Hi! Thanks a lot for closing that massive RfC! One thing I have been wondering about: the idea of adding Markdown to the criterion was mentioned by multiple users, and seems to have had broad support. As your close didn't mention it (which makes sense for a WP:SNOW close on a specific proposal), would it be a good idea to open a follow-up RfC specifically about this addition? • Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
• Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.

Technical news

• Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.

• The arbitration case Indian military history has been closed.
  • South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. The topic area is specifically defined as All pages related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups.

I'm a bit confused about a recent page deletion. The first edit of the page had missing links and I had corrected them. When I replied to those considering deletion, I had not received an answer and it was deleted shortly afterwards. Today I remade the page and ensured that I had all the correct working pages and sources to back-up my content, but it was deleted without prior notification. What can be done to remedy this? Hope you're doing well. I wanted to ask you as an administrator for advice on how I could propose changes to Wikipedia templates. Specifically, I wanted to propose changes in the way that Template:Category diffuse and Template:Container category work. Currently, the wording for these templates are quite confusing and rigid. Furthermore, it's quite difficult to differentiate when each tag is meant to be used.

This is a sentiment that is visible in both template's talk pages, but it looks like there's been no real effort to try to get things sorted out. I would like to at least try to make something happen.

Hello, I am somewhat new to English Wikipedia, although I have been active on Persian Wikipedia for about 19 years and have administrative access there. In Persian Wikipedia, we have a Wiki citation template that lists an English article as a citation. I couldn’t find the equivalent on English Wikipedia, so I only connected the related articles that I translated from Persian to English through Wikidata. Could you please explain in more detail the issue you mentioned in your warning? Also, yes, I use AI to help refine the wording of my texts because I don’t want to make mistakes. However, I never use it to create articles. It will still take quite some time before AI, with its current information limitations, can fully translate an article let alone create one from scratch. Wikipedia's neutrality policy doesn't allow for someone involved in such a dispute to add primary source research to an article. Wikipedia articles are basically summaries of secondary sources. If secondary sources have written about the dispute or the other side, that information could be added to the article with proper citations. Again, since you have a conflict of interest, you should make any edit requests to the article talk page. I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have. The fourth round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 29 August. The penultimate round saw three contestants score more than 800 points:

• BeanieFan11 (submissions) with 1,175 round points, mainly from sports-related articles, including 17 good articles, 27 did you know articles, and 9 in the news articles
• Arconning (submissions) with 1,090 round points, mainly from articles about athletes and politicians, including a featured article on Philippines at the 1924 Summer Olympics, 9 good articles, 28 did you know articles, and a wide assortment of featured and good article reviews
• AirshipJungleman29 (submissions) with 854 round points, mostly from a high-scoring featured article on the Indian leader Rani of Jhansi and two good articles, in addition to 13 featured and good article reviews

Everyone who competed in Round 4 will advance to Round 5 unless they have withdrawn. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far, while the full scores for Round 4 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 9 featured articles, 12 featured lists, 98 good articles, 9 good topic articles, more than 150 reviews, nearly 100 did you know articles, and 18 in the news articles.

In advance of the fifth and final round, the judges would like to thank every contestant for their hard work.
