Script added, but not working
I added the script, in the interest of using the WikiProject notification feature, but nothing is happening. Are there any known clashes with other scripts? Iskandar323 (talk) 09:01, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- I looked at your installed scripts and noticed that you have rmCloser installed at the same time. I'm betting that's your problem. I just used the notification feature and there was no issues for me. TarnishedPathtalk 10:03, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Pinged @Iskandar323 because I forgot to above. TarnishedPathtalk 10:03, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- That made a huge amount of sense, and I thought it would fix it, but it hasn't. I've also cleared out other scripts that I've lost track of the purpose of. I'm assuming a button or extra option in the three-dot menu edit option is supposed to appear? Actually, thinking clearly, I should probably have checked this first: does it work in the mobile version? Iskandar323 (talk) 10:26, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Iskandar323, I've never tested it on mobile version and it would surprise me if it did. TarnishedPathtalk 10:29, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Ah! There we go then! Iskandar323 (talk) 10:32, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Iskandar323, I just asked a generative AI thingy if there might be any differences with the mobile apps that might stop it from working and it came back saying "
The app has its own API layer and may not expose the same mw or Morebits objects that your script relies on
". It's AI so it might be wrong, but that would suggest not. TarnishedPathtalk 10:36, 11 December 2025 (UTC) - It might work through a web browser on your phone though. TarnishedPathtalk 10:36, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- I use the browser, not the app actually, but the mobile optimization still affects the functionality of things. Iskandar323 (talk) 11:25, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Move+
Just want to ask something about Move+ (not just your version, but also the original by BilledMammal): is it normal for the close button to not work for certain RMs? I had to close these two discussions manually for that reason, but relisting and notifying WikiProjects still worked. Thanks, 1isall (talk | contribs) . . (he/him) 16:07, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @1isall,
- Yes there are certain RMs that both BilledMammal's and my Move+ will not close. It's not common, but it does happen. I haven't been able to work out any rhyme or reason to it as yet. TarnishedPathtalk 23:55, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you for letting me know. I'm guessing that I just do everything manually in cases like the ones initially mentioned. Thanks, 1isall (talk | contribs) . . (he/him) 00:00, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- @1isall, that's what I've been doing in the odd occaison where the issue arrises. TarnishedPathtalk 00:30, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yep, figured. This should be settled for now, and looked into further some other time. Thanks, 1isall (talk | contribs) . . (he/him) 02:19, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- If you come accross a discussion with the issue again, I'd suggest seeing if rmCloser is able to close it. I suspect that script would have the same issue given it is the original code base, but it's possible it doesn't. TarnishedPathtalk 02:43, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

Script did not properly detect need for RMTR
On DIII-D, I attempted to close and the dialog said I could move directly, however the redirect had more than 1 revision. NightWolf1223 <Howl at me•My hunts> 03:57, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
Reasoning behind the results not shown
I've been using the MovePlus script I've noticed that when I click "the discussion" on an RM history template for a recently closed move request, (Example: Talk:American Communist Party (2024)) the script doesn't display the result or reasoning for the closure as I thought.
This was also the case for BilledMammal's Move+ and I just wonder if this is something that can be fixed or not. This is a minor issue that can be done manually in a few seconds but it would be nice if the reasoning I gave for the closure could be automatically displayed when I click the link. WhatADrag07 (talk) 18:04, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- @WhatADrag07, because the script closes the discussion and adds the old moves template in the one edit, it can only update the link in the old moves template with the PermanentLink of the discussion just prior to closing. If the script were to have the old moves with a link to the closed discussion it would need to first close the discussion in one edit and then next add/edit the old moves template in the next edit.
- It's possible, but I haven't programmed much since I left uni almost 2 decades ago. I've been mostly relying on help from the good folk at Wikipedia:User scripts/Requests to fix any bugs. See a discussion at Wikipedia:User scripts/Requests#User:BilledMammal/MovePlus.js and User:Frost/moveplus.js where they have helped me fix a few things. TarnishedPathtalk 23:21, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Round-robin move failed
Did a round-robin move of WLVE and WLDB and the pages failed to move back out of draftspace. Manual intervention was required. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 18:31, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Sammi Brie, thankyou for letting me know. TarnishedPathtalk 23:39, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
Page moving to the same page name
Hey, would it be possible to add a simple check to prevent this from occurring (where the page being moved to the current title breaks the "round robin" (is it even a round robin?)). Courtesy ping to @UpTheOctave! and @Joe vom Titan. – LuniZunie(talk) 17:44, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- @LuniZunie, thanks for making me aware. I have no idea why the editor who started the RM discussion included St. Valentin in it, but you're correct that the script should have passed it. I'll request some assistance at Wikipedia:User scripts/Requests latter on. TarnishedPathtalk 01:53, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- I may be able to implement a fix if that works for you. – LuniZunie(talk) 01:54, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- That would be fantastic if you are able. I haven't done any serious programming since I left university almost 20 years ago. TarnishedPathtalk 01:55, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

