how to fight edit wars --Zaptain United (talk) 18:28, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Zaptain United and welcome to Wikipedia! You should not edit war with other editors. Doing so will result in a block. Instead, you should start a discussion on the article's talk page if you disagree with an edit or revert. Relativity ⚡️ 17:24, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
Question from Danna.lee.walker (17:35, 13 August 2025)
Can you change a photo to watercolor --Danna.lee.walker (talk) 17:35, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Danna.lee.walker! I'm assuming you mean adding a watercolor filter to an image used on a Wikipedia article, correct me if I'm wrong. Usually the best practice is to keep the image as-is, especially in this case, but you can start a discussion on the article's talk page if you think this would be an improvement. Question from BAPitts (19:54, 23 August 2025)
Yesterday I spent 4 hours editing the article 'Brazil, Indiana'. I saved after each group of edits, which were extensive. Then, after 4 hours, the article reverted to its original form, and I received a message from the wikibot. This was extremely discouraging Can you tell me why my work was undone? --BAPitts (talk) 19:54, 23 August 2025 (UTC)
- @BAPitts: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! That bot tries to revert obvious vandalism, but sometimes it catches edits that aren't actually vandalism. It probably reverted you because you removed large chunks of text and replaced it with something else. You are free to restore your edit, but I suggest chunking the edits up a bit to make your edits a bit easier to review. Sorry about the wait. Let me know if you have any further questions! Question from Mmackenzie17 (17:43, 26 August 2025)
Hello. I work for a media company that owns several magazine brands. Some of them have Wikipedia pages and some don't. One of my tasks is to update the existing brand pages and create new ones for others. How do I go about doing that? --Mmackenzie17 (talk) 17:43, 26 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Mmackenzie17: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! You should read this essay—it's going to go into more detail and might explain what I'm about to say better than I will here. You are being paid for your work, so you are a paid editor. This means you are going to have to follow stringent policies to be able to edit about your company. First, you must disclose your paid editing. To do this, use this link to create your userpage, then add
to it (filling out the "your employer here") field. Then, if you plan to edit an existing article about your company, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Edit requests. To create an article, read Your First Article very carefully and create a draft at the WP:Article Wizard. If you need any more specific information, feel free to let me know, or you might get a faster response at our forum for newer users. Happy editing! Relativity ⚡️ 02:01, 27 August 2025 (UTC)

Draft:Quantum computing formulations with time, density, and velocity
Thanks!
Harold Foppele (talk) 15:43, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Harold Foppele, welcome to Wikipedia. I haven't read through the article very thoroughly, but there are two major problems that stand out to me: a) it's very confusing to a non-expert and b) you haven't shown us why this subject is suitable for a Wikipedia article. I'm sure you know what the "standard time-evolution operator" and "unitary evolution with environment-dependent contributions" is, but I don't, and I doubt most people would know either. Try to explain the concept in simple terms and use double brackets around a word or a term to link a relevant Wikipedia article, like this, to clarify more specific terms.
- The bigger problem, though, is that you haven't given us multiple independent, reliable, and published sources with significant coverage of the subject that show us that quantum computing formulations with time, density, and velocity is notable. Right now, I don't think your sources are going to be enough to prove this is a notable subject. Wikipedia is not a reliable source because it relies on user-generated content. The source from the Journal of Statistical Physics might be okay (I can't tell if it talks a lot about your topic; again I am not an expert at physics or its terminology), but I don't think the other article is going to work. Anyone can publish an article on that website you got it from, and the article is not associated with a reputable journal, so we have no idea if proper peer review was performed. To prove that the topic is notable, you'll have to find some sources that meet the criteria I listed above. I suggest asking for help with this at WikiProject Physics, since the members there will know more about physics than I do. I hope this helps, and happy editing Relativity ⚡️ 01:10, 27 August 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 September newsletter
The fourth round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 29 August. The penultimate round saw three contestants score more than 800 points:
BeanieFan11 (submissions) with 1,175 round points, mainly from sports-related articles, including 17 good articles, 27 did you know articles, and 9 in the news articles
Arconning (submissions) with 1,090 round points, mainly from articles about athletes and politicians, including a featured article on Philippines at the 1924 Summer Olympics, 9 good articles, 28 did you know articles, and a wide assortment of featured and good article reviews
AirshipJungleman29 (submissions) with 854 round points, mostly from a high-scoring featured article on the Indian leader Rani of Jhansi and two good articles, in addition to 13 featured and good article reviews
Everyone who competed in Round 4 will advance to Round 5 unless they have withdrawn. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far, while the full scores for Round 4 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 9 featured articles, 12 featured lists, 98 good articles, 9 good topic articles, more than 150 reviews, nearly 100 did you know articles, and 18 in the news articles.
In advance of the fifth and final round, the judges would like to thank every contestant for their hard work. As a reminder, any content promoted after 29 August but before the start of Round 5 can be claimed in Round 5. In addition, note that Round 5 will end on 31 October at 23:59 UTC. Awards at the end of Round 5 will be distributed based on who has the most tournament points over all five rounds, and special awards will be distributed based on high performance in particular areas of content creation (e.g., most featured articles in a single round).
Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Question from MamaAnarkhia (03:31, 2 September 2025)
so like, let's say there's a quote ending with an inside punctuation mark, and an outside comma, i.e. blah blah, "Blah, Blah!", blah blah. do I remove the punctuation and add a comma, or is it fine? --MamaAnarkhia (talk) 03:31, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- @MamaAnarkhia: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! It depends. Usually, if the punctuation inside of the quotation marks is a period, you change it into a comma. For example, if the original quote is "He was running down the street." then you'd change it to After Bob encountered the monster, Bob was spotted by a bystander. "He was running down the street," said the witness.
- But if your quote uses punctuation that is not a period, then you should keep the original punctuation mark. Example: After Bob encountered the monster, Bob was spotted by a bystander. "I think he was running down the street?" said the witness. or After Bob encountered the monster, Bob was spotted by a bystander. "He was running as fast as he could down the street!" said the witness.

