I have sent you a note about a page you started
Hi Nythar. Thank you for your work on Heptyl ethanoate. Another editor, MPGuy2824, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
this alternative name should be mentioned in the target page
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|MPGuy2824}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

- @MPGuy2824: It's a rather rare name for that molecule but it's definitely a valid one (see this and this as examples); the issue is that it's the strict systemic name and not the preferred name, so it's rather hard to find it around. For some reason, though, the WikiData item for this molecule doesn't have any alternative names listed, while similar molecules have more than a dozen names at their WD item, including the systemic name. Anyway, I've went ahead and added the alternative name to that article. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 14:36, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Ckingori (09:22, 4 December 2024)
I want to write an article about an organization. Is it possible? --Ckingori (talk) 09:22, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia @Ckingori. It is totally possible to write an article about an organization. First, though, you should start with a draft, where you can take your time building your article and making sure it has all the right parts that would make it good enough to be published. Visit the Article Wizard to start your draft. As you're adding information to your draft, make sure you're also adding reliable sources that are independent of the organization you're writing about. For the structure of the article, you can visit similar articles about organizations, and if you need something more detailed, visit Manual of Style/Layout. Question from Lionking334 (13:35, 6 December 2024)
Hello Nythar! Thank you for the warm welcome and for offering your guidance. I am currently working on creating a Wikipedia biography for one of the artists I manage. If you could please help me with that I would be most grateful. --Lionking334 (talk) 13:35, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Lionking334. I've reviewed the draft Theo Lucas. Overall it appears to be in good condition, but I do have a few recommendations. Firstly, there's language that appears to be somewhat praising, which should be toned down per WP:NPOV. "
The track amassed
" — "received" is usually a better alternative; "Pursuing his talents further
" — "talents" isn't a very neutral term so if I were you I'd remove that part of the sentence. "which has produced notable alumni such as Ed Sheeran and Matty Healy.
" — this associates Theo Lucas with big names in the music industry but is not relevant to his life or career, so it also should be removed. "Style and influences" describes his musical style as "a fusion of electronic dance pop and elements of his Cypriot heritage
" — I would recommend attributing this description to the person/organization that provided the description; for example, something like this: "Lucas's musical style has been described by [insert person/organization name] as a fusion of". Once you've taken care of the issues I pointed out (and other issues, make sure to review the entire article) I'll go over the article again to make sure that it's ready to be published. I should note that the references seem okay but they're not the most solid of sources since they consist mostly of articles focused on very specific updates, so you may encounter some issues while trying to get the draft published, although I don't have much experience with articles about musicians so I'm not too sure. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 18:27, 7 December 2024 (UTC)- Hi Nythar, thank you very much for your detailed feedback. I’ve just made the changes you suggested to the bio. Regarding the phrase "the track amassed," I noticed that I had already used "received" in the same sentence ("The track amassed over 123,000 streams and received strong support from radio stations"). Do you have any suggestions on how I could improve or rephrase this to keep the tone neutral? Many thanks Lionking334 (talk) 21:52, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Nythar, one more question if that's okay. Could you please advise me how I could delete the current draft completely? I would like to create a new one if that's okay. Lionking334 (talk) 00:58, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- I noticed that and I'm not sure what to replace it with either; I'd probably reword the entire sentence and see if something else works to eliminate any POV concerns. Nythar (💬-🍀) 05:30, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from Select Films Assistant (17:21, 12 December 2024)
How do I setup a new page --Select Films Assistant (talk) 17:21, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Select Films Assistant: To set up a new page, create a draft through the Article Wizard. You can either practice creating a draft in your sandbox, or you can click on "Next" and follow the steps to create a draft in the "draftspace". Once you've chosen the draft's name, proceed to insert the article's contents, splitting them into different sections using headings: ==Heading name here==. Question from Abubakarinfinkey (07:03, 10 December 2024)
Hi, thanks your response i first time on wikipedia use as writing I wanna learn how to write on Wikipedia and how know about wikipedia thanks abubakar --Abubakarinfinkey (talk) 07:03, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Abubakarinfinkey. Here are some helpful links for new editors when getting started: Help:Getting started and Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia. You could start off by making simple edits. For example, adding information to articles supported by good sources, with the URL of a source placed between
<ref></ref>tags. You could also copyedit articles to make their English sound better. Let me know if you need more specific info. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 22:03, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Danstickz (10:36, 11 December 2024)
