Apparently run-of-the-mill diplomat. Only somewhat indepth source is Who was Who, which is not a reliable source per WP:WHOSWHO. Searching for other sources is made harder because there is also Alex Swinton Paterson, BBC executive, who also died in 1980. Even if one accepts the Whoswho (which isn't even a prose source, just a short resumé), it's still only one source, not enough to meet the GNG. Without indepth independent reliable sources, this doesn't belong here. Sources like this are apparently the most extensive ones about him. Presumably routine notifications like "Swinton Patterson has been appointed ambassador to X" will be available as well. Anything better though? Fram (talk) 16:21, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

- Delete: Sourcing now in the article is mostly primary. I don't see anything in Gscholar about this person (the name seems to be common enough, to bring up various other individuals, nothing about an ambassador). I don't see notability and a lack of sourcing isn't helping. Oaktree b (talk) 19:51, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
