Hi Thedarkknightli. Regarding this and other similar edits, while you are right that these people became notable before the breakup of the Soviet Union, I don't think it makes much sense to refer to them this way, since it implies that the Soviet Union still exists and that they still hold Soviet nationality. This looks similar as referring to someone still living as Czechoslovak or East German etc. MOS:NATIONALITY says In most modern-day cases, this will be the country, region, or territory where the person is currently a national or permanent resident. I think in such cases, we are probably fine using only the current nationality if they are still living. Thanks. Mellk (talk) 07:33, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi @Mellk, thanks for reminding me about that. Now I agree it doesn't make much sense to refer to any of them as "a Soviet and ...". They're still alive. I find it necessary to summarize their Soviet-era careers later in the leads (which we haven't done in Nikita Mikhalkov yet), though.

Yes, I agree that their careers in the Soviet Union should be mentioned in the lead if it is applicable. That way it is clear that they became notable before the breakup of the USSR. For Nikita Mikhalkov as an example, it could be mentioned that his acting career began during the Soviet period or he starred in Soviet films (something along those lines). Thanks.