Dear Relativity I am new to wikipeida so I wouild like some tips on how should I edit articles professionally and look for good sources to back up the wording? --Teatimenew (talk) 18:31, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Teatimenew: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! When you're trying to add information to an article, the best practice is to start by finding sources first—and then using the information from the sources you found to add to the article. To find out what kind of sources we like to use for our articles, you can look here.
- Adding information to articles is an area of Wikipedia that we need more volunteers for, and I'm glad you're interested in it. Hello Relativity:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Editathon event in October 2025!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2025, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) editathon event with the theme What Women Do! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 different occupations or professions (or broader roles in society) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

Hi I see you are listed as my mentor and I had a question. I posted to the Arcadia, CA page this source code: ==Politics==
| Year | Republican | Democratic | Third party(ies) | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| No. | % | No. | % | No. | % | |
| 2024 | 9,384 | 42.83% | 11,757 | 53.66% | 770 | 3.51% |
| 2020 | 9,603 | 38.58% | 14,831 | 59.58% | 457 | 1.84% |
| 2016 | 6,850 | 37.58% | 10,379 | 56.93% | 1,001 | 5.49% |
| 2012 | 9,219 | 48.35% | 9,431 | 49.46% | 418 | 2.19% |
| 2008 | 10,191 | 48.36% | 10,372 | 49.21% | 512 | 2.43% |
Arcadia has voted Democrat by narrow to solid margins from 2008-2024. There was a large shift to the Democrats from 2008-2016, which had partially rebounded by 2024. [1]
I noticed I would publish it and then when I'd check later it would disappear. I reposted it twice because I thought maybe I had forgotten to publish it or it was taken down by mistake. After the second repost it was taken down again and a user wrote on like my page that I didn't have a reliable source. I was confused what he meant. The source is .gov and is where I got the data in the results chart and the text is also just a written summary of what I saw in the data. I think he thought that I had no source for the data in the chart, but I just put it below the text since it was for both of them.
I'm not sure what I have to do to get it published. I asked him but I thought it was kind of rude that he just posted that on my page with no warning and doesn't explain what he means by unreliable. Sorry I am new and worried he is going to gate keep the page and I suck at code haha. It also made me kind of ticked because it took me a long time to get the data together and I double checked every number as I wrote them into a sheet and then into a template. I feel like I can just use the same source template but add it too the chart too? Or maybe I need to do a sperate source for each document, as the url I cited is a page with links to each respective document.
Thanks for your time.
- @11redharry: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!
- In this case, the issue with your edit was that you linked to a website that contains a long list of documents, but didn't link to the specific document where the information came from. In the future, make sure to link to the specific document, not just the broader website.
- Also, be careful when drawing conclusions from multiple sources. From what you wrote on your user talk page, it sounds like (correct me if I’m wrong) you took information from several of those documents to draw a conclusion on how the people of Arcadia voted. That might be considered synthesis, which isn't allowed on Wikipedia. Synthesis is when you combine facts from different sources to make a conclusion that none of the sources make explicitly. We just want to know what the sources explicitly say.
- If you ever get a warning and don’t understand why (which is frustrating), you can ask the person who left it by replying to the warning and starting your message with
USERNAMEto notify them. You can also ask questions at our forum for new users, or contact me here (though the forum might get you a faster response since there are people there pretty much all the time). - If you're having trouble editing in the source editor (what you called "code"), you might find the Visual Editor easier. You don’t need to know wiki markup to use it.
