Question from Nihilux (16:58, 17 June 2025)

Hey there,

how do I link to a subsection within an article?

To be more precise, I want to link to the subsection "Dorsal and ventral" in the section "Main terms" in the article "Anatomical terms of location", if that helps.

Thank you in advance! --Nihilux (talk) 16:58, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

@Nihilux Hello! Linking to a subsection is the same as linking to a section; it involves putting a hash (#) next to the article to be linked to, followed by the name of the subsection. In your example, it would be Anatomical terms of location#Dorsal and ventral. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 17:07, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Nihilux (19:41, 18 June 2025)

I'm currently sitting at an article (Errett Bishop), where they mostly used his first name. Should I change that or is it fine like that? --Nihilux (talk) 19:41, 18 June 2025 (UTC)

@Nihilux Hello! Per the manual of style, [a]fter the initial mention, a person should generally be referred to by surname only. As so, the article should be changed to use his surname, Bishop. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 20:01, 18 June 2025 (UTC)

New page

Hi Mwwv!

I created a page. The draft is here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:AuditBoard When might it go live? What does the process look like? I have no COI with the company. I do not work for them, nor am I in contact with them directly or through any 3rd party.

Thanks! Binsen2323 (talk) 21:30, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

@Binsen2323 Hello! The normal process of these is to go through Articles for Creation. I have placed the AfC template on the page for you. Once you're ready to submit the draft for review, press the button that says so. Since there's a backlog drive happening right now, your submission is more likely to get reviewed faster. It very widely depends when it gets moved to the article namespace, it could be after a few hours or even never. My advice to you is to be patient and fix any problems that are identified. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 01:56, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Nihilux (16:18, 20 June 2025)

Is there any way to make images look different depending on if you are using light or dark mode? I'm currently on an article which uses pictures with black lines and a transparent background, which does not go well with dark mode. I also already tried just filling the background with white, but then they look weird in the frames and if I remove them, they get aligned in a very weird way --Nihilux (talk) 16:18, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

@Nihilux Hello! Unfortunately, this is one of those moments where I can't give much advice. I personally do not use Wikipedia's built in dark mode, rather the dark reader extension (hell, it even has an example of it being used on here), so I can't give any advice on the dark mode Wikipedia uses. Dark reader is pretty hit-or-miss when it comes to inverting images, but it gets the job done. Anyways, I'm sure the people over at VPT will be working on dark mode image support at some point in the future. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 17:31, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Ok, I'll just add the images with white backgrounds if I don't find a workaround Nihilux (talk) 20:53, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Or I just make the lines blue or something so you can see them in both modes. Should check if there is anything against color, first, though Nihilux (talk) 20:54, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

June Backlog Drive is almost over!

Our pending drafts!

Hi! Thanks for participating in the Articles for Creation June Backlog Drive! We've done amazing work so far, dropping the backlog by more than 2000 drafts already. We have around 4500 drafts outstanding, and we need your help to get that down to zero in 5 days. We can do this, but we need all hands on deck to make this happen. Question from Nicbicarrot (22:48, 17 July 2025)

Hello, I just created a draft for an article and am wondering how the process works for it becoming an actual article. Thanks --Nicbicarrot (talk) 22:48, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

@Nicbicarrot Hello! The process is simple: When the draft is submitted for review, it will be put in the Articles for Creation queue. One of the AfC reviewers will eventually come across it and decide to review it. If it's suitable for the encyclopedia, it'll be accepted and put into the mainspace. If it isn't, it'll be declined with directive on how the article can be improved. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 02:39, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Question from NEUEGEIST (11:01, 18 July 2025)

Hello! One of the main things I am interested in helping with is adding short-form information to existing pages. In particular, information about fashion designer's collection (i.e. the names of them, the locations, the dates, etc.). However, I am worried about adding incomplete lists which may look messy and undesirable (for example, if information about the name of a specific collection is lost media). Are incomplete lists/details acceptable? --NEUEGEIST (talk) 11:01, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

@NEUEGEIST Hello! They absolutely are! Many lists are incomplete by design; these are called dynamic lists. Additionally, there is no rush, so you don't need to add all of the information at once. Add what you can (and make sure it's cited) and you won't be shunned. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 20:47, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Are our edits voted on by other users? Is that what the red - 4 is by mine in the list of edits?