hello, I've started writing article on science and food production you can check on it if there is any mistake, though I'm not done with the article. thanks --Danstickz (talk) 10:36, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia @Danstickz. Firstly, your draft is unsourced except for a single source. You're going to need more sources. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the draft doesn't seem to actually be focused on "food production", and for the most part it appears to be defining and discussing things that are outside the topic's scope. For example, "DEFINITION OF FOOD" and "SCIENCE" appear to be discussing things that are not related to food production. Thirdly, I'm not sure if it's appropriate to include this kind of article in an encyclopedia in the first place, at least in its current state. "SCIENCE AND FOOD PRODUCTION", as a concept, is simply too broad and undefined. If we're dealing with specific types of food production, like Fermentation in winemaking, relevant scientific facts on fermentation's role in winemaking can be found in the #Process section. If you want this draft to be published, you'll need to work on adding general information on how science is used in different types of food production. And you'll need to be specific: "
Science helps to produce healthy food so as to avoid malnutrition, diseases, organ disorder
" -- what branch of science? If it's GM foods, add something about that. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 22:44, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mumber Glump (18:38, 13 December 2024)
I tried to update a source with an archived link but I'm not sure I did it correctly. Source 3 in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peche_Island --Mumber Glump (talk) 18:38, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Mumber Glump: It was a date issue; you added "Dec 4, 2024" to the archive-date parameter but the archive was made on 10 September 2023. I've fixed it. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:34, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Pugpa2 (12:42, 14 December 2024)
Hello I have been looking at the graphs on a page that interest me, however they have not been updated for over 8 months, the previous editor ( according to talk page) is no longer able to maintain them. My question is, are there any templates or models for graphs that are available on Wikipeadia that I might use to refresh this data. Article in Question is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_on_Scottish_independence --Pugpa2 (talk) 12:42, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Pugpa2. If you're referring to the line graph, unfortunately there are no templates at Wikipedia that can be used to update it. You'll need to do that using a graph creator, although there might be a way to update it manually, but the graph is a .pdf being used as an image (which is not something I would normally do) so I'm a bit confused myself to be honest. Regards Nythar (💬-🍀) 16:45, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Danstickz (17:43, 18 December 2024)
Hello, this is the link to the article i worked on, i want your opinion on it. --Danstickz (talk) 17:43, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Danstickz, if you're referring to Draft:THE PLACE RESTAURANT, you should know that there's no chance that draft's getting published. It isn't even obvious if the article is about a restaurant called "The Place" or simply a general article about restaurants (which we have here: Restaurant). Please take my advice from this comment before creating more drafts. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 08:46, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Tristan-Hopewell (18:12, 17 December 2024)
How much editing, and time spent on Wikipedia do you advise before you start writing articles? For example, how long did you spend editing before you began producing articles? I definitely would like to eventually start writing articles but I'd like to get a good foundation. Thank you very much in advance. --Tristan-Hopewell (talk) 18:12, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Tristan-Hopewell. I would say at least a month of making edits to random pages and figuring out how Wikipedia works, although there's no specific minimum amount of time that I am confident would allow an editor to gain enough experience to create high quality articles. For me personally, it took about 5 months to create my first article, but by that time I had a lot of experience from almost daily editing (and I would have created an article sooner if I had a notable subject in mind). In my opinion, the simplest route is to learn how to create a draft (see the Article Wizard) and then learn how to determine whether the subject of the draft passes the general notability guideline and is notable enough to have an entire article dedicated to it. Once you have these two things figured out, I'd recommend learning how to structure an article and add references. If you need to, visit the pages of similar subjects to figure this out; that's what I did when I started creating articles. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 09:58, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Speed Darlington21 (14:48, 21 December 2024)
What is sporty bet? --Speed Darlington21 (talk) 14:48, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Speed Darlington21, I believe you are referring to sports betting, which is described in the Wikipedia article as "the activity of predicting sports results and placing a wager on the outcome." Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 17:12, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Question from Mizta keyz Gh on Social login (10:57, 29 December 2024)
how do I create citation --Mizta keyz Gh (talk) 10:57, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Mizta keyz Gh, to add a citation for a source, you could do something as simple as wrapping the URL of, say, a website, between
<ref></ref>tags. If you need to read more on this topic, I'd recommend visiting the page Wikipedia:Citing sources, because creating a citation can become a complicated issue depending on the type of source. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 11:23, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Question from Samppy (07:37, 4 January 2025)
Hello l wish to delete my article please tell me how.🙏 --Samppy (talk) 07:37, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Samppy, here is a list of speedy deletion templates: Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion/Deletion templates. Add a template to the top of a page and an admin will review it to see if it's eligible for deletion. For instance, if you want to delete a page you created, add the template
{{db-g7}}to the top of the page. If your page isn't eligible for deletion under any of the speedy deletion criteria, let me know and I'll explain your other options. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 08:11, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – January 2025
News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2024).