- @TarnishedPathThree edits are needed, when I say "find x" just use
ctrl+fand paste in the code I give to find it.For all three edits, you just need to paste in the following code where I say:if ((curr.slice(0, 1).toUpperCase() + curr.slice(1)) === (dest.slice(0, 1).toUppercase() + dest.slice(1))) {This will check if the two titles are the same, and abort. This will also make sure something like "article name" would match "Article name" since those are the same pages.First edit:
progressBox.innerText = 'Current and destination titles are the same; skipping';
return;
}
findasync function movePlusMoveRoundRobin
paste the code at the top of the function.Second edit:
findfunction movePlusMoveOverPage
paste the code at the top of the function.Third edit:
findfunction movePlusSubmitRMTR
paste the code at the top of the function – LuniZunie(talk) 02:13, 17 February 2026 (UTC)- @LuniZunie,

- @TarnishedPath Shoot, there is a bug in my implementation. – LuniZunie(talk) 03:20, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- OK, I'll revert it until further notice. TarnishedPathtalk 03:22, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- @TarnishedPath Ohhhhhh, whoops I forgot to capitalize "case" in "toUpperCase". In the places where it is
(dest.slice(0, 1).toUppercase(), just set the c in case to uppercase (should be "toUpperCase()", not
toUppercase()"). Feel a bit dumb for that mistake... – LuniZunie(talk) 03:23, 17 February 2026 (UTC)- Just tested it, it worked =) – LuniZunie(talk) 03:28, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- I'll try and find something to move to double check. Not sure how soon I'll come across the issue of someone specifying the same destination as the target to test that. TarnishedPathtalk 03:29, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

- @LuniZunie,
MovePlus
Line 750 here replaces all instances of a vertical bar with {{?}}. This precludes uses of templates like talkquotes; do you know why this logic exists? Iseult Δx talk to me 00:34, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Iseult, I've moved the discussion here to keep on the MovePlus discussions in one place. Regarding the logic, I've just gone through all the revisions I've made to the code and it appears that is logic that has been in there since before I started hosting the script. Short answer is I don't know what its rationale is. TarnishedPathtalk 01:07, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
The script appears to have had a stroke while Jeffrey34555 was moving two pages
I saw that it moved Talk:Bombardier Movia C951/C951A not to Talk:Bombardier Movia C951, but rather to Talk:Bombardier Movia C951/C951A/C951A and Talk:Bombardier Movia C951/C951A/C951A/C951A

- @Jeffrey34555, looking at your contrib history it looks like a bit of a mess went on with that move. Did your troubles start with the script incorrectly Blah'ing the the talk page where the discussion occurred in the post move clean-up and then you tried to run the script again and things got worse? TarnishedPathtalk 07:34, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- The troubles started after the page move was done. All the redirects were in the wrong place, so I had to manually edit each redirect to the correct article. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 22:57, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Ok, that's what I thought might have been an issue. I had a similar issue with a redirect after doing a move. TarnishedPathtalk 00:22, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

- @Whyiseverythingalreadyused, I've reverted a recent patch which I think may have caused some issues. Pinging @LuniZunie. TarnishedPathtalk 07:37, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Ah thank you Whyiseverythingalreadyused (t · c · he/him) 07:38, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Strange.... Maybe my programming skills are not as good as I thought... No idea why it would have caused an issue. – LuniZunie(talk) 11:50, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- I don't know. All I could figure is that there has been a couple of problems I've had since making the change. In a move I performed the script redirected the page where the discussion occurred to the old page which was by that point a redirect, so essentially there were two redirects pointing to each other. I think I saw something similar in Jeffrey's contribs. TarnishedPathtalk 12:08, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
MovePlus
Hey! I've found MovePlus to be a great utility.
I would like to suggest you add a confirmation (Page cannot be moved, requested technical move) when MovePlus automatically puts the page at technical moves. The first time I used it I was not aware of this and accidentally created 10 technical move requests when I tried using it over and over again when it said Complete! and did not move the page.
Thanks, Jacksonvil (talk|contribs) 08:16, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Jacksonvil, I'll see what I can do. No promises how fast though. TarnishedPathtalk 10:15, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
