability, specifically WP:GNG, WP:BIO, and WP:NMUSIC Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 18:03, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

how do I register my company on Wikipedia --Square One Network (talk) 10:45, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

@Square One Network: You generally shouldn't write about your company due to your conflict of interest to that topic. If your company has received significant coverage from independent and reliable sources, any editor can start an article about it. Also, you should consider changing your username to something like "(name) at Square One Network" to comply with WP:CORPNAME and avoid a block. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 20:00, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Deaths in 2026

I noticed you left BradyBunchFan a number of disruptive editing/content removal warnings over their edits to Deaths in 2026. I don't understand why you felt that was disruptive editing? Question from Futureperfect007 (10:36, 25 February 2026)

Hello. I have created an account after searching for information on a Leeds artist, Margaret Willson, part of the Willson Group of artists. Only Wikipedia has any information at all about her, despite her father J J Willson being influential in the setting up of the Leeds Art Gallery. I possess two oil pastel portraits by Margaret Willson, signed and dated 1906 (I think - the final digit is unclear). They have her name and address on the reverse. The address is 96 Caledonian Road, Leeds. This address isn't shown as one of the studios used by Margaret and her family on the Wikipedia page. Is it possible/useful to add it? --Futureperfect007 (talk) 10:36, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