- Following an RFC, Wikipedia:Notability (species) was adopted as a subject-specific notability guideline.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether admins should be advised to warn users rather than issue no-warning blocks to those who have posted promotional content outside of article space.
- The Nuke feature also now provides links to the userpage of the user whose pages were deleted, and to the pages which were not selected for deletion, after page deletions are queued. This enables easier follow-up admin-actions.
- Following the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been elected to the Arbitration Committee: CaptainEek, Daniel, Elli, KrakatoaKatie, Liz, Primefac, ScottishFinnishRadish, Theleekycauldron, Worm That Turned.

Question from Domeneco738 on Draft:Tim Cooper, computer scientist (10:29, 5 January 2025)
Hello. I'd like to keep working on this draft and make it good enough to submit. Which references do I need to improve? Can you help me understand what sources some common sources are that will meet an acceptable standard? --Domeneco738 (talk) 10:29, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Domeneco738, sorry about the late response. It seems that the reviewer who declined your draft noted that it was "
not adequately supported by reliable sources
." I'll go through the sources in order (draft archived for future reference). The first source is a primary source directly from the UK government. This kind of source is unlikely to contribute to the notability of the subject too well. The second source is from "SkedGo", and the page states that "Tim co-founded SkedGo," making the source non-independent. The third source is a duplicate of the first source. The fourth source doesn't mention Cooper, so it doesn't contribute to his notability. The fifth source doesn't mention the name "Tim Cooper." Neither does the sixth source. The seventh source is a duplicate of the fourth source. The eighth source is paywalled so I don't know what it contains (not very good for demonstrating notability to Wikipedia's draft reviewers). The ninth source doesn't mention Cooper. The tenth source is a corporate news article published by Tes, which acquired a company founded by Cooper (making the source non-independent), and it reads like a promo piece. The eleventh source doesn't mention Cooper. The twelfth source mentions "Tim Cooper" once as the husband of the subject of that article. You should work on improving the sourcing before resubmitting the draft for review. Let me know if you need any help during that process. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 10:10, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from Random editor 32165 on Workers' Party (France, 1991–2008) (16:34, 14 January 2025)
Hello mentor, I have a question that is how to find correct news articles for citations? --Random editor 32165 (talk) 16:34, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Random editor 32165, you can find a list of reliable/unreliable sources at WP:RSP. Sources that aren't included in this list aren't considered officially reliable or unreliable on Wikipedia, so you'll have to evaluate those as you go along. Let me know if you need help analyzing sources. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 09:35, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from Metalcupcake5 (08:05, 16 January 2025)
when making multiple small edits, is it preferred to submit each edit individually or all at once? --Metalcupcake5 (talk) 08:05, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Metalcupcake5, spreading out what could be a few trivial changes to an article that likely only take a minute or so to make, into several edits, could flood a page's history and could be seen as gaming the system in an attempt to illegitimately gain higher permissions (which are granted when a user makes a certain minimum number of edits). My advice is if the edits are very minor, try combining them together, but if they're more significant, feel free to save them as multiple edits. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 09:21, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- got it, thanks! Metalcupcake5 (talk) 11:27, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
Question from Mumber Glump (18:29, 22 January 2025)
I recently revised an edit that was incorrect. Looking back would an "undo" have been the better way to do that?