Thanks! --PaperDollMandie (talk) 09:58, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

@PaperDollMandie Hello! The number in a given edit represents the bytes (characters, for the most part) added/removed in that edit. Hello, I don't have any edited and translated articles on Wikipedia. Could you please advise me on How many articles can I be experienced after editing or translating them? --Iranian girl 15 (talk) 05:44, 8 August 2025 (UTC)

@Iranian girl 15 Hello! This is likely due to the fact you don't have autoconfirmed. Autoconfirmed is required to create articles in the article namespace. Even then, I suggest you put your translated articles in the draft namespace and utilize the Articles for Creation process. There is also a tool that makes translating articles more streamlined, called the content translation tool, but you need to be extended confirmed to get access to it. i want to make my own page --Ali Asghar Abad (talk) 14:19, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

@Ali Asghar Abad Hello! I suggest you stay away from doing so for quite a few weeks. Wikipedia has tons of policies and guidelines that need to be followed when creating pages, and learning those can take quite a while. Even if you decide to create it anyway, your subject needs to follow either the general notability guideline or any of the subject-specific notability guidelines. At the base level, Wikipedia articles need multiple citations to reliable, secondary, independent sources so that information can be properly verified. This can be a lot to take in, but it must be followed, else your article may be deleted. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 15:29, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

@No.1JosephNatusfan Hello! Unfortunately, it's very likely that it's gone for good. Wikipedia doesn't have a system for saving lost edits, so it's up to the end user to make sure they have a copy of their text as a just in case measure. mwwv converseedits 11:03, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

Temporary account IP viewer granted

The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address

Hello, Mwwv. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! – robertsky (talk) 03:38, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

Question from MrBigRobot (07:53, 22 September 2025)

How do I create a page or article without reference --MrBigRobot (talk) 07:53, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

@MrBigRobot Hello! Please do not create unreferenced articles. Such articles go against Wikipedia's principle of verifiability and will most likely be deleted since notability isn't shown. Either way, you would be putting the burden on other editors to find sources, which can be seen as disruptive editing and may get you blocked. Articles must have reliable secondary sources independent of the subject. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 13:55, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

I often struggle with keeping all the information while changing a page with significant problems. For example, articles that include irrelevant information or an article that is organized as a list of dates but is marked for an editor to change it to prose. How do I deal with this? Question from Cataract10 (18:18, 21 October 2025)

Hello! I do not really understand the "copyedit" type of editing. Is there a quicker way to locate the problem within the article without skimming the entire thing? For example, if an article is flagged for "subjective tone," is there a specifc part that gets highlighted/flagged or do you just have to find it? --Cataract10 (talk) 18:18, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

@Cataract10 Hello! Unfortunately, the majority of the time, articles/sections that are tagged with the banner will probably not have any inline templates that mark exactly where the problem is. If you find no inline templates after a quick skim, you're going to have to find the problem yourself. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 21:40, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
If I cannot find any problems, is there an option or tag that says "didn't find anything" or do I just leave? Cataract10 (talk) 22:30, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
@Cataract10 Sorry for the wait! If you can't find any problems, you can simply remove the tag from the article since it no longer applies. mwwv converseedits 16:18, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Charlesmgraham79 (19:47, 21 October 2025)

Hello I created my profile with view to creating article on my great grandfather Charles Gray a major contributor the Oxford English dictionary and possible my grandfather who got a OBE his younger son Bazil gray (my great uncle) already has an article as does his granddaughter Camilla (though the family realised that this article is rather inaccurate and will need correction I hope this is ok? --Charlesmgraham79 (talk) 19:47, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

