Varun is an Indian male given name. It originally referred to Varuna, a Vedic deity associated with the sky, the celestial ocean and the cosmic order of Ṛta. He is traditionally depicted as the guardian of moral order and all the waters. It originates from Vedic Sankrit. Its etymology is derived from the root vr, meaning "to cover", "to surround" or "to encompass".[1][2]