- @Mumber Glump, I'd say an undo might have been a good idea because the snowfall at the New Orleans airport likely isn't related enough to the death toll of 9 (meaning two separate sentences were probably a good idea). Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 23:52, 22 January 2025 (UTC)

Talk: Donald Trump lead discussion
Hi Nythar,
I’d like to encourage you to take a moment to review my argument regarding the "F" proposal. For years, the current structure has been thoughtfully considered and has served readers well. My concern isn’t about preference but about preserving a phrasing that provides clarity and fulfills its purpose effectively. So far, I haven’t seen a strong explanation for why this change is necessary, and I think it’s worth reflecting on whether it truly adds value.
If you haven’t already, I’d also recommend checking out what User:Gluonz has added in the comments about previous discussions under Joe Biden’s page regarding this same topic. I think their input provides valuable context that’s worth considering.
I’d appreciate your thoughts on my argument. I’m confident we all share the goal of serving readers in the best way possible, and I hope my perspective helps inform the discussion. TimeToFixThis (talk) 03:42, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter
The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.
Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Gog the Mild (submissions) with 1,168 round points, mainly from 4 featured articles and 4 good articles on old military history, in addition to an assortment of GA and FA reviews.
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,095 round points, mainly from 2 FAs, 2 featured lists, 8 GAs, and 16 Did You Know articles mainly on historical topics.
BeanieFan11 (submissions), with 866 round points from 20 GAs, 23 DYKs, and 2 In the News articles primarily about athletes.
Sammi Brie (submissions), with 846 round points from 16 GAs about radio and TV stations, 45 GA reviews, and 3 DYKs.
Hey man im josh (submissions), with 816 round points from 5 FLs about sports and Olympic topics, 46 FL reviews, 3 ITN articles, and a large number of bonus points.
MaranoFan (submissions), with 815 round points primarily from 3 FAs and 1 GA about music, in addition to 9 article reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! Administrators' newsletter – March 2025

- A request for comment is open to discuss whether AI-generated images (meaning those wholly created by generative AI, not human-created images modified with AI tools) should be banned from use in articles.
- A series of 22 mini-RFCs that double-checked consensus on some aspects and improved certain parts of the administrator elections process has been closed (see the summary of the changes).
- A request for comment is open to gain consensus on whether future administrator elections should be held.
- A new filter has been added to the Special:Nuke tool, which allows administrators to filter for pages in a range of page sizes (in bytes). This allows, for example, deleting pages only of a certain size or below. T378488
- Non-administrators can now check which pages are able to be deleted using the Special:Nuke tool. T376378

Question from Anna Palmer (13:48, 4 March 2025)
How do I name my new wikipedia page? --Anna Palmer (talk) 13:48, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Anna Palmer, you can use the Article Wizard to create a draft. During that process, you'll be given the opportunity to name your draft. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 02:53, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Prof. Dr. Sazzad Hossain (20:56, 7 March 2025)
How I can write a good article --Prof. Dr. Sazzad Hossain (talk) 20:56, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Prof. Dr. Sazzad Hossain, Wikipedia:Article structure is a good start if you want to learn about structuring articles appropriately. Writing a high-quality article is no easy thing, unfortunately, so let me know if you need more specific advice. I'd be happy to help. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 02:56, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Stevenscreek1987 (16:38, 27 February 2025)
Our page has been speedily deleted. How do we get it back? --Stevenscreek1987 (talk) 16:38, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Stevenscreek1987, it appears that your page is located here: Draft:Stevens Creek Church. Let me know if you need anything else. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 17:56, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- How can we get it out of draft now? I've published substantial changes....do I have to wait 4 days now to publish it officially? Stevenscreek1987 (talk) 21:25, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Stevenscreek1987, to submit your draft for review, place this template at the very top:
{{AfC submission}}. However, your submission will very likely be declined, at least while the article is in its current state. I'll explain the issues. One major problem with this draft is the fact that it reads like a list of accomplishments of Stevens Creek Church, and a lot of the language used in the draft lacks neutrality. For example, "has a strong focus on small group discipleship
", "has built a powerful and influential music and arts ministry
", "volunteers who sacrifice their time and talents
", "Stevens Creek Church continues to be a leader in modern church engagement
", "gained national and global attention for pioneering digital giving technologies
