Election news: Voting in the mid-year coordinator election ends at 23:59 on 30 June. Results will be announced at the election page. April Blitz: 14 of the 25 editors who signed up for the April 2025 Copy Editing Blitz copy edited 92,769 words in 30 articles. Barnstars awarded are available here. May Drive: 31 of the 54 editors who signed up for the May 2025 Backlog Elimination Drive copy edited 384,392 words in 216 articles. Barnstars awarded are here. Welcome! Creating a new article from scratch is extremely challenging, and new editors are strongly recommended to spend a few months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to some of our existing seven million articles before trying it. When you do decide to have a go at a new article, you are highly encouraged to read Help:Your first article. If you haven't already also check out the tutorial; it's a lot of fun! Happy editing! Thank you for your help! I reloaded a Wikipedia page for consideration that seems to meet all of the key points for an Academic page and included references. However, I just got a note that the Wikipedia person recommended it for speedy deletion. I'm really confused and frustrated with this process. @HeroCunucu: you can see the criteria for academics article inclusion—reviewing that, are you confident that the article will qualify? Once you are sure the page qualifies, it is really hard to review it because of the its format—not your fault, because Wikipedia formatting is challenging! Paragraph breaks are essential for reading comprehension and sources should be cited according to our guide to citing sources, which create our famous clickable blue numbers.^[1] Because this is a longer article, sections sections would help a lot. Hi! This is interesting. I edited a page for the first time a moment ago and my change was understandably reverted, though I think mistakenly.So I made a login to see how all this works on Wikipedia, for once.

I guess my first question is how to substantiate my edits. What makes something stick? In this case it was the diameter of a specific type of half dollar coin that I happen to have and measured as significantly different than what's listed on the page for it. @ArgonForge: nice username! Thing number one is to ensure that your changes are cited to a reliable source. In your example, that is actually prohibited by our policy against original research—we can't measure things in the real world; we rely on preexisting published sources instead.
