Today is Bastille Day, commemorated by a DYK as my "story" and a visit to the Bastille Opera in "music". What do I think? Okay, in general, I prefer (a) fewer white lines and (b) brevity in headers. It's not uncommon for me to leave edit summaries such as "removing extra white lines" and/or "trimming headers". As for the death sentence, I've settled on "died in (city) on (date), at the age of (number)" as alternate versions seem a bit clumsy. That said, I don't feel strongly about any of this points; if I made these edits and subsequently, some editor changed them or reverted me, I would not care. --Rosiestep (talk) 07:43, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi Shauly555 and welcome to Wikipedia. I know it can be frustrating to edit Wikipedia as a newcomer while you're "learning the ropes". Here's what I think about Draft:Shay Liberman.

I see that you have only been editing that draft article. Mostly, it seems to be helpful for new editors to improve existing articles before they try to create a new article, so that they get through a "learning curve".

I see that the draft article has been reviewed on 5 different occasions by 5 different editors. Looking at the last review, dated 27 June 2025, the editor informs that the article lacks ...significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject.. As I don't edit articles related to sports, I don't know what constitutes significant coverage for professional volleyball players. But there are editors who do know and they are members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports; their talkpage is here. I recommend that you pose your question on that talkpage. But first, read Wikipedia:Notability (sports), if you haven't already done so.

Just FYI, each language version of Wikipedia is entitled to create its own policies regarding notability, etc. Ergo, not every article on IT-WP will qualify for an article on EN-WP and vice versa.

Lastly, I looked at all the references in the draft and augmented some of them. The lesson here is: assure precision and don't just accept what auto-populates a cite template.

By "good to go", I believe that you're asking if the information in your userpage can be moved into Wikipedia's mainspace so that there a biography about you there. If that's what you're asking, the answer is "no" as it would be a conflict of interest for you to create your Wikipedia biography. (Instead, leave it to other editors to make a decision as to whether or not to create a biography about you.)

Leaving your userpage as is is also not an option; here's an explanation about that. Another editor has informed you that your userpage will be deleted if your userpage remains out of compliance. Unfortunately, your contested deletion comments indicate a lack of understanding regarding (a) appropriate use of a userpage, and (b) why you shouldn't write your autobiography on Wikipedia so the deletion will occur. Hello! I work at a music management company and have been given the task of updating and creating Wikipedia pages for our artists. We are based in Sweden, but most of the artists are internationally known. One relevant example would be creating pages for solo projects by members of Peter Bjorn and John. Both Abstract Crimewave (formerly Smile) and SunYears have received international recognition and press coverage.

I don't want to write in a biased way, I simply want to add relevant information about major collaborations, awards and projects. Should I begin by creating the missing pages, and then update the existing ones with relevant information where needed?

Hi Modular science and thanks for what you do around here. As there's no uniformity at New Page Patrol as to who reviews what and when, it's often a "luck of the draw" as to which articles get quick reviews and which ones don't. Using me as an example: I do a lot of reviews, but only of certain types of articles, and only when I feel like doing it. Some days, I'll review a large bath, and other days, I'll only review 1 or 2 articles, and other days/weeks, I won't review any articles. If other editors have a similar approach, you can see why there's no rhyme or reason why certain articles get quick reviews, and other articles, which are identical in type, don't get reviewed for a while. I guess what I'm trying to say is to be patient and don't take the review time personally. Delayed review of articles may not mean that something is wrong with the article; rather, it could mean that a volunteer editor who likes reviewing the kinds of articles you write is busy with other stuff. --Rosiestep (talk) 07:46, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

First of all, Rosie, thanks for taking the time and trouble to keep us informed about AI initiatives in relation to Wikipedia and for suggesting we should put together an essay specifically for contributors to WiR. I must say I was rather surprised at the number of strong reactions against use of AI for creating women's biographies. It reminded me of the violent reactions by the print.setters in Fleet Street when in was suggested computerized editing systems could probably be of assistance. Introduction of new technologies requires a careful examination of the advantages and disadvantages of possible applications rather than simple yes or no assertions.

Unfortunately the amount of time I am able to spend on Wikipedia is now increasingly limited but in reviewing new members, I recently came across a Swiss women who has successfully applied AI to Swiss articles on women and was keen to collaborate with the English version too. In addition to the OKA initiative on AI-based translation, I believe other research groups such as those in Barcelona have been looking at AI as a tool in connection with increasing coverage of women. If I find the time, I'll try to look into this further and provide further details.

In the meantime, it might be useful to draw up a draft list of guidelines in connection with the assistance AI can give to the creation or improvement of articles about women. Advice could also be given on the dangers of using output created by AI tools without careful vetting and further human-based research, etc.

