This article has gradually turned into a catalog of just about every named character who has appeared in an Assassin's Creed game, regardless of whether there is any real reason to cover them here. The page is now over 400 kB and tagged since 2013. We have individual entries for major protagonists alongside one-off NPCs, multiplayer characters, minor relatives, assassination targets and historical figures who happen to appear in a game. A lot of it is essentially plot summary.

I'm also not sure what the actual inclusion criterion is supposed to be at this point. Brotherhood, for example, has entries for characters like Angelina Ceresa and Margherita dei Campi. They can certainly be verified as existing, but that does not explain why they need an entry in an encyclopedic list of characters from a franchise this large. The same problem repeats throughout the page. See WP:SALAT and WP:NOTPLOT.

This has been discussed on the talk page for years. Others have been were already trying to cut down the plot material and minor characters since 2014, I raised splitting out the historical figures in 2022, and the more recent discussion has again raised both WP:TNT and splitting the casts by game. None of that has really solved the problem, and with every new game the list just gets larger. At this point I think starting again would probably be easier than trying to work out which parts of the existing 400 kB article should survive.

To be clear, I would also be open to Characters of Assassin's Creed [game] articles similar to the Final Fantasy character pages, where there is enough material about the cast's development and reception to support one. Likewise, there seems to be a reasonable subject in the way the series depicts historical figures, which could be dealt with in a separate, properly curated list rather than mixing hundreds of real and fictional people together here per WP:INDISCRIMINATE. I don't see much value in keeping this version purely as a holding place for material which would need to be substantially culled and rewritten anyway. This would be without prejudice to somebody rebuilding the title later with an actual inclusion criterion, or creating more focused character articles where the sourcing supports them. • Keep: What exactly is the deletion rationale here other than WP:TNT? The concept of "List of Assassin's Creed characters" is not WP:INDISCRIMINATE, but the way it was executed here is problematic. As long as the concept meets WP:LISTN, it should be kept. I don't think AfD is the appropriate venue for discussing inclusion criteria. OceanHok (talk) 16:56, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
• Keep: Obviously this article needs trimming as it is too long and full of plot summary and fancruft, but those are problems that can be resolved through editing. I'm not seeing an argument from the nominator that this isn't a notable topic. Series protagonists such as Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Edward Kenway have received significant coverage, and there are articles from reliable sources discussing them as a group, which easily satisfies WP:NLIST.