" -- this language is not suitable for entries at Wikipedia. Another issue is that the draft's structure is not ideal. Generally, prose is favored over lists. I would recommend visiting the articles of similar churches and using their structures to rewrite your draft. The third issue involves the sources used in the article. YouTube is not considered to be a good source, and sources that are not independent of the subject (i.e., publications on the church's website and publications on websites belonging to associated organizations) are not likely to strengthen any argument that Stevens Creek Church is notable according to Wikipedia's general notability guideline. Sources should also display significant coverage of Stevens Creek Church; elsewise, they do not contribute to the subject's notability. If you want to get the draft published, I recommend that you spend some time improving the draft by restructuring it, removing unnecessary fluff, and using independent, high-quality sources, then I'll update my analysis. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 03:17, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Itsjdsami (10:45, 10 March 2025)
hi I Want To Publish About My Book --Itsjdsami (talk) 10:45, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Itsjdsami, to create a draft, visit the Article Wizard and follow the instructions on that page. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 02:29, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Pugpa2 (05:47, 27 February 2025)
Good morning If you have the time I could do with some advice. Recently created and published a draft article, which has been declined for lack of citations, I am confused as it is stuffed full of links to independent and reliable sources. Granted they are not in the 'reference' format but changing these links to that format would IMHO make the article less engaging and less user friendly, it is also consistent with other polling in uk articles. --Pugpa2 (talk) 05:47, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry for my late response. I believe you are referring to Draft:Polling in Scotland. I believe you got the advice you needed from KylieTastic. Nythar (💬-🍀) 02:36, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Scott d Stewart on User:Scott d Stewart (09:37, 25 March 2025)
Trying to publish this page --Scott d Stewart (talk) 09:37, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Scott d Stewart, to submit your draft for review, place this template at the very top:
{{AfC submission}}. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 11:45, 25 March 2025 (UTC)- I do not understand Scott d Stewart (talk) 13:19, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Scott d Stewart, before a page or draft is published into the mainspace, where it becomes an "article", it first has to be reviewed to ensure that it would be an encyclopedically acceptable entry. When you place that template at the top of your page, it gets added to a category of pages that need reviewing. To place the template on your page, you'll have to use the source editor view, instead of the normal visual editor view. Let me know if you need help doing this. Nythar (💬-🍀) 13:59, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- ok I think I did this. How long does it take before someone checks it? Scott d Stewart (talk) 21:16, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- I think I am going to give up trying to learn how this site works. I am not really tech like this site requires. This was my first attempt....but man...seems like everything I did was wrong Scott d Stewart (talk) 21:33, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Normally it shouldn't take more than a few months, although now it looks like someone is getting the page deleted as a "promotional article" (archived). That's related to the WP:PROMO policy on promotional articles. Nythar (💬-🍀) 22:04, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- I don't intend it to be promotional, I thought it was done properly and I do not know how to rewrite it, Can someone redo it so it passes, or is it a lost cause? Please give me your honest answer...if it is hopeless, tell me Thanks.. Scott d Stewart (talk) 22:08, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Scott d Stewart, the sourcing isn't strong since the two sources used (besides Ellianos' website) are regular news articles that don't contain a significant amount of coverage of Ellianos Coffee Company. From my experience with these kinds of articles, I don't think it would be accepted by Wikipedia reviewers, so my honest answer is that it probably won't get published into an article. Nythar (💬-🍀) 23:15, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Ok. Thank you for the honest reply Scott d Stewart (talk) 03:00, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'll also note that the author had conflict of interest writing about their own company, and also was likely unaware of how Wikipedia defines a notable company. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:27, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Ok. Thank you for the honest reply Scott d Stewart (talk) 03:00, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Square Spiral (09:36, 28 March 2025)
Hi Nythar, nice to meet you! I would be happy to learn from your experience. Could you please give some tips/suggestions on adding the reliable sources. How do you normally look for those? --Square Spiral (talk) 09:36, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Square Spiral, sorry about the delay. Firstly, generally speaking, when searching for sources, look for secondary sources instead of primary sources. E.g., a Reuters article instead of a tweet. Secondly, self-published sources, such as a company discussing itself, are best avoided. Lastly, to identify these characteristics from a list of sources (possibly obtained from a Google search), I suggest analyzing a source using the CRAAP test. Let me know if you have other questions. Question from Third Payne Jakob (08:42, 2 April 2025)
Hello, how do I upload my information about myself --Third Payne Jakob (talk) 08:42, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Third Payne Jakob, you could simply add information to your userpage, located at User:Third Payne Jakob. I see you've done that already and it has since gotten deleted. Per the userpage guideline WP:UPYES, your userpage may contain only a limited amount of autobiographical content. So, no excessive autobiographical information or anything promotional. WikiCup 2025 May newsletter
The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.
Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:
BeanieFan11 (submissions) with 1,233 round points from 24 good articles, 28 Did you know articles, and one In the news nomination, mainly about athletes and politicians
Thebiguglyalien (submissions) with 1,127 round points, almost entirely from two high-multiplier featured articles on Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) and Grace Coolidge, in addition to two GAs and two reviews
History6042 (submissions) with 1,088 round points from four featured lists about Michelin-starred restaurants, nine good articles and a good topic mostly on Olympic-related subjects, seven ITN articles, and dozens of reviews
Gog the Mild (submissions) with 1,085 round points from three FAs, one GA, and four DYKs on military history, as well as 18 reviews
Arconning (submissions) with 887 round points, mostly from four FLs, six GAs, and seven DYKs on Olympic topics, along with more than two dozen reviews
In addition, we would like to recognize
Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.
The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
Administrators' newsletter – June 2025
News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2025).
- An RfC is open to determine whether the English Wikipedia community should adopt a position on AI development by the WMF and its affiliates.
- A new feature called Multiblocks will be deployed on English Wikipedia on the week of June 2. See the relevant announcement on the administrators' noticeboard.
- History merges performed using the mergehistory special page are now logged at both the source and destination, rather than just the source as previously, after this RFC and the resolution of T118132.
- An arbitration case named Indian military history has been opened. Evidence submissions for this case close on 8 June.
- Voting for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) election is open until 17 June 2025. Read the voting page on Meta-Wiki and cast your vote here!
- An Articles for Creation backlog drive is happening in June 2025, with over 1,600 drafts awaiting review from the past two months. In addition to AfC participants, all administrators and new page patrollers can help review using the Yet Another AFC Helper Script, which can be enabled in the Gadgets settings. Sign up here to participate!
- The Unreferenced articles backlog drive is happening in June 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles tagged with {{Unreferenced}}. You can help reduce the backlog by adding citations to these articles. Sign up to participate!
WP:NOTCENSORED vs. WP:F***
Which do we follow? 108.160.120.113 (talk) 00:49, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- The former. The word "fuck" displayed in that context is not offensive. Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:51, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- This is controversial. Would removing the word here change the meaning significantly? I'd argue not. "Material that could be considered vulgar, obscene, or offensive should not be included unless it is treated in an encyclopedic manner. Offensive material should be used only if its omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternative is available." Therefore I argue that the content shouldn't be included. 108.160.120.113 (talk) 00:54, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- This isn't controversial from my experience. Unnecessarily placing an image of someone's genitals on the main page is one thing (see WP:F***). But we can't just replace the letters of the word "fuck" with asterisks because some people would be offended by it, especially since we're quoting it. If we're going to include the quote, we have to include the whole thing, uncensored. Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:59, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2025).
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
- Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.
- Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.
- The arbitration case Indian military history has been closed.
- South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. The topic area is specifically defined as
All pages related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups.
- The contentious topic designations for Sri Lanka (SL) and India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (IPA) are folded into this new contentious topic.