@Charlesmgraham79 Hello! Please do not post your article. Wikipedia has many strict guidelines regarding conflict of interest. It comes with many restrictions on editing the article. I suggest you stop working on the article if it's unfinished. If your great grandfather is notable, that is, has multiple reliable, independent, secondary sources about him, someone would have already created an article on him. On top of this, do not directly edit any of your family's articles. It is strongly discouraged and could possibly lead to you getting blocked. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 21:46, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
well that leave a problem with this articule
Camilla Gray - Wikipedia
Camilla is my mother cousin I read this "According to Abbott Gleason's father, Basil Gray did not approve of higher education for girls and so she did not attend university, instead," this i suspected untrue Camilla mother my great aunt was highly educated Nicolete Gray - Wikipedia I checked this fact with mother and her 9ie Cammilla brother Edmund and sister Cecilia and they confirmed the reason see not attend university was she wanted to be ballerina but was to tall for this, (her sister sophie did go university with help from my great aunt) great aunt Nicolette also wrote a history of her daughter that ran to mid 1960's Edmund who is quite old is looking this out. I don't know who abbot Gleason father is but I would suggest he know rather less about situation than Camilla brother and sister cousin. I fully appricate you don't want family member writing pluff piece on family member however who is better postion to know someone. Charlesmgraham79 (talk) 15:17, 22 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Abinav Subramanian (13:47, 24 October 2025)

What if I wanna create a new article --Abinav Subramanian (talk) 13:47, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

@Abinav Subramanian Hello! There's quite a lot that goes into creating a page; first, you want to determine if the subject is notable. You'll need to find multiple reliable independent secondary sources with significant coverage of the subject. If you cannot find enough sources, then the subject is non-notable and does not deserve an article. Then, draft your article in the draft namespace, and once you've finished, submit it for review via Articles for Creation.
This is all a very involved process, and I recommend you don't start out with creating articles. Guide to temporary accounts

Hello, Mwwv. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

How do temporary accounts work?

Editing from a temporary account
  • When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern: ~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
  • All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
  • A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
  • As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
    • There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
    • There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

Temporary account IP viewer user right

How to enable IP Reveal

Impact for administrators

  • It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
  • It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
  • Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

  • Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
  • Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
  • See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.

Useful tools for patrollers

  • It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences Appearance Advanced options Tick Enable the user info card
    • This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
  • Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
  • Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
  • The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

Question from Bingpongping (23:11, 31 October 2025)

how can i know if a page i make is allowed or not? should i just ask you? --Bingpongping (talk) 23:11, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

@Bingpongping Hello! Deciding whether a page is allowed or not should initially be made by your own judgement. You can always request the article, though it will take a very long time for it to get made. In general, articles have to meet the general notability guideline or one of the subject specific notability guidelines to be allowed. For the former, you'll need to find multiple reliable independent secondary sources with significant coverage of the subject. After the page is created though, it may be tested against any one of the speedy deletion criteria, PRODded, or sent to articles for deletion. Regardless, all articles will be reviewed by a new page reviewer. Because of all of these steps, I suggest you don't start out with creating articles. There's a lot of content-related policy that goes into them and it requires lots of experience to fully comprehend it all. I've put some links on your talk page that should help get you started. Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:55, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from Backdoor745 (14:10, 19 November 2025)

Hi, new to wiki editing and am looking to create a wikipedia page. Would it be better to create it from scratch or reach to an editor of a related page if they would be interested in creating? --Backdoor745 (talk) 14:10, 19 November 2025 (UTC)

@Backdoor745 Hello! Assuming you are talking about articles, generally, reaching out to other editors to create articles is discouraged, as they will likely not be willing to create them. There is the pathway of requested articles, though that is very rarely checked, and articles put there are unlikely to be created for a while. If you're looking to create one from scratch, there's quite a lot that goes into creating it; first, you want to determine if the subject of the article is notable. You'll need to find multiple reliable independent secondary sources with significant coverage of the subject. If you cannot find enough sources, then the subject is non-notable and does not deserve an article. Then, draft your article in the draft namespace, and once you've finished, submit it for review via Articles for Creation.

How do I publish a wiki page? Do I finish it first then send it in? or can I do small parts as well. --JammyManBand (talk) 23:06, 19 November 2025 (UTC)

@JammyManBand Hello! Assuming you are talking about articles, you should utilize the Articles for Creation process, which details a system where drafts are sent in and reviewed for issues. Note that there's quite a lot that goes into creating an article; first, you want to determine if its subject is notable. You'll need to find multiple reliable independent secondary sources with significant coverage of the subject. If you cannot find enough sources, then the subject is non-notable and does not deserve an article.
This is all a very involved process, and I recommend you don't start out with creating articles. Wikipedia has many policies on content, and many factors need to be taken into account when writing content. I've put many links on your talk page that should help you get started. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 12:24, 20 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from 123quincyjeeds (19:39, 22 November 2025)