- I tried to explain everything as clearly as I could, but let me know if anything’s still confusing. Happy editing! Relativity ⚡️ 22:37, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Awesome thank you. I'll leave out the text as it sounds like I was synthesizing which is not allowed. I'm going to put it back up with a ref citation to each source, eg 2024= [2]. Only thing I'm not sure of is where is the best place to put them. Anyway, appreciate your answer and I will ping the mod who removed my content and let them know what I am doing. 11redharry (talk) 22:58, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Pinged them as you mentioned, thanks for that. Seems like it is just as you said and now my references to each document I made will be fine to use for the chart. I still think I'll leave my text summary off and just let people figure out for themselves what trends there have been, because of the synthesis issue. 11redharry (talk) 03:39, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I was browsing here and I saw that I can attribute this experience as knowledge, do you like translation? --Luizael.anna (talk) 23:58, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Luizael.anna: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! I personally don't translate because I am not fluent enough in another language to translate articles, and un-edited machine translation is frowned upon. But you might be interested in reading Help:Translation if that's something you want to do. Cheers, Relativity ⚡️ 00:15, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
Question from MeloOpti (20:26, 29 September 2025)
How do I save my Drafts? Or do they auto save? --MeloOpti (talk) 20:26, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- @MeloOpti: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! When you edit your drafts, you have to click "Publish changes" for your changes to save. Edits don't auto-save. If you're worried about losing your hard work, you might want to create a draft on a document on your computer that will save automatically for you and not immediately publish. Hope that answers your question! Relativity ⚡️ 21:06, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from MeloOpti (01:00, 1 October 2025)
Hello again... I've written a whole article, including 17 citations, including a photo and it won't publish.... I get a box that says this:
"No stashed content found for 0/a4c404c4-9b03-11f0-9117-89b994afc46f. This is most likely because your edit session has expired. Try to copy your changes, reload the page, and try again. See more details on how to resolve this error at WP:FAQ/Problems#My edit won't publish due to "no stashed content"?"
Does this mean I have to redo all the citations again ? --MeloOpti (talk) 01:00, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- @MeloOpti: Hopefully not, there are some instructions here that might let you save your edit. If that doesn't work, then yes, you might have to re-do it again. This occurred because you kept the edit tab open for too long and the page's cache cleared during that time. Try the instructions above to see if they work, if not, try publishing your work in smaller chunks? Sorry about that, I'm sure it's frustrating, so hopefully you're able to recover your changes. to the top of your draft. That being said, I think it is highly unlikely that your article will be accepted in its current state. Wikipedia is not a place to host original research, so this topic falls under what Wikipedia is not. You also have a conflict-of-interest regarding this subject, which you need to disclose. Before you try to write an article, I suggest finding some other things you are unaffiliated with to edit, such as some of the things at our Task Center, to get more knowledge on how editing here works before trying to create an article. Hey there!
Quick question, basically, I am a bit fed up of looking up information on ChatGPT and other AIs and seeing incorrect information. Any advice? --AICorrector1997 (talk) 08:44, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @AICorrector1997, great question! We don't directly control what LLMs output, so there's nothing we can do from that side of things. However, you can fix incorrect information on Wikipedia, and since lots of LLMs draw their information from us, you can find incorrect information here and correct it. To find out how to do that, look at the first item at Wikipedia:Task Center. Thanks for volunteering, and if you have any further questions, let me know :) Relativity ⚡️ 23:04, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