I thought it would be more suitable to bring these points up here rather than prolonging the one-sided discussion on the WiR talk page. Today's story mentions four singers which I all heard, soprano (whose birthday would have been today) and tenor were soloists with my choir in Hannover, and alto and tenor (married, singers of NDR Chor) were the soloists in the Verdi Requiem of my choir in Idstein, in 2010. Yes, thank you! I feel blessed with conductors who attracted notable soloists and orchestras by interesting music-making. The one in Hannover first had Frimmer from the local opera, and later Diwiak. Decades later, when we did the Verdi, as a joint venture of two choirs (which was in the DYK about the place), our conductor asked the bass who had sung with us several times if he knew an alto and tenor, and he brought in same Diwiak and his wife. The parts were a first for the two who enjoyed it, and as they all came from the same choir their voices blended well in the ensembles! After the concert, I offered them (and others) my concert special, dates filled with walnuts (easy to make, and keeping well), and talked to Bonhoff, who said that her daughter had asked how they got Wikipedia articles, and I could explain telling the story of the Hannover beginnings: she called her husband and said that I knew everything about him, - we all laughed. - Today a great singer, pictured on my talk twice. Today's story has another singer who was a soloist in one of my concerts, DYK 10 years ago OTD, and I found today a youtube of an aria she sang with us, that same year. There's a story around it: Mela Tenenbaum was concert master, and wanted it fast; in the Saturday concert she played the soprano's tempo, and on Sunday she ran away, soprano following ;) - Our performances were the weekend before the Iraq war ultimatum, and we sang Dona nobis pacem (and the drummer drummed!) as if they could hear us in Washington. - Pics of festive days lead to a concert with Barenboim we experienced, - special memories. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:38, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi Nickyates1976 and welcome to Wikipedia. I would recommend that you don't do "launch your own professional page". Wikipedia would consider it to be a conflict of interest if you write about yourself and/or your company; this explains it pretty well. Instead, it would be best to leave it to others to decide if you meet the qualifications for a biography, and then they (others) will follow through on it. I'll share a couple more links with you, in case you weren't aware of them: the policy regarding notability and the policy regarding biographies of living people.

As for the other things you mentioned, an "... old page has been cancelled and now redirects to a business what was shut down many years ago", if you'd like me to delete it, write the name of the page here, I'll take a look, and if I'm comfortable deleting it (I'm an admin, so I can), I will. • First, it's mandatory for you to divulge your conflict of interest on your userpage if you wish to edit articles regarding you and/or your family and/or companies associated with you. Please do this asap.
• I reviewed the last version of the Nick Yates biography before the biography was deleted and the subject title became a redirect.
• I reviewed the Articles for deletion nomination and the decision for the redirect to Fresh Healthy Vending.

• As to why my page is gione for some reason: this page explains it.
• As to whoever did this is doing it to disparage: kindly, it's not obvious to me how the 2 editors who suggested the Redirect were doing anything but giving honest opinions. Likewise, the Admin editor who deleted the article by making the Redirect was "doing their job" as a site Admin; frankly, it could just as easily have been me, as I'm an Admin, too.

• I also reviewed the edit history of the Nick Yates biography, which includes a January 5, 2018 Edit Summary: "vanity bio, created by WP:SPA in suspected WP:COI; few independent non-trivial sources attest to the person's notability", and I note that editor's point of view.
• I see, as you mentioned, that Fresh Healthy Vending changed its name 10 years ago. Ergo, if you want me to delete the Nick Yates Redirect to Fresh Healthy Vending, I'm willing to do so. I'll wait until after you've disclosed you conflict of interest on your userpage and I'll link to it with my deletion Edit Summary. (Anyone can pretend to be Nick Yates so this offers a level of understanding why I would make a deletion action.)
• Regarding the path to build a new page, my recommendation hasn't changed: please leave it to other editors.

• Recognize that they will review the original biography, the biography's edit history, and the biography's Articles for Deletion page against instruction pages such as, WP:GNG, WP:RS and WP:ANYBIO, before attempting to recreate it.
• If you attempt to recreate your autobiography, the reviewers at New Page Patrol, will review it against the same criteria, including did you comply with conflict of interest requirements.

Hi PamD. I was unsuccessful trying to find the page that provides the script which enables an editor to see "Harv warning" messages. Searching for WP:Harv warning gives this, which shows other instances of "Harv warning" at peer reviews. This page didn't have it. Nor this page, though there are three examples of what it looks like to editors who have enabled the script. Ergo, I'm hopeful that some pagestalker can provide the script.

Even if they were, the information in the article needs to be evidenced by reliable secondary sources; see WP:RS. None of the sources used in the article support the claims. Some suggestions:

• For references to be informative, convert them into inline citations.

As almost all edits are viewable (e.g., some can only be viewed by an admin, etc.), here's how to find the edits you made and to see why they aren't connected with the JoselynAGOR2025 account, whose contribution history only has one edit (the note you just left on my talkpage). To view other edits you made, go to the article that you edited and look at its page history. Then, by checking the edits made on the day that you edited that article, you should be able to find your edits, and see "who" made those edits. Wikipedia has a placeholder page for the district but no content; apparently there was content there at one time, but it was deleted in 2007 and never rewritten. My book “An Algebraic Introduction to K-theory” appears under Further Reading at the end of the article on K-theory. But it should also appear in the list of Pedagogical References, since it contains numerous original exercises at the end of sections, is geared as a gentle introduction to K-theory for the reader who has taken a year of graduate level algebra, and is designed to show the historical development of classical Algebraic K-theory. How do I add this book to the list of Pedagogical References in the K-theory article of Wikipedia?

Hi, Rosiestep. I have a small question about the translation (the one you mentioned to me). I'm currently working on another article translated from Basque (Ane Legarreta). I visited Wikipedia:Translation, but I'm not clear on which specific template I should use. Would it be sufficient to simply place the }}translated page}} template on the article's talk page? Hi Dicomus. Adding the talkpage template is important. Including attribution in the Edit Summary is mandatory. While I do it with each edit that I translate from an article (e.g., 1 paragraph at a time), other people only add the attribution Edit summary with the first translation edit. In the specific case of the Ane Legarreta article, which you are translating from the Basque Wikipedia, the Edit Summary should be exactly this: Content in this edit is translated from the existing Basque Wikipedia article at eu:Ane Legarreta; see its history for attribution.. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:29, 27 September 2025 (UTC)

Hi VickM007, and welcome to Wikipedia. In general, tables are complicated, so let me start by pointing you here. Commonly, the temperature template used is geography articles (it includes colors) is this one, {{Average temperature table}}. This would be an example of how color is included in the temperature table for Climate of California. Make sure you review your work (preview it) before you save it.
