The result was keep. This incarnation is sufficiently different from the last deleted one so as to avoid G4. The last AfD was three years ago, and its result doesn't bind us, not just because WP:CONSENSUSCANCHANGE, but also because four of the sources added since that AfD refer specifically to recent developments. Cortador is correct in pointing out that WP:CRYSTAL applies to content speculated by WP editors, not to speculation published by reliable independent sources, as is the case here. Barseghian Lilia is right to remind us that an event doesn't have to take place to be notable and encyclopedic (e.g., 1940 Summer Olympics).
While it looks like some here would feel more comfortable merging this as a section under Eurovision_Song_Contest#Special_events_and_related_competitions, I see P&G-based consensus that sourcing is sufficient for a standalone article at this point. Owen× 15:36, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

This article was previously nominated for deletion in 2016 and again in 2022 and was subsequently deleted. Years later there 'is' new information, but it continues to be speculative and rumor-based with no actual plans announced to hold the event. Starting a new discussion since the new information makes this less straightforward than a recreation of a deleted article. Rational is the same however: delete per WP:CRYSTALBALL. I don't think CRYSTALBALL applies; coverage about the discussions exists and they were real. There is coverage about this project (some is on the page, some easily available online) and its cancellation, making it notable. Keep, or, if not, redirect and merge into Eurovision Song Contest#Special events, where it is mentioned (final sentence). ~2025-40435-92 (talk) 00:17, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Delete: this is a clear case of WP:CRYSTAL; re-create it if it ever happens. Vestrian24Bio 03:47, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Keep or redirect: Regardless of whether the competition ultimately takes place, it has received coverage in multiple media outlets (more than those cited in this article). WP:CRYSTAL does not appear directly relevant in this context, the event is in the process of becoming a competition, and this stage has been documented in reliable sources. Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

  • Keep. Misapplication of CRYSTAL. CRYSTAL applies to predictions by editors, not sources. Cortador (talk) 09:22, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
  • The issue is that aside from the initial announcement of the development of the event in 2016 and its its subsequent 'postponement', all remaining sources are from external parties expressing their interest in being part of the contest. There has been no additional information (aside from continual "not happening") from the organizing body of the event. If anything, a redirect to Eurovision_Song_Contest#Special_events_and_related_competitions might make sense, but it's very odd to have an article that consists mostly of potential participants expressing interest in an event no one is planning. • No, they aren't. Kelob2678 has already provided more sources below. Cortador (talk) 22:55, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
If such a contest existed it would certainly be notable. But this contest never made it out of the concept phase nor is it actively being planned for the future. Neither of the below sources state otherwise and the organizing body has repeatedly emphasized that they are not pursuing the creation of this contest. Grk1011 (talk) 23:54, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
An event doesn't necessarily have to actually take place in order to have a wiki article, right? There are many concepts, projects, and events that were discussed by secondary sources but never ended up happening. Barseghian Lilia (talk) 18:45, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Keep The idea of a potential Eurovision Asia has been discussed in academic literature. Kelob2678 (talk) 13:23, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Delete/Redirect - if WP:CRYSTAL doesn't apply here, then WP:TOOSOON does. Plus, this has already been discussed twice before and both times the result was delete, so WP:G4 might apply here. Oakchris1955 (talk) 17:37, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
