On the GOMO website, I noticed that MG Angle is currently serving as "Special Assistant to the Commanding General, United States Army Europe-Africa/ Commander, Allied Land Command with duty in Belgium". And MG Allan M. Pepin is currently serving as "Special Assistant to the Commanding General, Installation Management Command, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas".

For MG Angle, this makes me think he will be nominated to succeed LTG Fletcher as Commander of NATO Special Operations HQ. And for MG Pepin, it makes me think he will be nominated to succeed LTG Evans as Commander of US Army North. Evans has already retired and while Fletcher has not yet retired, he has been in his role since 2021.

Let's see if I call this before the nominations are even sent.

Tonight, I met a Colonel in the Georgia Army National Guard who served as an Executive Officer to Major General Joseph Jarrard (I met him another time two years ago and I think I mentioned it then too).

He told me that Jarrard's nomination to be Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau has been sent to The White House but The White House has yet to take action and send it to the Senate. I asked if Jarrard would go straight from 2-star to 4-star and the Colonel said they'd make him a 3-star for a day or two as a formality.

• • Side note: He also mentioned LTG Carden was a pain to work for but he was likely chosen for elevation because he "gets things done".

Apparently they're also considering merging AFRICOM with EUCOM, and SOUTHCOM with NORTHCOM. Given that GEN Cavoli's customary 3-year tour at USEUCOM is set to end this year, this could be a planned matchup between his successor and Lt Gen Anderson to see who's the more worthy 4-star to take over the new command.