- The community-authorized general sanctions regarding South Asian social groups (GS/CASTE) are rescinded and folded into this new contentious topic.

- The arbitration case Article titles and capitalisation 2 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 31 July.
- The arbitration case Transgender healthcare and people has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 11 August.

Question from Blackgirlmighty (17:33, 9 August 2025)
Hello..I'm having issues with knowing how to move my articles in sandbox to drafts..to create a space for other articles i want to create on sandbox for review...or can i just create them as draft on article wizard..? I am not that bad for a beginner --Blackgirlmighty (talk) 17:33, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Blackgirlmighty: You can submit your drafts for review directly from your sandbox; just paste this template at the very top of the page:
{{AfC submission}}. If you want to free up your sandbox to use it for other drafts, simply move your current sandbox fromUser:Blackgirlmighty/sandbox
toUser:Blackgirlmighty/Koleka_Mlisana
and then recreate your sandbox as a new page. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 22:07, 9 August 2025 (UTC)- Appreciated Blackgirlmighty (talk) 22:24, 9 August 2025 (UTC)

- @Blackgirlmighty: You moved the draft to User:Blackgirlmighty/Koleka Mlisana, so that's good. Of course when you move a page, a redirect is created at the page with the old title, so I've gone ahead and cleared your sandbox. Now you can add the

Question from Lthomp99 (13:33, 13 August 2025)
hey Nythar, I'd like to add https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ifm_group to the disambiguation page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFM. Instinctively I though to add it under the 'Organisations' heading, but checking the German disambiguation page https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFM it's listed under 'ifm' in all lower case, separate from 'IFM' in all caps. Is this just a quirk of German Wikipedia or should I replicate it for the English disambiguation page? --Lthomp99 (talk) 13:33, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Lthomp99:, it seems the main (English) article is located at ifm group, all lower. I don't see any reason you can't add it to IFM, and use all lowers in your link. As for the German disambig page and the separate section for caps vs. non-caps (IFM/ifm), that would be a question for the Wikipedians there. - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:42, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- I've added ifm group to the disambiguation page now, thanks for the clarification! Lthomp99 (talk) 18:30, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
WikiCup 2025 September newsletter
The fourth round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 29 August. The penultimate round saw three contestants score more than 800 points:
BeanieFan11 (submissions) with 1,175 round points, mainly from sports-related articles, including 17 good articles, 27 did you know articles, and 9 in the news articles
Arconning (submissions) with 1,090 round points, mainly from articles about athletes and politicians, including a featured article on Philippines at the 1924 Summer Olympics, 9 good articles, 28 did you know articles, and a wide assortment of featured and good article reviews
AirshipJungleman29 (submissions) with 854 round points, mostly from a high-scoring featured article on the Indian leader Rani of Jhansi and two good articles, in addition to 13 featured and good article reviews
Everyone who competed in Round 4 will advance to Round 5 unless they have withdrawn. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far, while the full scores for Round 4 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 9 featured articles, 12 featured lists, 98 good articles, 9 good topic articles, more than 150 reviews, nearly 100 did you know articles, and 18 in the news articles.
In advance of the fifth and final round, the judges would like to thank every contestant for their hard work. As a reminder, any content promoted after 29 August but before the start of Round 5 can be claimed in Round 5. In addition, note that Round 5 will end on 31 October at 23:59 UTC. Awards at the end of Round 5 will be distributed based on who has the most tournament points over all five rounds, and special awards will be distributed based on high performance in particular areas of content creation (e.g., most featured articles in a single round).
Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges – Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), Frostly (talk · contribs), Guerillero (talk · contribs) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs) – are reachable on their talk pages. Question from PRSusie on Draft:John Nasukaluk Clare (22:21, 3 September 2025)
hi Nythar! I hope you're having a lovely day! I am trying to figure out how to submit my draft for review, and I'm not sure how to do that. AI says to add {{AfC submission|||ts=20250903222122|u=PRSusie|ns=3}} to the top of the page - does that work? Do I insert a paragraph above the leading paragraph with that for feedback? (I've been staring at the screen for a long time today and the answer is probably right in front of me haha). Anyway, thanks! --PRSusie (talk) 22:21, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, all you need to do is post that template at the top of your draft. Just remember to subst it (you want to actually type {{subst:submit|...) so that the markup is created. And be warned, it looks like there is quite a backlog of articles waiting to be reviewed, like 2,100 right now, so it could take a moment before you actually get reviewed. - Adolphus79 (talk) 22:46, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- @PRSusie: basically all you have to do is replace
{{AfC submission/draft}}with{{AfC submission}}. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 16:42, 4 September 2025 (UTC)- I didn't even notice that in the template on the article, that's even easier! Good afternoon..Can you please help me to clear my sandbox..everytime i get there there is always Eliane Ubalijoro --Blackgirlmighty (talk) 10:41, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

Question from PRSusie (15:45, 18 September 2025)
Hi again! I have one more quick question before submitting my article. Another user wrote to ensure that I didn't need to file a COI to submit this particular article, based on the fact that my user name and email are affiliated with a publicity agency. I have not been paid to create this article, nor is the subject a client of mine. I learned of a well known broadcaster in the realm of classical music (my industry) who is not accounted for here (but should be), and I have always wanted to write one of these so decided to try my hand at it!
I did not, however, look at all of the guidelines ahead of time, and I reached out to the subject to let him know I was writing this and make sure that the facts I had gathered (from third party sources) were accurate. I have since gone into my draft article and DELETED any information I learned that could be considered "original research." Do you think I need to complete a Conflict of Interest statement prior to submitting and explain this? If so, can I add the statement after my draft has already been completed?
Thanks - I'm an overly honest person and want to make sure everything is above board! -Susie --PRSusie (talk) 15:45, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- That's me, I'm the meanie! (haha) Honestly, if you do not have a COI, there is no need to announce that you don't. If you want to leave a simple note on the talk page, you can say that you spoke with the subject of the article as you were creating it, but that none of the unverifiable content has been included (there may even be a template for that somewhere). As for your draft, I noticed your edit there before here, and am satisfied that my concerns were addressed. As for the submission to article space, that is now up to an AFC reviewer, which I am not. I'm just one of the annoying little gremlins that run around here randomly checking on punctuation and grammar and refs and other stuff. Good luck on your future here, I think you will make a great addition to the project! - Adolphus79 (talk) 17:56, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

[[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.

Welcome to the 2026 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2026 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here, and a bot will set up your submissions page within one day, ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2026 WikiCup, the highest-ranking contestants will receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. This is the same scoring system that we had last year. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants are no longer eliminated at the end of each round.
- Due to the result of a recent motion, a rough consensus of administrators at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard may impose an expanded topic ban on Israel, Israelis, Jews, Judaism, Palestine, Palestinians, Islam, and/or Arabs, if an editor's Arab-Israeli conflict topic ban is determined to be insufficient to prevent disruption. At least one diff per area expanded into should be cited.
- Voting in the 2026 Steward elections started on 06 February 2026 at 14:00 (UTC) and will end on 27 February 2026 at 14:00 (UTC). The confirmation process for current stewards is being held in parallel. You can automatically check your eligibility to vote.
WikiCup 2026 March newsletter
The first round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As some of you may have noticed, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. This point increase has been retroactively applied to all good article reviews for which competitors have claimed points in this round. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 1 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 300 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Bgsu98 (submissions) with 1,467 round points, largely gained from 1 featured article, 5 featured lists, 15 good articles, and 42 FAC and GAN reviews;
Olliefant (submissions) with 1,246 round points, largely from 4 featured lists, 9 good articles, 2 featured topic articles, 4 did you know articles, and 75 FAC and GAN reviews;
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,095 round points, largely from 3 featured articles, 6 good articles, and 5 did you know articles;
MCE89 (submissions) with 848 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 32 FAC and GAN reviews; and
Rollinginhisgrave (submissions) with 838 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 14 FAC, GAN, and peer reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 7 featured articles, 16 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 168 good articles, 13 good-topic articles and more than 50 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 14 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 700 reviews. The tournament points table will be updated within the next few days.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