Thanks! I just submitted my first article. Can it really take up to 2 months? --123quincyjeeds (talk) 19:39, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

@123quincyjeeds Hello! Yes, it really can. This usually happens with foreign topics in a language with non-latin script, articles involving conflict of interest (like yours), and borderline notability. I recommend you be patient with the status of your draft, as they are reviewed in no particular order and desperately trying to get it reviewed will not help. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 19:43, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

Articles for Creation backlog drive

Hello Mwwv:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in December!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than half a month of outstanding reviews from the current 2+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 December 2025 through 31 December 2025.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 3000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:07, 23 November 2025 (UTC)

I don’t know

I don’t know Jawad ze0 (talk) 20:42, 23 November 2025 (UTC)

It continues.

(A follow-up to this.)

Despite having a functional WP:DEC25 redirect, @Bunnypranav has also created the Wikipedia:OTHERDEC25 redirect! :-)

To explain the joke: at the previous AfC backlog drive, when WP:JUN25 was already taken by an unrelated backlog drive, mwwv decided to create WP:THEOTHERJUN25 for a bit of fun, it seems. Now even though we've secured WP:DEC25, I assume Bunnypranav created WP:OTHERDEC25 to maintain tradition, maybe without even knowing it. LR.127 (talk) 03:12, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

Ah, of course! Forgotten I’ve made that redirect a while back (thanks Real Life Stresses:tm:) and I’m glad to see them continue the tradition that I started (as a joke, mind you). Through the principle of oneupmanship, it’s now time that I make WP:THECOOLERDEC25. mwwv converseedits 03:57, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
Careful now - believe it or not, too much fun is a bad thing. LR.127 (talk) 04:42, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
You're just gonna have to trust me when I say I'm still WP:HERE. mwwv converseedits 12:39, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
The actual culprit is @Fade258 who created WP:THEOTHERDEC25, after which I shortened it by removing the THE, don't blame me!
Culprit is a joke btw ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 10:02, 24 November 2025 (UTC)
@Bunnypranav. Thanks for the explanation. No worries, since you mentioned it was a joke. I had created that redirect exactly same as created in June 2025 backlog drive. I request you to shortened the title in June 2025 backlog drive as well. Fade258 (talk) 12:31, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Mwwv, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.

This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:

You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! Sohom (talk) 17:11, 28 November 2025 (UTC)

Hello mentor Wiki seems to have become more complicated recently! How do I get to a basic search box so I can learn about everything I used to previously?

@Bassman593 Hello! There isn't anything on Wikipedia exactly like that; I believe the closest thing would be searching through your browser history. Technical news

  • Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
  • Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). Mentor welcome templates

Hi, Mwwv, I notice you have been welcoming mentees since early this year; thanks for that, and bravo! I just signed up as a mentor recently, and found the sole welcome template, {{Mentor welcome}}, wanting. So, I have created {{Welcome mentee}} and started to use that one. Feel free to use it as well, and to make suggestions on its talk page. I am active in the Welcoming committee, and I think we need a selection of mentor templates available to us to choose from; spare ones like {{Welcome}}, graphical ones for some users like {{Welcome to Wikipedia}}, and others. In some cases, it might be sufficient simply to add a mentor or Homepage link to some of the existing templates. So, any ideas you have on this would be appreciated. Also, I only have two mentee questions so far, but I see that you have lots of them. Any tips you can offer would be appreciated, as I expect the volume will start to ramp up as time goes on. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 11:05, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

@Mathglot Thank you for this! I've always found the original mentor template to be very lacking in linkage compared to the other welcoming templates and this definitely addresses that problem.
As for tips to answer mentee questions: follow the principle of WP:Oshwahnism and be nice to everyone, perhaps ping when you answer (i do it just in case, idk if my mentees get notified), and at the very least analyze their initial contributions and respond to them if necessary. You'll 100% be a good mentor, I guarantee it! mwwv converseedits 19:51, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. Since I wrote, I made a change due to a request for a cookies image, so now you can add cookies, a kitten, fruit, tea, and a couple other things. See {{Welcome mentee#Parameters}} for details. Mathglot (talk) 08:54, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Update: I don't know if you've run into this situation, but even if I sit on my dashboard and jump on a new mentee as soon as they are listed, a good part of the time they have already been welcomed by somebody else using a standard welcome template. (This appears to be related to some delay in mentees appearing on the dashboard.) I still want to introduce myself to my mentee, but not with either of the two mentor templates we have now because they are too long and would duplicate a lot of the information in a standard welcome. So, I created {{welcome mentee brief}} for this situation, i.e., to briefly introduce yourself as their mentor. And it even has an option to say, I'd also like to welcome you... so it flows better after the first welcome. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 23:36, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Relisting RfD discussions