Guide to temporary accounts
Hello, Relativity. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.
Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
- When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:
~2025-12345-67(a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5). - All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
- A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
- As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
- Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
- Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.
Impact for administrators
- It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
- It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
- Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
- Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
- Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.
~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR
, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67) - See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.
Useful tools for patrollers
- It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options →
Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
- Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
- Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
- The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

Question from Awaludinvibez (21:55, 4 November 2025)

Question from Rafe Rackstraw (23:47, 4 November 2025)
I would like to update 3 pages: the first is the List_of_Taft_School_alumni page. adding 2 entries to people who already have Wikipedia pages. This involves creating links in each of the new entries. One is just adding an American educator and author to the Academics section. Alfred Randall Collins ’59, Professor of Sociology, author linking to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randall_Collins
The second could go in the Government officials section but all existing entries are "American" Government officials. This person (now deceased) was the vice president of the Dominican Republic.
Jacinto Peynado Garrigosa ’59, Vice President of the Dominican Republic linking to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacinto_Peynado_Garrigosa
Each of the target pages should have an edit to identify Taft as their prep school. Collins' page just vaguely says "New England prep school" and Peynado's is silent about his education.
Before I undertake these edits, can you assist me in the link creation process? --Rafe Rackstraw (talk) 23:47, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Rafe Rackstraw: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Before you add any links, are there any reliable, published sources that say specifically that both of these people went to Taft? If you find a reliable source for that, you should add the information (with the source) that they went to Taft to their articles before adding them to the list. If there is no published, reliable source that exists for that information, you shouldn't add it because it would be difficult to verify that it's true.
- Creating the links shouldn't be too hard. Just put each person's name inside of double brackets ( ) For example, to link to Randall Collins, you would write
Randall Collinsto get Randall Collins. Hope that helps. Relativity ⚡️ 00:08, 5 November 2025 (UTC)- As to "published" sources, the 1959 Taft School yearbook has a short biography on each - Collins on page 47 and Peynado on page 83. Question from AR Robert (16:54, 10 November 2025)
Hi. I have created a page about our local, nonprofit newspaper in Belmont, MA. How do I publish? --AR Robert (talk) 16:54, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @AR Robert and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for being willing to jump into creating a Wikipedia article. It may be tricky for you to start editing by creating an article, because creating articles on Wikipedia are very difficult. There are many technical aspects to Wikipedia that take a lot of learning, but some of the tasks at the Task Center can help you learn those things. For example, all subjects of Wikipedia articles must pass our notability guideline, and if you are personally involved with the subject, you'll need to follow our policy on conflict-of-interest editing. If you're still interested in creating an article on something, the instructions at Help:Your first article are very informative; if you're confused with something specific there, I'd be happy to explain if you point it out to me. Cheers and happy editing! Relativity ⚡️ 20:34, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Question from Capriciouscapybara (16:50, 21 November 2025)
Hi Relativity!
I am an expert in ecology (primarily oceanography) and climate change accounting (especially related to the food sector). I've been trying to get started by making edits in that space, especially in updating outdated sources. I have a few etiquette questions: (1) Is it okay for a newbie to engage on a locked page (e.g., deforestation) through the discussion pages? Or should I hold off until I have more experience? (2) I would love to figure out which pages might be most helpful to edit with my expertise; any tips? I tried the "easy/moderate/hard" suggestion bot and also searching for topics and clicking on links, but wasn't having much luck! (3) I saw there was a place to make a user page. Is this something I should curate / put my real name on?
Thanks! I'm really excited to contribute! --Capriciouscapybara (talk) 16:50, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

