Kornigou

According to the references provided, this is a type of Brioche. However search both names on Google and you find nothing other than some self published books spouting what's Wikipedia says, plus some mirror encyclopaedia. Not sure if this really exists? I have nominated to let the community decide. Davidstewartharvey (talk) 21:08, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

Keep - I can tell at least one of the books (the 1984 one) actually discusses it - i can't really understand what it says because it's in French but from what I can tell it confirms there was some kind of brioche or bread named Kornigou or Kornik. My best bet ispart of the details were made up - either the original wikicreator in 2004 made up that it was horns, which is why so many people have posts on blogs about it being a horned samhain pastry, and that's since been corrected, or someone else made up that it's square and bishop-inspired. or both. "Kornigou" literally means "little horns" in Breton, and most references like this 1997 one describe them as antler-like. The bishop thing seems to entirely derive from one 1880 article, which is only speculating about the connection anyway. So it looks like they exist, but there's not a lot to say about them... They did exist i think is the best description, which is why I havd changed the wording. The sources says fell out of favour. However do we need a page on a defunct baked item? Could it be merged into Brioche as per WP:OVERLAP? Davidstewartharvey (talk) 22:14, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
In and of itself, we don't remove articles on defunct items simply because they are defunct; notability is not temporary. That of course does not preclude a merger to Brioche because a separate article is not warranted, but in turn that would indicate there was never sufficient notability and/or material for a separate page (I have no opinion on that matter, though). I think it'd make sense as distinct - it seems to work better for readability that way so my vote remains in favor of keeping. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 17:03, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
I think a better redirect target would be Brittany#Cuisine, which already has short descriptions of some other Breton pastries. The cultural context seems to be the distinctive thing about this, rather than the type of dough it's made from. Adam Sampson (talk) 14:34, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment: the first nomination from 2018, which raised similar concerns, ended in withdrawal after pre-Wikipedia sources were unearthed. No opinion if that will be enough again this time (especially given the PAGEDECIDE issues that didn't come up that time but have now). WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 01:02, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

  • comment Source I find seem to describe an antler-like baked good or , but neither of these sources are helping notability. And they seem to be different than what this article describes, I'm not sure it's even the same thing. Oaktree b (talk) 21:26, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