Hi! In general, a discussion that doesn't have any comments like Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2025_December_10#Circleboard can be closed as delete (since no one objected, that's a soft consensus) so there's no need to relist. Exceptions include if the nomination statement is unclear (e.g. if they're unsure between delete or retarget), if there's a consideration the nominator didn't take into account (usually significant history behind the redirect), or if it's a particularly thorny case in some other way. Thanks for helping out at RfD! Rusalkii (talk) 19:35, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

@Rusalkii Makes sense. I thought that was mainly an AfD thing though, I've definitely seen no quorum discussions relisted at RfD and I think I haven't seen any soft deletes at venues other than AfD... maybe it was just forgotten about? Either way, I'll keep that in mind for the future. mwwv converseedits 20:44, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

How do i do userboxes like you have?

This is because i want to style my page so it has user boxes to show what to have. Hartfol3 (talk) 13:30, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! There's a big catalog of userboxes over at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Galleries; many of them are divided into categories so you can get specific with what userboxes you would like. For more userboxes that haven't been catalogued, you can do a prefix search for Template:User or User:UBX. You can wrap all of them in the {{userboxtop}} and {{userboxbottom}} templates or use the userbox templates by themselves. If you wish, you can even create userboxes yourself by following the instructions at the documentation of Template:Userbox. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 16:22, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from Dr. Signal (20:17, 27 December 2025)

Hello!

Hey Mwwv, hope all is well. Quick question. How do you approach edits to portion of a page when you don't quite have the time to completely run through the entire thing. I just made my first set of edits to a page about a type of helicopter, but I only had time to work my way through the first few paragraphs. Do you feel there is any impetus to do it all in one sitting or are you generally happy to edit a page in chunks? Any unforeseen advantages of either approach?

Thanks, -Dr. Signal --Dr. Signal (talk) 20:17, 27 December 2025 (UTC)

@Dr. Signal Hello! There are a decent bit of ways to go about this. One is to simply save the edit locally and paste it back into the edit tab when you're ready to work on it again. Another is to place the {{in use}} template on the top of the page to let other editors know not to edit it. And lastly, if the page doesn't get much traffic, you're probably fine not doing anything about it and continuing your work as usual. Hope this helps! mwwv converseedits 15:57, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

How can I put a picture on my page? --Dawn Fountain Of Life Orphanage Africa (talk) 20:12, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

@Dawn Fountain Of Life Orphanage Africa Hello! Images can be added by appending a File: prefix before the image you want to add. For example, if you want to add the file Example.jpg to your user page, you would type [[File:Example.jpg]] on your userpage. On a side note, I would like to note that your username does not comply with our username policy since it implies a role account and thus shared use. If multiple users are using this account, please abandon it and create a new account for everyone involved that only they have access to. If this is not the case, please request a rename. Feedback on article notability

Hi mwwv, I am working on gathering all the citations for the content of the article I am writing about the company I work for. I have divulged that I am working for the company and that I am a paid employee. I want to make sure that the article I am writing is well cited with notable references.

For example, the company that I am writing about did multiple projects with the government through the SBIR program documented here: https://www.sbir.gov/portfolio/248176

The company holds at least 15 patents on their technologies that can be cited and holds multiple security and technology quality and standards certifications from Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) like UL, FM Approvals, Intertek for the U.S., and through international bodies like IECEx and European ones like ATEX for global markets.

The founder of the company co-wrote multiple papers for journals like Nature and IEEE Systems Journal that I can also cite when talking about the company technology that was founded on many of those papers.

Also, Ray Stata, former CEO of Analog Devices, sits on our board of directors and was an initial investor in the company and there is a Wikipedia article about his career (to which I am hoping I can suggest that his investment and board seat to our company can be added).

Please let me know if this content is appropriate for the article. Thanks! SaraHillman (talk) 18:06, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