- Welcome @ForrestM99! For help creating links, this page should be able to help. The Manual of Style (you can click that blue link there to find it) is our guide for formatting our articles, but overall the best way to learn how to edit Wikipedia is to, well, edit it! Some things you can do here can be found at this Task Center. You might notice that on that list creating an article is listed as one of the hardest tasks to do, and this is because it's difficult knowing all the parts that make up a Wikipedia article. I highly recommended getting experience editing existing articles beforehand. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know and I will try to help you out. Cheers! Question from Miriamktucker (18:52, 7 December 2025)
I am the daughter of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Kogan_(radio_writer).
I would like to correct some factual errors in his entry. Because I have a conflict of interest, I am not editing the article directly.
"David Philip Kogan (né Rothman)" : David Philip Kogan was the son of Eli Kogan and Yetta Kogan (nee Rothman). His mother, not he, was a Rothman.
Kogan and Arthur were responsible for far more than the two shows cited. Their first project—in tandem with WOR producer Jack Johnstone—was a short-lived program entitled Dark Destiny, heard from August 26, 1942 to March 11, 1943. They had two other proprietary series: Murder by Experts premiered on Mutual Broadcasting on June 18, 1949 and left the airwaves on December 17, 1951. The Strange Dr. Weird was a weekly quarter-hour heard over Mutual (for Adam Hats) from November 1944 to May 1945. They were also responsible for The Sealed Book, a syndicated half-hour produced by Mutual/WOR that had a twenty-six episode run from May to September of 1945. Other Mutual shows that relied on scripts by the Kogan-Arthur team include Adventure Into Fear, Nick Carter, Master Detective, The Shadow, and A Voice in the Night. In addition they also wrote other well-known shows on contract including The Shadow, The Thin Man, Lights Out, The Clock and Bulldog Drummond, among others. They also adapted The Mysterious Traveler to a comic book format in 1948 and a magazine of collected stories in 1952-53.
Kogan authored several scripts for post-war U.S. Army shows for the benefit of wounded veterans. These are part of the David Kogan Papers Collection at the Library of Congress.

- @Miriamktucker: Hello! The best step is for you to create a request to add that change to the article due to your conflict-of-interest. To do so, you should go to the David Kogan article talk page, which can be found at Talk:David Kogan (radio writer), and follow the instructions on this page to add a new edit request on the talk page. Basically, click "Add topic" (which can be found at the top right corner of the talk page), write a title for the subject/header of the post, type edit COI into the text box that appears, describe what you want to be changed, and sign off with four tildes (~~~~). For the part where you describe what you want to be changed, your description you just wrote above should suffice (I have not checked the reliability of the sources, though, so I can't promise anything will happen). My only suggestion is to "connect" the information above to what source you're specifically getting each point of information from instead of listing all the sources at the bottom. This way, the reviewer doesn't have to dig through each source to find out what to cite for what, and you might get a faster response. I hope this makes sense, and if you need any further help, you can contact me again, or you can check out our forum for new users. Happy editing! Relativity ⚡️ 03:39, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2026 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2026 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here, and a bot will set up your submissions page within one day, ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2026 WikiCup, the highest-ranking contestants will receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. This is the same scoring system that we had last year. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants are no longer eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2025).
- All general sanctions imposed by the community may now be enforced at the Arbitration Enforcement noticeboard (WP:AE) as a result of a recent RfC.
- Due to the result of a recent RFC, the administrator recall process is amended to extend the deadline for a re-request for adminship to 30 days or the next administrator election, whichever is later.

A message from Kmccook
Please rereview the page Donald G. Davis, Jr. which you made a speedy delete. I did use material from our tribute but thought I could not use a webpage as a citation--it appeared at our Library History Round Table blog and I had added citations to published sources. I thought it was inappropriate to cite a blog. I cited everything that I included but did copy some of our sentences. I have deleted them. Don was a very important library historian. Also, the only free image I could find was when he was honored at the Library of Congress so I uploaded that image to Commons and government sites are generally free to use. If still a problem please delete right away and I will rewrite it. Thank you very much.Kmccook (talk) 14:03, 10 January 2026 (UTC) Kmccook (talk) 14:03, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Kmccook: Hello, sorry to keep you waiting for a response. I'd like to echo Justlettersandnumbers' worry, as it is concerning that you don't seem to understand what the issue with the article was while contesting the speedy deletion, and even after the message was delivered to you on your talk page, your response still didn't show an understanding of the issue. The problem was not the citations for the article, it was that it was a copyright violation. You took the text from the obituary and pasted it verbatim into the article, and that obituary did not use a copyright license that allowed us to freely re-use the text. I didn't even check the sources for notability; I had to address the copyvio immediately because leaving copyright violations can present legal problems. Please read the two pages I linked in this message and thoroughly read the message about the speedy deletion, as you could potentially be blocked from editing if you make any further copyright violations. If you're confused about anything, let me know, and I'll try my best to clarify. Relativity ⚡️ 20:06, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from RSCMarketing (16:23, 20 January 2026)
I hope you are doing well. I was hoping to get your guidance on the best approach for Ryder Scott Company, L.P.’s presence on Wikipedia. The current page was created many years ago, before I joined the company, and as the Marketing Manager, I would like to ensure that our information is accurate, complete, and aligned with Wikipedia’s standards.
I am unsure whether it would be more appropriate to update and expand the existing page or to start fresh with a new article. I also want to make sure I am following all conflict-of-interest and disclosure guidelines correctly as someone who works for the company.
Could you please advise on the best path forward and any recommended steps I should take to proceed properly? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Emily D. Ammons --RSCMarketing (talk) 16:23, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from Enderdragonscary (07:48, 22 January 2026)
how do i make an article --Enderdragonscary (talk) 07:48, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Enderdragonscary and welcome to Wikipedia! For example, all subjects of Wikipedia articles must pass our notability guideline. If you're still interested in creating an article on something, the instructions at Help:Your first article are very informative; if you're confused with something specific there, I'd be happy to explain if you point it out to me. Cheers and happy editing! Relativity ⚡️ 22:10, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

- @StaroftheStrand: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! By "evidence", I assume you mean a reliable source? We have a great guide to finding reliable sources, which can be found Help:Find sources. What topic are you trying to find sources for? Also, if you have any specific sources you want to run by me to check if they're reliable or not, I can let you know what I think. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to let me know. Relativity ⚡️ 22:13, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

- @Ebogu: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! There's a good guide at Help:Getting started to help you get started with editing. There are also some tasks that need doing at the Task center. If you're interested in editing any specific topic, I can recommend some possible areas to edit if you ask. Happy editing! Relativity ⚡️ 22:17, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

A message from Unitemikes
Unitemikes (talk) 15:46, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
for "Cat Dreams", there are two wiki pages: Cat Dreams (a book) and Cat Dreams (a music album). How do I create a disambiguity page for those?
- @Unitemikes: Hello! The best way to figure out how to create a disambiguation page is to look at an existing one. For example, I created the disambiguation page Here Be Monsters. You can look at it when it's being edited in the source editor (available at this link) to get an idea of how to format a disambiguation page. So you would have the text
Cat Dreams may refer to:on the top of the disambiguation page, followed by a bulleted list (done with asterisks * ) of all the Cat Dreams pages, and at the end of the page, you would put Disambiguation. Hope that helps. Relativity ⚡️ 02:02, 31 January 2026 (UTC)

Women in Green reviewing drive

Hello Relativity:
This month, February 2026, WikiProject Women in Green is participating in the February 2026 GAN Backlog Drive, in which we're aiming to review as many outstanding Good Article (GA) nominations about women and women's works as possible. If you want to help out, you can check out the project talk page for a list of nominations in need of review (including some WiG originals). If you haven't reviewed a GA nomination before, be sure to check out the reviewing instructions and guidelines and feel free to ask for a mentor to check your work.
We are also working together with a wikithon hosted on 5 February by Wikimedia UK, which will focus on writing and improving articles about women involved in sustainable development. If you want to join the event, feel free to sign up at the eventbrite page; or if you would be interested in providing a 20-minute assessment and/or a full GA review of the submitted articles in the weeks following, put your name down on the project talk page for updates as the event progresses.
We hope to see you there!

WikiCup 2026 March newsletter
The first round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As some of you may have noticed, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. This point increase has been retroactively applied to all good article reviews for which competitors have claimed points in this round. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 1 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 300 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Bgsu98 (submissions) with 1,467 round points, largely gained from 1 featured article, 5 featured lists, 15 good articles, and 42 FAC and GAN reviews;
Olliefant (submissions) with 1,246 round points, largely from 4 featured lists, 9 good articles, 2 featured topic articles, 4 did you know articles, and 75 FAC and GAN reviews;
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,095 round points, largely from 3 featured articles, 6 good articles, and 5 did you know articles;
MCE89 (submissions) with 848 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 32 FAC and GAN reviews; and
Rollinginhisgrave (submissions) with 838 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 14 FAC, GAN, and peer reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 7 featured articles, 16 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 168 good articles, 13 good-topic articles and more than 50 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 14 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 700 reviews. The tournament points table will be updated within the next few days.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
